5. I recall the lads adopting local strays and certain authorities ordering them destroyed….almost inciting mutiny…..
   There were many criics of General Westmorland but he was sharp on this. Army vets were dispatched to properly inoculate these “mascots” for distemper and rabies.
   McNamara did not aprove but Victor Charles didn’t either….so the dogs stayed…..
