Is there nothing that Obama can’t do?
Afghanistan:
Peak fatalities/year under Bush: 155
Peak fatalities/year under Obama: 298
h/t shaken – “Where is Code Pinko when you need them? Is the MSM expecting The One to bring them back from the dead, so it’s premature to count them? ClimateGate. War dead. No difference these scumbags.”
Am watching Loose Change Final Cut as I await a phone call from one of my school board’s supervisors in response to an email I addressed to the Director, not a supervisor, complaining that Loose Change An American Coup was shown to my greatgranddaughter’s class.
Not sure just which film was shown, but am viewing all in order to make a case.
My grgrdau’r came home believing that no one was on the aircraft that crashed into the towers, and goodness knows what else.
U.S. propagandists had an opening into our schools through a social studies teacher who was advancing her own political/social views. Judging from her embrace of global warming and the teaching that attacked farmers, I’d say she was a green voter. Ours is a rural school, so she was treading on dangerous ground there.
Can’t wait for the telephone call. She wanted to visit me in person, but I couldn’t trust myself.
Code Pink is protesting. Cindy Sheehan was at Travis Air Force Base yesterday in protest.
Today, we hear that they’re protesting his decision to send more troops.
I’m grinning from ear-to-ear thinking about the headaches he was getting as he spent the last month mulling over this decision.
“Damn, I just won the Nobel Peace Prize and I’m caught between the rock of my leftist base and the hard place of the American people on this Afghanistan thing.”
He should have known that undermining one war was going to have the same effect on the other.
But how would a community organizer with no executive, military, or foreign affairs experience be expected to know that?
Hmmm this seriously one thing I think is unfair to comment on Obama’s performance. Death of soldiers are not something to use for political points. It is really a technical matter. Nor is it something fair to reference him with in such manner.
Now I assume the point was merely meant to wash away some of saintly aura of Obama. I still find this is still distasteful.
I would not tolerated it used by left nor will I tolerate it being used by the right.

Good judgement call….these 5th columnists will deliberately incite and risk injury to take you down. When they enjoy numerical superiority they resort to violence…and feel justified to swarm a victim.
They haven’t advanced much from when they ganged up to steal your lunch money in elementary school.

Take a cue from Ezra’s ordeal. Its time to start exposing the rot in public education.

My BS meter just went off….I have no doubt you did it too with no hesitation—-it was an integral part of demonstrating Bush-Derangement-Syndrome.
sasquatch: no fifth column can swarm me. I’m lethal with my cane. She’s the one who was in danger. You’ve heard of Mrs. Tiger Woods? Well, I’m maybe 50 some years older than she but can be just as vicious when crossed.
Maybe it’s because Obama has put 17,000 more troops there since taking office you half-wits.
Mitch in The East, Obama had a recommendation from his general months ago. Prior to that he had recommendations from the previous general. He has done nothing but stall on the Afghan situation. I would say it is very fair to comment on his performance, or lack thereof. It is the one and only issue he has to deal with where his failure to act can be directly measured with a body count.
Definitely a spike in the #’s since the summer.
Even if you are correct Mitch, how this is perceived will define what these numbers really mean.

You missed my point—that is possibly exactly what she may seek. Suckering you into giving her a thrashing makes her a victim and hence vindicated in her political agenda.
These loons are nuts enough to “take one for the team.”
You just end up in the clink…
One of the drawbacks of living in a “civilized” society…….
I agree Indiana Homez this certainly a matter subjective perception, not so much objective.
I just feel it is illegitimate to complain about the body count. As with all wars and conflicts there are ups and downs. Sometimes you are dealt rotten cards.
Obama has done little in changing doctrine from the previous administrations, other then committing more resources. Which is a good move.
I agree with the notion that this dismisses many on the lefties ideas of smooth sailing under Obama.
However since the body count is going up, this hardly means it is reflect of his success or failure as of yet. What next we count bullets fired and bombs drop? These are tactics the nonsense left uses. If the count had gone down, I would scald anybody for using that as marker of success.
If may cheekily suggest, a real maker for success is not how many dead we have, but how many our enemy has.
defining the Code Pinkos as scumbags is a massive insult to all scumbags.
Code pinkos far lower than pond scum, oozing skanky, badly diseased, smelly detritus of the political swamp.
Got it this time, sasquatch. Thanks.
When the call comes in, I’ll be polite and ooze sweetness.
@2:31 – Bmac, you genius – why would putting more troops on the ground nearly double the casualty rate? Is it because there are now more soldiers there to get killed? Is that how it works?
(I’m not trying to troll-bait; I’m genuinely curious about the thought-process.)
That would be the reason the surge in Iraq failed.
The commentary is on his politically motivated dithering, juxtaposed with the absolute disinterest in media in the rising body count – one that we were reminded of daily when Bush was in office, and they were counting them in Iraq.
Who changed the rules of engagement? It stands to reason if you can’t shoot them they have a better chance of getting you.
Hint – little to no thought process.

Vietnam redux.
why are the political bosses of the UN sponsored (or whatever) nations providing troops (including Canuckistan) so fcukin’ eager to announce the withdrawal date so far ahead of time? (didja hear that stevie harpoon?)
I thought one of the cardinal rules of warfare is to keep the enemy guessing . . .
jist askin’ !
Well it’s obvious, the left will argue that the violence in Afghanistan is directly proportionate to the number of troops the allies have there. Remember, if it wasn’t for “old white guys” in the first place EVERYTHING would be hunky-dory!
As for the future, two “Torch” posts:
“Afstan: Big Marine component of second Obama surge/Update thoughts: But how many new forces overall and why Helmand first?”
“Afstan: 500 more British troops confirmed/Update: PM Harper holds fast”

Good question, here are my thoughts:
First, like acquiescing to the left on AGW, PMSH’s declaration of Canada’s withdrawal from Afghanistan is political genius. At this time the opposition have no traction on this issue. Ideally for them, PMSH would be stubborn and be keeping the troops there indefinitely, but he’s not. Obama can only wish he had the foresight to declare Americas desire to leave Afghanistan in 2008, but had he done that he might not be POTUS. PMSH should be the envy of all liberals in the USA.
Politics aside, why has PMSH done this? At first glance it does appear that PMSH is playing politics with the military; and, that’s how many Conservatives felt at the time he made the announcement. Since then BO has “dithered” on the file while at the same time America still has an open request for more Canadian troops. Now, I may be a homer, but it’s not too much of a stretch to think that BO’s election and his apparent policy flip-flop was predictable.
For now, I’m going to give PMSH the benefit of the doubt and assume that he’s many steps in front of us, the media and BO. If PMSH believes that the Americans do not have the will to follow-through and win in Afghanistan, then PMSH has shown leadership like no other, declaring Canada’s intentions upfront. Furthermore, it is much more comendable to be upfront and keep your word as opposed to saying one thing and meaning another. Who do you think the Afghans respect and trust?
Finally, I can give BO the benefit of the doubt and HOPE that he gets positive results in Afghanistan. Under those circumstances I’d be open to Canadian troops returning to duty in Afghanistan, but for now PMSH has played his hand perfectly considering this “dithering” President. JMO
Homez:
Parliament voted to end Canada’s deployment in Afghanistan.
Prime Minister Harper is merely articulation the will of Parliament.
It’s no more mysterious than that.
ANYTIME the MSM in Canada reports the death of another Canadian soldier in AFgnstn,it is ALWAYS accompanied by the obligatory comment “this is the xx number of soldiers killed in Afgnstn”.ALWAYS, WITHOUT FAIL.
If we sit back and let them do that without any response it just lets the left continue to get away with their propaganda.
Horny Toad
Hey, mebbe ya wanna stroll over to icasualties.com & check out a comparison on the fatalities in Iraq under Obama vs. Bush?
Or would that impede your attempt to score cheap political “points” on the bodies of dead soldiers?
Number of troops in Afghanistan under Obama after the 35,000 surge; 5 – yes FIVE – times more than under Bush.
Wasn’t Obama elected because he would bring peace to the world unlike the evil warmonger Bush who ate puppies for breakfast?
Liberals are so gullible words escape me.
a CBCpravda headline if Ive ever seen one. Obama decides to not decide and announces without announcing , his plan , his order , his nothing. he couldnt run an icecream stand with two flavours this TOTUS
http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2009/11/30/obama-afghanistan.html
Unless, curious george, you have no intent of actually doing so; that could be very injurious to the enemy. It could be injurious to the Conservatives too, but only if it brings failure in Afghan.
Hey, friend of USA didja see Obama announced today that the Afghan war will be wound up in 3 years?
Once again you’re wrong, misguided, and stupid.
But then that goes without saying: you are a conservative.
