Professor Dan M. Kahan and his team from Yale University surveyed 1540 US adults and determined that people with more education in natural sciences and mathematics tend to be more skeptical of AGW climate science. Of course this means that people will less education are more apt to be duped by it.

The conventional explanation for controversy over climate change emphasizes impediments to public understanding: Limited popular knowledge of science, the inability of ordinary citizens to assess technical information, and the resulting widespread use of unreliable cognitive heuristics to assess risk. On the whole, the most scientifically literate and numerate subjects were slightly less likely, not more, to see climate change as a serious threat than the least scientifically literate and numerate ones.”

Yeah, yeah, I’ve seen the study. The difference found by them is small enough to be insignificant. More importantly, though, the conclusion has nothing to do with AGW denial in the form exhibited here. The study found that more educated individuals are less likely to see it as a serious problem. Only idiots like the SDA crowd deny that it’s a real phenomenon. There is a world of difference between those viewpoints. I don’t see it as a serious problem either, but I’m certainly not retarded enough to claim it doesn’t exist, or to tout the linked article as an epic win for AGW-denial.

Thank you James for saying it so succinctly-the whole exercise by Watt was to merly prove that Gore’s experiment was a farce-nothing more, nothing less. Read into it what you may. The tragedy would be to have Gore’s ‘high school physics’ experiment shown in our schools,and not counterbalance it with the Watt experiment(s). Additionally, the Watt experiment could demonstrate the value of proper scientific technique.
The other problem with Gore’s experiment is that, even if it did work as he says it did, and it also conclusively showed that CO2 did absorb more heat than regular air, it still has little bearing on the effect of increasing CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere. CO2 is a greenhouse gas because it absorbs a part of the light spectrum that would otherwise happily escape the atmosphere. The great bulk of this spectrum is already being absorbed by existing CO2 levels, which means that adding more CO2 to the equation has diminishing returns. What Al Gore’s experiment does is add a fresh new source that has not already passed through the totality of the atmosphere to the equation, which spoils the experiment. For the experiment to have any bearing on the effects of CO2 on our climate, the heat lamps must be removed and replaced with direct solar energy (i.e. set the jars out in the sun).

I’ve never been convinced by the “intelligence” arguments for the simple fact that most of you are motivated by ideological factors rather than a rational analysis of the data, as are most of the dimwits on the left. Both extremes are completely incapable of separating science and politics. The very fact that the divide is based on ideological grounds would suggest there’s probably no serious difference between the average intelligence and education of the two sides, but it also makes the question of intelligence completely irrelevant.
Anthropogenic literally means caused by humans. No, I do not believe in an AGW or climate change crisis. It’s not ideology it’s simply common sense.
