  1. The desperate search for anyone who doesn’t benefit from Harper’s income splitting program finally bears fruit – single income families who don’t pay income tax, and rich singles:

Ah yes, putting $4000/year back into single income, hardworking Canadian’s pockets doesn’t fit in well with tax policy, apparently. The anti-rich rants are quite humourous too. The big swing of younger NDP and Grit voters over to the Tories is priceless. Leftie heads are exploding everywhere.
Margaret Thatcher, bless her departed soul summed it up beautifully, leftists would “rather have the poor poorer, provided the rich were less rich.”

  2. The deadly EV-D68 enterovirus epidemic, which struck thousands of kids this fall, was likely propelled through America by President Barack Obama’s decision to allow tens of thousands of Central Americans across the Texas border, according to a growing body of genetic and statistical evidence.
The evidence includes admissions from top health officials that the epidemic included multiple strains of the virus, and that it appeared simultaneously in multiple independent locations.

  3. Shuswap chief Paul Sam and ex-wife making more than 200K each
Former councillor Diana Coté says she can’t understand how the Sam family can pay itself more than the Premier of British Columbia to run a reserve with 87 residents.
“I don’t see where it’s being spent, she said. “The houses are in disrepair. There are band members living with no water and sewer. So if there is that kind of money flowing through the reserve there is absolutely nothing to show for it.”
Even with the mandatory disclosure, much of the millions of dollars that passed through the reserve in federal transfers and business deals is unexplained.
Expenditures under the category of “other” totalled nearly $2.5 million over two years.
No band meeting in 8 years
The only non-member of the Paul family still on the band council is Diana’s sister Barb Coté.

  4. Drudge Report link scrubbed?
If you click on the Drudge Report, in the third column there is a header which says,
‘Obamas Border Policy Fueled Epidemic Evidence Shows…’
Which should lead to a Daily Caller article of the same title,
    except the page wont load.
    As near as I could find, there is an Investors.com article saying the same thing from 10/17/2014;
Is CDC Hiding Enterovirus Link To Illegal Alien Kids?

    And a Gateway Pundit article;
Evidence shows that Barack Obama’s open border policies fueled the deadly EV-D68 epidemic in America.

EV-D68 has been detected in 9 deaths across the US this year. The CDC confirmed thata total of 1,105 people in 47 states and the District of Columbia have suffered complications from the EV-D68.

Enterovirus EV-D68 cases have been reported in all 50 states except for Iowa, Maryland, Delaware and Oklahoma. (CDC)
The deadly enterovirus D68 was first identified in cities with large numbers of relocated illegal immigrant children.
    The Daily Caller reported:
The deadly EV-D68 enterovirus epidemic, which struck thousands of kids this fall, was likely propelled through America by President Barack Obama’s decision to allow tens of thousands of Central Americans across the Texas border, according to a growing body of genetic and statistical evidence.
The evidence includes admissions from top health officials that the epidemic included multiple strains of the virus, and that it appeared simultaneously in multiple independent locations.
The question can be settled if federal researchers study the genetic fingerprint of the EV-D68 viruses that first hit kids in Colorado, Missouri and Illinois to see if they are close relatives to the EV-D68 viruses found in Central America.

  5. Toronto Star, Wed., Oct. 29. More unsettled science, this time about cholesterol.
    http://www.thestar.com/life/health_wellness/2014/10/28/cholesterol_not_the_killer_its_touted_to_be_documentary_says.html
“‘There are far more powerful risk factors for developing plaque in the arteries,’ says Dr. Barbara Roberts, a medical professor at Brown University … Smoking, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, a sedentary lifestyle and strong family history of heart disease are far more significant [she says] … Cholesterol is a relatively weak risk factor …”
    Not only that, but …
“‘You can game the system,’ Roberts says. ‘These randomized double-blind controlled trials are supposed to be the gold standard for clinical research, but there are lots of problems with them.'”
Every article on medicine I’ve seen over the past fifteen years or so has sworn up and down and sideways that randomized double-blind trials were absolutely imperative, and nothing got approval without them. So are these just another regulatory waste of time? One that contributes massively to the high cost of many new medications?
And if you can “game the system” on these or any other kind of study, where does that leave the purveyors of “evidence-based” medicine, or anything else for that matter?
On another topic, the real gold standard is the gold standard for economics. It’s time we started planning how to go back on it.

  6. Global warmening update:
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – A surprise snow swept across parts of Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina on Saturday, falling on pumpkins and power lines.
It was the earliest snow on record in the Columbia area by eight days, according to the National Weather Service. Neither Boston nor New York City has had snow yet this fall and Fargo, North Dakota, has had only a trace of the white stuff.

  7. Shuswap Sam is living large at our expense, another example of total disrespect for tax paying Canadians. Time to sort out the whole Indian Affairs mess, this stuff has to stop.

  10. Can’t feel sorry for New Brunswick, they voted for a guy who was against fracking, they prefer to rely on Equalization, handouts from the provinces who do all the things they’re against are OK.
Let them enjoy a stormy winter to reflect on their stupidity.

  12. I’m in LOVE.
Hélène Grimaud plays the “Adagio” from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No..23.
    A new discovery for me.
A truly remarkable, exciting pianist. Some compare her to Glenn Gould for her interperpretative boldness. .
And what a great beauty she is. In profile she looks a bit like Andie McDowell.

Spend a bit more time on related links esp. Brahms Piano Concerto No 1 and Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2. Astonishing.

  13. The thing that always gets me about cholesterol is that we supposedly get it into our bodies because its in meat and we eat meat. If its in meat maybe it’s in our bodies because we ARE meat!!

  14. Are we surprised the chiefs were opposed to Harper’s financial transparency act? It seems to be bearing fruit.

  15. Your CBC at work:

Why online Islamophobia is difficult to stop..
Laws not strong enough to police it, say “experts”
The expert they quote is none other than this POS:
Fiyaz Mughal, founder of Islamophobia reporting web site TellMamaUK.org.
So now the CBC is saying its OK to criticize Christianity, Judeaism, Buddists etc…but Criticize ISLAM and we’ll have you incarcerated.
Go help us all (to as much ammo as we can get), should Justine Trudeau ever get in a sPM.

  16. Me No Dhimmi… Thanks for the tip. Helene Grimaud is a find…I look forward to more of her music.

  17. NEW YORK – While the Centers for Disease Control has removed from its website a warning that Ebola can be spread through sneezing, the World Health Organization has just issued new guidelines for health workers that specify protective equipment should be worn to protect the mouth, nose and eyes from contaminated droplets and fluids.
The WHO guidelines are based on a review of care of Ebola patients, the U.N. agency said.
Meanwhile, Friday, the CDC website removed a “Fact Sheet” posted Thursday that stirred controversy by admitting after weeks of apparent denial that Ebola can be spread by coughing and sneezing.
The WHO said the Guidelines Development Group it convened included participation of a wide range of experts from international organizations, including the CDC, Doctors without Borders and the Infection Control Africa Network.
