Yesterday a conservative

Today a Liberal.

“Canadians are known as peacekeepers above all and not warriors. There’s nothing proud about being a warrior, war is a desperate outcome for a human being, peacekeeping is extremely noble.”

I have no clue where the idea that this guy could be a contender for CPC leadership comes from. I have heard exactly nothing ‘in the wind’ from anyone outside of media and I think they just want to stir up crap.
H/t, Rob

  1. Here is an advice for those that get infatuated with first impressions.
Don’t put people on a pedestal, they will disappoint you without fail.
They are no better than you. The only difference is that they decided to do something about it, whatever “it” is.
The only option for the spectator is to pick the least bad.
For those that want to make real difference, the only option is to get in the dirt and willingness to be exposed to ridicule that will no doubt accompany the journey.
Ridicule will come from like minded, the opposition and assorted onlookers and gawkers.

  2. The first thing I would do, if I started or was put in charge of a political party, would be to hire counter intelligence experts. Rivalscare the first thing marxists go after.

  3. My deceased in-laws on my better half’s side lived in one here in Redmonton. We got the house,a little bungalow with no,but a garage, when they passed. Sold it 2 years ago for $450,000. It was actually quite comfy and cozy for two people,950 sq/ft,however built like a brick sh1thouse…:):)

  4. Stick to shaking down crony corporate markets O’Leary and leave the military to someone who knows what it’s like to have rebel bullets snap past your ears and not return fire because of snowflake protocols.

  5. “If you’ve lost SDA, don’t bother running for leader of the Conservative party.”
    Concur!
With garbage like that Mr Wonderful is looking more and more like a nation-sized John Tory, a slimy liberal mole in a thin blue skin.
    Go Kellie.

  6. The Canadian military should be defending Canada. Period!
Going to war for the Globalist Neo-Con scum who have complete control of the US government is the totally wrong thing to do.

  7. Blame Crash >
“The Canadian military should be defending Canada. Period!”
    Absolutely!
The elected government of Syria has invited Russia in to help rid them of terrorists, and they seem to be doing a fine job of it. We have no business there, and were certainly not invited.

  8. Another bubble boy who does not know what a real Canadian looks or what our values are.
Tiny Turdeau lisps “we have no identity”
I grew up in a household the son of a veteran, my 3 uncles landed in Normandy, two went all the way to Berlin.
My dad was Air Force served 4 years, battle of Britain.
They never spoke much of their experiences, my Uncle that was returned home out after his fifth wound only said once after the Das Reich executed nearly 40 Canadian POW’s in Normandy.
He said that “black uniforms do not get taken prisoner”
Canadian soldiers chewed up the SS whenever they encountered them, the Das Reich went from some 20,000 with 375 tanks on D-Day to a few hundred fleeing through the Falaise gap with no equipment.
If you read Tim Cooks “At the Sharp End, or Shock Troops” or Farley Mowatt’s “The Regiment” you will gain some understanding of our greatest generation.
Should be required reading for wanna-be leaders, senior Turdeau riding around on his rich kids motorcycle with a “pickelhaube” German helmet is not a Canadian it is a “whatever”
As for peacekeeping under the control of the corrupt UN our brave Troops deserve better than that.
To quote Lord Black “If you have peace you do not need peacekeepers. If you have war you need an Army”
Armies contrary to millennial fantasies do not start wars, politicians start wars, armies end wars
We have a proud history which these girly-men are ignorant of and they are disrespectful little bitches IMHCO
    Cheers Bubba

  9. “…Don’t put people on a pedestal, they will disappoint you without fail….” – I fully agree. I think it was Milton Friedman who said (paraphrasing) that rather than electing the “right” politician, we need to create an atmosphere where we can elect the “wrong” politician but he is compelled to do the right thing. It’s the culture.

  10. For the record, Canada is NOT a nation of peacekeepers. This trope was invented by the Liberal Party back in the ’50’s. Sect. of State John Foster Dulles, in trying to keep a lid on the Suez crisis approached L.B. Pearson at the UN and basically ordered him to suggest a peacekeeping force to be sent to the M.E to diffuse the situation. Pearson complied and thus a fable was born. Pearson got the Nobel Peace prize for it and the Liberals have been milking it ever since.

  11. “…Canadian soldiers chewed up the SS whenever they encountered them…”
If my Old Man was alive today, he’d laugh at that and say, “Oh yeah? They were pretty tough f****** chewing, I’ll tell you.”

  12. Trouser Trout >
“For the record, Canada is NOT a nation of peacekeepers”
Heh, a walk down memory lane:
Torture by Army Peacekeepers in Somalia Shocks Canada
    http://www.nytimes.com/1994/11/27/world/torture-by-army-peacekeepers-in-somalia-shocks-canada.html
Of course Canada has set the standards for “Peacekeepers” around the world, simply Google UN Child Sexual Abuse – Thanks “Canadian Peacekeeping” and our tax dollars at work for anyone but us.

  13. It’s not the first time I’ve heard him utter this Liberal tosh. He doesn’t get my vote.

  14. O’Leary should stick to economics. All indications are that we are in for a rough ride. If we’re not careful the Trumpster could be very damaging. That is more of an issue than peacekeeping.
Temper your enthusiasm for Leitch. If you think she isn’t a left wing nut….

  15. Huh. That was a whole lot of 155mm “peacekeeping” the lads and I fired during Medusa ten years ago.
    Who knew?

  16. “Canadians are known as peacekeepers above all and not warriors. There’s nothing proud about being a warrior, war is a desperate outcome for a human being, peacekeeping is extremely noble.”
What an asshole. The Canadian Army despises “peacekeeping.” Canadian soldiers are great warriors and won every war until 1945 and haven’t won one since. The personna he plays on TV of an insufferable prick. I suspect WYSIWYG.

  17. “There’s nothing proud about being a warrior”
This is without a doubt one of the most ignorant, uninformed and inaccurate statements that I have ever had the misfortune of reading. It simply reeks of stupidity and ignorance and would be somewhat less astonishing if it had been uttered by a member of the NDP. Yet this came from a supposed “conservative” no less who you would think would know better.
Mr. O’Leary should be mindful of the fact that, if not for “warriors”, he would be delivering his idiotic pronouncements in German or Japanese and that is based on the slim assumption that he would even be allowed to share his views.
On the moron scale of 1 to 10 I would have to place O’Leary as a solid 9. Just for comparison, Trudeau, Notley and Wynn are 10’s.

  18. I did not expect much from o’leary and to his credit ,he delivered. He has always struck me as a blow hard a faux conservative like the high functioning moron Colbert

  19. I’d call it a gaffe.
Lance hates the idea of Canada not fighting Putin.
He’s still more Conservative than the rest of the gang of PC losers.

  20. O’Leary could start by reading the stories of David Currie, Paul Triquet and Ernest ‘Smokey’ Smith, for starters.
And of course the most bada$$ of them all, Léo Major. The man who freed a Dutch city of 50,000, defended by 1,000 Germans, all by himself. And then in Korea, captured and held a position for 3 days with only 20 men, while being attacked by 14,000 Chinese.

  21. well, I’v been waiting to see what fell out of the tree as to these people who would be “conservative” leaders. scratch scratch, another one gone:-)))
And as RN said, J Tory on a national scale. So now, Tory, O’Leary, Whodat, Manning, Old hubcaps, the whole fu*king conservation party in newfberta, are there no real conservatives left in kanada?

  22. How true.
He hates Trump because he isn’t a blood thirsty Neo-Con wanting to lay waste to Russia and any other country that doesn’t surrender to those despicable war mongering globalists.
There is nothing conservative about Neo-Con’s. They come from a long line of communists starting with Karl Marx and his church burning Bolsheviks.
