  3. Remember the days when somebody in the opposition benches said something phenomenally stupid. Then the media would focus on it like a laser and use it as a premise for another editorial of how the right needed to merge as one party and stop being so extreme.

  4. A few years back Libby Davies also read a petition that wanted Canada to take another look at the 9/11 attacks.
    Perhaps it is time that someone presented a petition that would require Lizzy and Libby to wear a sign stating that they are not Rosie O’Donnell whenever they speak in the HofC.

  6. Actually, an MP cannot refuse to present a petition before Parliament; whether or not they agree with it is of no import. If some of Stephen Harper’s constituents in his riding had created this petition he would have been forced to present it as part of his duties as an MP.
    From the English Bill of Rights of 1689;
    “That it is the right of the subjects to petition the king, and all commitments and prosecutions for such petitioning are illegal;”
    The Charter of Rights and Freedoms states that all rights and freedoms that existed in Canada before the Charter are still in force.

  15. A couple of months ago, I had an argument with a sane, retired engineer guy who believes Bush did 9/11. He also believed Drudge ‘unfairly’ exposed(no pun) Willy Clinton. He also thought it was disgusting how Drudge helped kill John Kerry’s presidential bid.
    An otherwise very sane, nice guy. See what we are up against? MSM indoctrination. Otherwise the likes of Liz and Willy and Johnny would be laughed off the friggin stage.

  20. You can get a copy of the petition including the names of those who signed it by requesting it from the Clerk of Petitions.
    I agree with you on ‘truthers’. They should not be allowed anywhere near power or children. They are broken headed. The ‘truther’ part of their persona is a manifestation of deeper problems.
    Also, if you want to start your own petition, there are forms available. I think you need 25 signatures, legit signatures, to make it official and worthy of being presented.

    – Spin is very effective in bringing people on side with the narrative. Similar phenomena to the live audience being able to bring home viewers on side when the applause or the laugh sign flashes.

    Everyone should question authority.
    A serious problem shows when you are given answers to your tough questions and are unable to accept the answers because they go against your unshakable ideology.

  27. I think it was controlled demolitions set up by Bush (the President, not the band).
    None of the 2000 or so people involved in planning and setting up the explosions told anyone but were then quietly murdered to make sure they couldn’t talk. That job only required 1000 hired hit-persons, who were then in turn knocked off by 500 others. On and on the planned sequence unfolded until we were left with our current status. That is, some guy who only knows that GWB paid him to whack 2 random people on the street. He wants more money and fame but he can’t find anyone in media willing to believe his story. No one at the NYT wants to pursue a story that would reflect poorly on a past POTUS.
    That’s the truth… really….

Bush wasn’t smart enough to tie his own boot laces according to the leftards, but he could effect a vary complex plan as that and all the while put things for the presidency together, all in only 9 months. Or did he start planning even before he was elected, knowing that he would be elected, because god told him so.

    Mr. Speaker, I have a petition signed by hundreds of petitioners from across Canada.
    The petitioners are concerned about funding to CBC. They feel it is very important, especially for CBC Radio in both languages, that there be national, regional and local programming to underscore our shared national consciousness and identity.
    The petitioners also comment that the $1 billion that Canada invests in the CBC results in over $4 billion in economic benefit to the country.
    So by this logic, we should start giving $2 billion to the CBC every year, and we’d be richer by a net $3 billion. Or maybe $3 or $4 billion? That way the deficit would take care of itself!
    As Tocqueville said [paraphrasing] “I don’t know if [Canadians] would vote for superior [people], but it is clear that such [people] do not run”

    Speaking of competence: my standard reply to conspiracists is that if there is a government conspiracy it will be one almost certainly centred around covering up their incompetency in allowing such horrific events to unfold. This truth is axiomatic for me.

  44. Ha, I have somewhat explored the psychology of “conspiracy theorists” out of curiosity and to better understand my own beliefs. It is quite interesting how easily these theories take hold and why. I was shocked to find out how many of my daughters’ friends still believe the lunar landings were a hoax.
    Where healthy skepticism is always vital, it is not “healthy” unless applied equally to all sides. Truthers won’t believe the media, politicians, etc.(who can blame them), but then take at face value all the bizarre crap served up by dipsh*ts all over the internet.
    You have to be a very naïve and basically STUPID person to believe the twin towers had somehow been totally invisibly and secretly rigged for demolition.
