…over the past decade the DEA has used domestic travel records to seize more than $200 million from over 5,200 individuals in 15 of the busiest airports around the country. …
For those who attempt to fight for the return of their confiscated property, it is an uphill legal battle that is exorbitantly expensive and often ends in defeat for the victims of civil asset forfeiture.
To make matters worse, when it comes to asset forfeiture the government is not even responsible for proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Instead, prosecutors need only prove a “preponderance of evidence,” which carries a much lower threshold than proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
That’s bad. They do this seizing of property outside of airports also with agents getting to keep what is seized. I remember reading about a case where some kid was caught peddling drugs on a small scale and they tried to seize the parents house. (Can’t remember how that turned out.) That is such a blatant miscarriage of justice.
I voted to leave the European Union. Then I caught a train to London, where I went to my local polling station. There I presented my London polling card, unchallenged. I went into the booth and wrote on the ballot paper ‘I am spoiling my ballot because I have voted already This second vote is my protest at how lax the voting rules are.’
Dilbert talks about the first direct democracy president. Bam!! Pretty solid out of the box analysis. Scary and exhilarating at the same time.
“A Trump presidency is likely to be the first direct-democracy presidency. If you think a Trump presidency – guided by the kindness of the public – would be extra-dangerous, you have been hypnotized. The evidence strongly suggests the opposite. Our direct democracy has already demonstrated that it prefers kindness to evil. For the first time in human history, love is in a winning position compared to evil. Take a moment to thank Facebook and Twitter for that. It’s a big deal.” http://blog.dilbert.com/post/149321013966/the-direct-democracy-president
Where is Hillary. Is she “missing in action?” While this is somewhat speculative I notice she will speak at only two events this month and four until the end of October. Is she preparing for the debates?
Her health problems, up until now a province of the confirmation bias, but she seems to be letting damaging revelation of Abedin/Sharia and the Foundation.

Critics accuse the Clinton campaign of hiding the candidate from unscripted questions.”
The Washington Post described the Clinton’s unwillingness to front the media as “ridiculous”, but said constant gaffes from Trump dominating the headlines meant “there’s not enough room for Clinton’s unwillingness to face unscripted, unmoderated questions from reporters covering her to get much attention”. From Donald Trump’s rally speech: “Hillary’s war on energy is a tax on the poor.”
This is absolutely correct. How is it Canadians don’t get this?
I think she has given up — her poorly attended rallies have to be an embarrassment for her, the ongoing e-mail revelations are awkward (to put it politely), and I think her health is pretty iffy. She has given up the campaign, but that does not mean she won’t become President. I believe that Trump has a lot more support at this point (despite the misleading polls), but we do not know what might be being planned re rigging the election. Hillary may know, so that might be why she has stopped going through the motions of pretending to be running a campaign for votes. Now some might see this as a “conspiracy” (rigged election), but many are concerned. After all, there is evidence that Bernie got screwed by rigged elections. There is enough evidence of dirty dealing in the past, that it is not a meaningless concern. Also — the elites are panicking about a possible Trump win, so I would not put it past them to engage in shenanigans.
Apparently she can open a pickle jar (already opened?) so that proves her health is good and she is the only candidate qualified to be POTUS.
I’ll save my vote for the ones who produced the pickles and the jar and united them.
I think she is feeling the stress of WikiLeaks very soon putting her in a pickle with voters. She needs to keep that jar shut “right” tight.

The [Huma]Abedin emails reveal that the longtime Clinton aide apparently served as a conduit between Clinton Foundation donors and Hillary Clinton while Clinton served as secretary of state. In more than a dozen email exchanges, Abedin provided expedited, direct access to Clinton for donors who had contributed from $25,000 to $10 million to the Clinton Foundation.
