    House of Eratosthenes:

“What exactly does conservatism seek to conserve? Civilization, the blessings that come from having it, and the definitions that make civilization possible. From what does liberalism seek to liberate us? Those things — starting with the definitions.”

  3. Headline to an article by Celine Cooper in the Montreal Gazette: “Conversations about sex are happening everywhere, except our classrooms“.
I’d go even further: Sex is happening everywhere, except in our classrooms. People are driving automobiles everywhere, except in our classrooms. Aboriginal women are being murdered everywhere, except in our classrooms…
    I could go on.

  4. Actually I’ve read numerous stories of students having sex in their classrooms, teachers having sex with teachers in school and teachers and students having sex both on and off school property. That must be what they call hands on learning.

  5. Green hypocrisy on display. Canadian Green Party MP Bruce Hyer, a US Vietnam War draft dodger, to feel for the war dead at Thunderv4h6et Bay ceremonies. Only in Canada.

  6. Since bullying is now frowned upon, and we really don’t have a Army, Navy or Airforce and have more Generals in Ottawa than Tanks , it leads to the question of what we’re going to do about it when Russia starts pushing us around.

In a country where the biggest issues seem to be useless green energy, political correctness, obesity and second hand smoke, I would question whether Putin is losing a lot of sleep regarding our resolve to defend our sovereignty. Normally we could count on the USA to watch our back, but with Obama……..well……..if only we were a Muslim nation…….

    Re: Teacher-student relations.
In the late 1960’s, it was not uncommon for teachers to date and/or have sex with their students. Why? Many provinces only required teachers to have a one or two year course at normal school or university. In Grade 11-12 that made them only a year or two older that their students. Guess what happened??
On the other hand if students were caught in same sex relationships, they could be jailed. There was a joke about two 16 year old boys getting caught having sex in the back seat of a car in a vacant farm yard. The Mountie pulled up to the car, told them to dress up, and took them to the station in the nearest town where they were to be charged. Not knowing what to charge them with, the constable phoned his Corporal. The Corporal thought for a moment, but was also unsure, so he blurted out, ”What the heck–charge them with arson.”

  8. It must have been a bit hard to swallow for veterans attending Remembrance Day services with Pierre Trudeau in attendance knowing he was old enough to serve during the the second world war but allegedly chose to be a smart ass and ride around sporting a Nazi helmet.

  9. A Canadian-born woman who emigrated to Israel and served in its military has joined Kurdish militants fighting ISIS insurgents in northern Syria, Israel Radio reported on Monday.

Liz J, regarding Pierre Trudeau’s attendance at Remembrance Day services being a tough pill for vets to swallow, I remember being on an exercise in CFB Petawawa in the late 60s when PM Trudeau showed up. The extreme dislike for the man was quite visible among the regular force troops as well as among the reserve troops.
Grandad, “At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
    We will remember them.” Amen.

  10. I just got home from a Remembrance Day Service in Whitby Ontario, and there was a highly visible “plain clothes” police presence. Apparently (never saw it myself) there was even a police sniper team on a building overlooking the sight. I can only imagine what the security was like in Ottawa.
