We blame this in part on the absence of true intellectual and ideological diversity in so much of the academy, the policy world and the mainstream media. Most college kids at good schools today know many more people from different races and cultural groups than their grandparents did, but they are much less exposed to people who think outside the left-liberal box.

Fifty and sixty years ago there was no left-liberal box.
Palin got it, but that doesn’t count because she’s not smart like those who didn’t see it coming.
The above paragraph that Lance picked out of the article sums up the problem of our part of the world well. The left-liberal disease has infected all areas of our society, and as John Lewis suggests this was not so fifty-sixty years ago. Everything from societal norms, media, religion, and geopolitical politics has this sickness.
“Is he tired of being humiliated on the international stage?”
Nope! he has a teleprompter connected to Val Jarret & she leads from the rear. The Les-Gay issues are front & center.
Val sent 4 Gay & Les to represent America @ Socci. What was
Putin to think ?
It is not just a recent lefty-lib thing. The U.S. in general has always lacked the ability to see things from a different perspective. This is not a criticism of individual Americans, some of whom think outside the conventional box, but of their Americentric educational system in general. During the Cold War, one of my jobs was to think how a Russian would act in a given set of circumstances and help my superiors plan for a possible future – and the Americans never came up with the same conclusions. All their views on opposing strategy and tactics reflected their own methods but with a red flag instead of the stars and stripes. Luckily, we never had to go to war and get the lessons learned the hard way. That could all change with the ineptness I see in the current White House, where political loyalty, not clear thinking, leads to critical appointments and wrong assessments.
I suspect that business is going to start rejecting pod people soon too. Seriously, who is more likely to turn a profit for your company? Some mindless Borg, or someone who actually observes reality with a keen eye? Companies that don’t catch n to this will fall by the wayside. Companies that get it will produce the next big things.
One also needs to add that they know next to zero of the history and culture of their own country. This is the case in the US, UK and Canada. It may also be in Australia and New Zealand, but I do not know for sure.
“The Les-Gay issues are front & center.”
You nailed it.
This administration’s policies focus on its domestic “enemies” — all the Democrats’ tough stances are for their fellow Americans. And their priorities are very distorted.
Lefties will always win the battle because they have the Law of Social Entropy on their side.
Maximum Social Disorder.
Chaos.
It’s far easier to destroy, than to create.
It takes millions of dollars, advanced skills and complex engineering and mathematics to build, say an apartment building.
One diversity with a Bic lighter can burn it down.

“War is too costly for Russia’s weak economy.”?
Let’s see. Russia’s economy is driven largely by energy prices. They’ve been fighting a proxy war in Syria that (among other things) leaves control of Iraqi gas exports to Turkey under their control. Ukraine is a key transit point for Russian energy exports, including many Soviet-era pipelines.
And, a crisis tends to put a risk bid into energy prices, driving them upward.
War is too costly for Russia’s weak economy? Not likely. War will only help Russia’s weak economy, by raising energy prices, and consolidating their control over the delivery mechanism.
Reminds me of an Oscar Wilde quote. “Everything popular is wrong.”
Gramsci, and the “long march through the institutions”, anyone?
It continues to amaze me that the majority of Americans seem not to realize that evil is an active force in the world, and always will be. Perhaps the only advantage of having a psychopath as a brother is that I have known that since I was about six years old.
