Tonight’s amusement en route to the Tips features some exciting footage from the 2008 Beard and Moustache Championships, held in the small Bavarian town of Eging am See.
The beard: Nature’s way of saying “back off, ladies!”

Remember the guy who “threw a book” at Obama in Philadelphia? Turns out he was an “over-exuberant supporter.”
Geezes , just looking at the seismic monitor , there was a 4.9 magnitude quake in central Chile a while ago . Damn i hope they get those poor bastards out of there . I think I’d have said screw it myself before now if I was down there . I can’t stand being in the back of a a 2 door car .
Everyone in Toronto, and many across Canada, are familiar with the case of David Chen. Chen is the hard working grocer in Toronto’s Chinatown who, along with staff, arrested and held a well known thief until the police could arrive. The police did arrive, and then charged David Chen with various trumped up offenses and cut a deal with the the thief (Anthony Bennett) so Bennett could testify against Chen.
Well, Bennett has been arrested again: “The 52-year-old, who has 43 convictions, was charged Friday with five counts of theft under $5,000, according to Toronto Police Staff Sgt. David Woodley.”

I wonder what Bill Blair (Toronto police chief) will say now. The crown’s star witness indeed.
Dear EBD,
I am wrong to enjoy watching the Atlanta Braves choke yet again?
Danish leftist gets stoned
Danish viewers got a real taste of what multiculturalism is all about when this news segment goes bad. What starts as a pro-immigration, pro-multicultural interview, ends with Arab and African thugs chanting profanities and throwing rocks at a television crew.

Dear Infinity Squared,
No, it’s not wrong in the slightest, not as long as they’re playing in a stadium named after CNN founder Ted Turner, née Mr. Jane Fonda.
People in the Philippines who sing the national anthem incorrectly face up to two years in jail and a fine of over $2,000.
If they ever pass a similar law in the US we’ll be seeing a lot of pop and soul singers marched out of stadiums and arenas in handcuffs.
If you’d like to hear an excellent synopsis of where things stand on the American political scene then listen to this. It’s the first segment from Sunday’s John Batchelor show on WABC in New York City. The fun starts at 2:45.
I wasn’t really old enough to fully understand just how bad a president Jimmy Carter was, but I really do wonder if anyone could be worse than Obama? Is it possible that someone with as big an ego as Obama can already realize how dreadful a leader the historians will portray him?!?
Thanks, Robert, for your ongoing and most excellent links to interviews/radio shows. I’ve enjoyed them all, and never would have found them otherwise.
Plus, being mp3s (as opposed to video) links, they’re very quick to load, which is a boon for those – especially in rural areas – who are on slower connections.
Thanks again.
EBD, thanks for your kind words. In point of fact, I try not to overload this site with such links but when I hear a gem, I figure others might enjoy it too!
No worries there, Robert, they’re always welcome links – quick-loading, interesting, well-juried (by you), and much appreciated.
Globe and Mail, Monday. Letters to the Editor (I can’t find a link).
A woman writes concerning an article Saturday about women in the labour force.
“Second problem – use of pink in the graphics. The conversation about pink in association with women is fraught. It’s often associated with softness, delicacy, the whole ‘sugar and spice’ bundle of gender stereotyping. Perhaps it was chosen to subvert steretotype, but this is not how it reads.”
Jeez. We’ve just had the pink ribbons for breast cancer campaign (a good cause), what with marathons for fundraising, NFL players with pink shoes and towels, and a page of pink-only colour in the Star cartoons this past Saturday. And now a presumed feminist who hasn’t got with the program is complaining.
I guess the problem with political correctness is that it’s hard to ensure that all the morons keep their stories in sync.
Even the victims of 9/11 can now be sued for defaming Islam. You got to start asking yourself when authorities allow this how infiltrated we are. Have we already lost?

–Video might be up for another day or so.
See it while you can.

Many of their persecutors were university students and schoolchildren. But theirs was also a death warrant signed by fellow-travelling intellectuals in the West.”

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Adam Lambert has pledged to obey Malaysian government rules that forbid the flamboyant, openly gay glam rocker from kissing anyone onstage and wearing revealing clothes for a concert this week, a show organizer said Tuesday.

The Afghan teenager, Bibi Aisha, whose face was disfigured by the Taliban, is about to have reconstructive surgery in the U.S. I really hope she stays there — or at least stays out of the way of the evil Taliban. She’s a beautiful young girl, and I’m so happy for her and her family that she’s able to be helped to get her nose and ears back.
