After more than 50 years of warnings to cut dietary cholesterol, the panel agreed with the American Heart Association’s 2013 report that “available evidence shows no appreciable relationship” between eating cholesterol and blood levels of cholesterol.

Looks about right. Anyone who understands the basics of digestion and metabolism knows that cholesterol you ingest is so broken down and transformed that the cholesterol found in your circulation has no relationship to the cholesterol you originally ingested. The only reason I ever warned overweight patients to go light on sugar and cholesterol in the diet was that the absolute caloric content in these substances is very high and therefore makes it very easy to overshoot any total caloric intake limit one is trying to achieve. But cholesterol in does not equal cholesterol out.
my doctor told me this over 15 years ago. the warnings about cholesterol were driven by the drug industry trying to increase sales. the level is determined by your liver which produces most of the cholesterol in your body, it is a hereditory level and runs in families.
Cholesterol may not be dangerous anymore, but ecigarettes are banned ’cause ya know, they’re dangerous.
Dangerous I say.
Next!
Simply put: Dietary cholesterol levels do not equate to blood cholesterol levels. Many northern people have high fat, high cholesterol diets with no blood cholesterol issues (as long as they stick to a traditional diet). Furthermore, diabetes, heart disease and dental caries are virtually unknown in these populations. Refined carbs are the problem. The health authorities are finally waking up to this reality.
The next step is to admit that the Farmington Study that this whole Statin Industry is based on was a total farce. The millions of people in the world whose health has been destroyed by these drugs are going to be mounting class action lawsuits that will bankrupt some of these companies. Big pharma does a lot of good but this whole cholesterol theory is on par with global warming.
Think about it. How lucrative is it control a substance that your body manufactures because it critical to life. Then you continue to reduce the reading so tat almost every one on the planets needs these drugs. What could go wrong?
Do some research on the side effects of Statins. It will curl your hair. I have personally known a number of individuals who have had extensive problems while on these drugs. Most of them disappear when you stop taking them. But some of the damage can be irreversible
There is a website written by a physician astronaut whose health was totally destroyed by statin. Exceptional site for curious minds.

So they now admit that they were wrong about Cholesterol and end the article with advice not to eat saturated fat?
But, but I thought the science was settled.
Dr. Robert Atkins said in 1972 that (a) the body is incapable of absorbing more than the cholesterol of about two eggs per day any; and (b) the body has its own complex mechanism for maintaining cholesterol anyway, up to and including manufacturing it. If I recall correctly, he likened trying to control blood cholesterol levels by reducing dietary cholesterol as being akin to amputating your leg because your knee gets sore when a storm is coming. Storms will still come…
Jerks. Elderly family members and friends Suffered eating bland crap the last years of their lives based on these now-defunct studies. You’ll notice the food police are marching ahead with new restrictions based upon new studies, not missing a single thoughtful beat.
Liberal elites never lack confidence or the need to impose their beliefs on others.
Bingo!
I don’t have an increase in blood broccoli level when I eat broccoli (not that I would eat anything as disgusting as broccoli) so why would I have an increase in blood cholesterol level when I eat cholesterol? We don’t have cholesterol in our bodies because we eat meat. We have it in our bodies because we ARE meat.
Anyone who has paid even a little attention to this (such as myself) has known it was a scam all along.
I remember reading about how they determined the “unhealthy” level of cholesterol when they first started peddling this scam. They looked at the distribution of the population and arbitrarily determined that the line should be drawn such that the top one-third should be classified as high cholesterol and therefore in need of treatment. There was never any science behind this at all.
To compound this, it was later determined that although a high cholesterol level might be bad, there was no discernible benefit gained from lowering it.
I would agree, the spacedoc site is very informative, and scary re statins.
“the body is incapable of absorbing more than the cholesterol of about two eggs per day”
The cholesterol in eggs is entirely excreted by the human GI tract.
Egg cholesterol is of a type that cannot be broken down and absorbed at all by the human body.
