  2. Geezes , just looking at the seismic monitor , there was a 4.9 magnitude quake in central Chile a while ago . Damn i hope they get those poor bastards out of there . I think I’d have said screw it myself before now if I was down there . I can’t stand being in the back of a a 2 door car .

  3. Everyone in Toronto, and many across Canada, are familiar with the case of David Chen. Chen is the hard working grocer in Toronto’s Chinatown who, along with staff, arrested and held a well known thief until the police could arrive. The police did arrive, and then charged David Chen with various trumped up offenses and cut a deal with the the thief (Anthony Bennett) so Bennett could testify against Chen.
    Well, Bennett has been arrested again: “The 52-year-old, who has 43 convictions, was charged Friday with five counts of theft under $5,000, according to Toronto Police Staff Sgt. David Woodley.”

    I wasn’t really old enough to fully understand just how bad a president Jimmy Carter was, but I really do wonder if anyone could be worse than Obama? Is it possible that someone with as big an ego as Obama can already realize how dreadful a leader the historians will portray him?!?

  9. Thanks, Robert, for your ongoing and most excellent links to interviews/radio shows. I’ve enjoyed them all, and never would have found them otherwise.
    Plus, being mp3s (as opposed to video) links, they’re very quick to load, which is a boon for those – especially in rural areas – who are on slower connections.

    A woman writes concerning an article Saturday about women in the labour force.
    “Second problem – use of pink in the graphics. The conversation about pink in association with women is fraught. It’s often associated with softness, delicacy, the whole ‘sugar and spice’ bundle of gender stereotyping. Perhaps it was chosen to subvert steretotype, but this is not how it reads.”
    Jeez. We’ve just had the pink ribbons for breast cancer campaign (a good cause), what with marathons for fundraising, NFL players with pink shoes and towels, and a page of pink-only colour in the Star cartoons this past Saturday. And now a presumed feminist who hasn’t got with the program is complaining.
    I guess the problem with political correctness is that it’s hard to ensure that all the morons keep their stories in sync.

  24. I’m praying for those miners.
    The Afghan teenager, Bibi Aisha, whose face was disfigured by the Taliban, is about to have reconstructive surgery in the U.S. I really hope she stays there — or at least stays out of the way of the evil Taliban. She’s a beautiful young girl, and I’m so happy for her and her family that she’s able to be helped to get her nose and ears back.
