  2. This was funny, but it revealed the messianic like adoration there is for Obama.
    Reminds me of the messianic adoration for Lenin, Stalin and Hitler. They did not end well. The Politburo, led by Stalin, ignored a stroke incapacitated Lenin’s wishes, Hitler committed suicide basically alone, and Stalin’s stroke became terminal while his associates debated what to do and just let him die. Excellent ends for them all.

  9. Phantom, when have I ever mocked you? I doubted you, and that’s rather different. Specifically you and I have different ideas about the intelligence of the American voter, that’s all. That said, I will agree that this is the first time I’ve ever seen Obama mocked by the MSM.

  12. Revnant, great story. And the best bit is, “Her parents still aren’t speaking to me.” Of course not. She’s brighter than they are, and now all of them know it. And she’ll never be able to listen to her parents ranting on about some leftie cause without snickering either.
    Phantom, I still think there’s lots of Hope and Changers out there still trying to live the dream. I’m betting it’s very close in November, but it depends upon how much more bad news Obama has to absorb over the next six weeks.

    What other kind of piece could they write about him? The guy’s a shape changer and can be defined only by how others perceive him, thus the hours of adulatory testimonies, ad nauseum, telling the American people who the Great O is. (Zero’s more in need of definition than Mitt Romney, who actually has a record of business acumen and personal generosity.)
    As I pointed out in an earlier thread, this is the real meaning of Hope and Change: “I, the Healer of the planet, hope for the best and, when the worst happens, I change things real fast!”
    My only concern is, as ET has pointed out many times, too many people these days live in Fantasy Land and when a chemelian comes along asking for their vote, they’re all too happy to comply, because it makes them feel good.

  17. I’m not a talented writer and my memory isn’t what it used to be, but I am going to try and explain how I see this anyway
    Many years ago I read in Time magazine an article that was saying that the anti-tobacco ads that cigarette companies had been forced to pay for ( or had to contribute to or something) were so absurd in how they mocked cigarette smokers that in the end the ad was actually making fun of itself or of the topic.
    the ads were so absurd that in the end it was not smoking that looked stupid, it was the ad
    thus these ads had absolutely no ” deterrent” effect ( can’t think of the correct word here ) on smokers or young people who thought smoking is cool and were about to try their first cigarette
    and of course that this was all intentional, as cigarette companies had hired experts and knew exactly what they were doing
    well that is what I see in the video
    the jokes are taken to such a level of absurdity that in the end people think (consciously or not); Democrats are not that bad, Obama is not that bad, this is so absurd and so silly!!!
    that is how I see it
    and just like smokers kept theirs, in the end they will keep their bad habit of voting democrat

  19. Canadian Friend anyone who watched John Stewart on a regular basis would never dream of voting anyone but Obama anyway. Same deal with SNL etc etc etc. These are the people that actually laugh out loud at this kind of stuff. Myself I can say “yeah that’s funny” I guess but I’d never laugh at it.

    Certainly that’s what the Dems and their ‘bots in the media -want- us to think, and I do agree that there are some.
    But the actual number of hard-core supporters? Its really small. Furthermore most of them don’t believe the hype.

    The way you guys are going, given the downsizing of the venue this time, in four years you lot will be able to hold the Democrat national convention in a coffee house.

    This isn’t real mockery.
    It’s mock-mockery, hyper-irony. Irony squared, or cubed.
    It’s not mocking Obamessiah, only some of his a little-over-the-top idol-worshippers who after all got a bit too enthusiastic and cursed Obamessiah with impossible expectations.
    The jist of the bullshit (funny as it was) is that, heh, unlike the tight-ass Repubs we are bigger, broader, more open.
    We can laugh at ourselves, unlike those earnest God-fearing patriotic family-value guys with their ridiculous America-is-the-greatest-country-in-the-history-of-Jesus rhetoric.
    The Obamessiah can take a joke. SEE!
