    As for the blind support, you`d have to be a fool in the summer or 2008 to NOT see what a shallow, unqualified candidate Barack Obama was for the Presidency of the United States. He didn`t have the qualifications to be the manager of your average Walmart.

  30. Morgan’s opinion in this piece is obviously correct. His support of Obama in light of what has happened since is at odds with this opinion.
    The REAL test is…
    Does Morgan Freeman support Obama now?
    If he does then he is the anti-thesis of the opinion in the clip above. If he does not, then he can be excused for being sucked into the post-racial vortex that was the obama’08 campaign.
    Does anyone know/have proof that he now does not support Obama?

  35. Not wanting to be the dissenter in this bunch of bananas, but the races and skin colour and nationality are there to challenge our inner man to the core!
    Want to find out how good you are at loving your neighbour? Not only critique a man by his words and deeds, but also by his habits, nuances, skin colour, upbringing, social status, wealth…all the things which contribute to the man.
    The skin colour of another man only exposes my heart, allows me to deal with and bring under control and discipline that which I have been taught and that which I therefore feel, so as to be able to love the other guy. I get challenged with it every day, it comes up and I am forced to either give in or fight the monster.
    Morgan is right, but can he live up to what he preaches? Not sure if I can!

Did he think that Freeman would all of a sudden get all comfy with him, because you know … we are kindred spirits? Did he think that Freeman was unaware, or surprised by that great revelation? It’s like Leonard Bernstein holding a cocktail party for the Black Muslims (or whatever they called themselves) and expecting a some kind of shared affinity.

  37. Along with Bill Cosby, Morgan Freeman should be given medals for saying the things about racial issues in America that they do. I’ve long maintained that 99% of all white people don’t give a rat’s ass what color someone’s skin is, but 90% of all non-whites do, and that’s a sad fact.

    A lot of aboriginals look “metis” and a lot of “metis” look like my ancesters from the bogs of Scotland and Ireland. The solution? call everyone else settlers and demand reparations.

But I also believe that, like myself, my fellow posters just want a sliver of hope that our stereotypes and impressions are not the reality of what the black community in North America is all about today. Good people don’t like to hate but they don’t like lying to themselves either. All too often men like Morgan Freeman and Bill Cosby just turn out to be a mirage in the middle of a vast wasteland of self-distruction and well-earned contempt.

    I’d argue that there are many otherwise “good people” whose opinions of others are informed too much by the 11 o’clock news and not enough by actual face-to-face interaction with them.
