  1. ROME — “Italy’s highest court overturned the murder conviction against Amanda Knox and her ex-boyfriend Friday over the 2007 slaying of Knox’s roommate, bringing to a definitive end the high-profile case that captivated trial-watchers on both sides of the Atlantic.
‘Finished!’ Knox’s lawyer Carlo Dalla Vedova exulted after the decision was read out late Friday. ‘It couldn’t be better than this.’
In a rare decision, the supreme Court of Cassation overturned last year’s convictions by a Florence appeals court, and declined to order another trial. The decision means the judges, after thoroughly examining the case, concluded that a conviction could not be supported by the evidence.”

  2. RE: French video with frontal nudity!!
In or about 1963, I went to see a documentary named ”Women of the World.” It was originally shot in Italy under the heading of ”La donna nel mondo.” Here’s a clip from Wikipedia that describes the documentary that required the accompaniment of an adult over 18 years of age to view the 1.5 hr special that was rated ”Prohibited” by the Catholic church.
”Among those featured are women training in the Israel Army, a female priest in Sweden, window prostitutes in Hamburg’s red light district, bed models in Hollywood California, professional mourners in Sardinia, Lamaze classes in Switzerland, a fashion show given to the Maasai, divorce ranches in Nevada, United States Treasurer Elizabeth Rudel Smith, eyelid-shaping surgery in Japan, and spent ordnance scavengers in Western Sahara.”
My friend and I (both 15 yrs old) went to see the show at a SW Sask theater. We were with an older fellow (about 22 yrs old–lets call him Pete) who would also buy us beer on Saturdays if we kept it under 6 beer between the two of us. The owner of the theater walked down the aisle during the opening cartoon that sometime featured Wile E. Coyote, shone his flashlight down the row where we were sitting and asked Pete, ”Are those two boys with you??.” He nodded, and we watched the film. In all, there was probably 10 minutes that showed some nudity. Today, at 15, most teens have experienced sex. A much different world then.

  4. The Suzuki crowd is in for a shock as they’ve been pushing for a ban on neonics for months based on junk science and their feelings.
Neonics Not Key Driver of Bee Deaths’–USDA Study May Clash With White House Poised to Restrict Pesticide

The real cause of bee health problems is gradually coming into sharper focus. In the latest in a string of studies looking at the relationship of pesticides found in pollen to honey bee colony health, independent researchers, publishing in PLOS ONE, politely slammed many past studies that hyped pesticides, neonics in particular, as the likely driving cause of declining bee health.

The scientists–all independent and working in a cooperative agreement with the USDA-ARS Bee Research Laboratory–found that many past researchers often based their experiments on extremely high amounts of pesticides–far more than a bee would normally encounter in its life. They looked instead at field realistic doses of pesticides, although always testing at the high end of what bees might actually experience.

  5. Great link, Peter.
What I liked about it most is that Mr. Solomon has started to pick up a bit of the Mark Steyn sauciness: it wears very well on Mr. Solomon, actually.

  6. Liberal idiots a few years ago tried to get the infamous Leonard aqquited and freed and BIll Clinton was even going to grant him a pardon but the FBI stepped in now if they would only hang ADUL JIMMAL and CHARLES MANSON

“How powerhouse Venezuela has turned into a pauper”
“… years of central planning and rigid price controls have gutted domestic production of many goods, leaving Venezuela completely dependent on imports it can no longer afford. Shortages of food, medical supplies and other staples are widespread and getting worse. Those once-beneficent medical clinics are closing, grocery-store lineups last hours, and violent crime – already among the worst in the world – is on the upswing. The abrupt skid in oil prices and resulting unrest have rapidly transformed the former Latin American powerhouse into a pauper, undermining its regional influence. It is also further weakening a key competitor to Canada’s oil sands.”

Remember the “concert for Bangladesh” featuring Ravi Shankar and George Harrison? Now it seems gullible Westerners paid their money to a regime that turns a blind eye to the biggest trainers of radical jihadists on the planet, with as many as 60,000 madrassas in a tiny Country cranking out little soldiers for Allah.
The author claims a child educated in a madrassa is propagandized every day of his life to despise infidels. Thankfully, we have no Leaders here in the West that were raised in a madrassa.
    Whew.

    “Treason of the Intellectuals”
“But a new magnet for intellectuals is emerging: radical Islam.
It’s not that intellectuals are likely to embrace radical Islam themselves anytime soon – for one thing, the requirement of believing in God would deter many of them. But what they can do is obstruct efforts to combat radical Islam and terrorism, undermine support for Israel, stress the “legitimate grievances” of radical Islamists, and lend moral support to the “legitimacy” of radical Islamic movements.
This is a phenomenon at first glance so baffling it cries out for analysis. Both fascism and Marxism censored, harassed, and imprisoned intellectuals, but they also gave lip service to intellectualism. Russia and Germany both had great universities. Both fascism and Marxism appealed to their respective nations’ cultural heritage in support of their ideologies. Our mental picture of fascism is now mostly colored by images of Nazi book burnings and bad art, but before World War II fascism was quite successful at passing itself off as a blend of socialism and nationalism.”

  11. Remember, all lights on at 830pm Saturday night, REV your snowblowers, chainsaws, weedeaters, and most importantly, lay some coal with your Powerstroke, to emphasize with an exclamation point.
Saw the twits on Global Vancouver this morning talk about how neato it was to turn the lights off for an hour and “thinking of all the WATTS we saved”……..

I would not worry too much about the granola grinders sitting in the dark. That’s where most of them prefer to be. It’s part of a ritual that’s required to be admitted into the Suzukian Cult.
I once wrote a high school essay (1968) on space travel where someday, hopefully, we could get from here to the next solar system. However before we could arrive there, we would have had to discover an unlimited source of energy. That hasn’t happened yet. And it won’t happen by shutting the lights off!

    Just practicing my faith.

  15. The author deserves an award for the best bit of writing I’ve seen in years on the topic of Trudeau’s troubles.
“Keeping the power dry and tap dancing until the election is a risky gambit for Trudeau; without substance, Canadians might end up pegging him as a Marxist, and not a centrist.
For as Groucho Marx famously said: “those are my principles, and if you don’t like them…well, I have others.”
The play on Marx is brilliant.
