Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your delectation and pursuant to our Take Five show yesterday, here are Al Jarreau, Tom Canning, Jerome Rimson, and Nigel Wilkinson, performing Take Five ¤, in Germany, in 1976 (8:03). By the way, tonight’s SDA LNR cheese selection is Hawes’ Wensleydale. There’s something about this cheese, like the Lancashire that we previously featured, that just says, never mind the bubbles or the blue veins: this is cheese.
Your Reader Tips are, as always, welcome in the comments.

maz2 Narcissist expose has this chilling conclusion and is all Barry, IMO:
“It is important to understand that the use of violence must be ego-syntonic. It must accord with the self-image of the narcissist. It must abet and sustain his grandiose fantasies and feed his sense of entitlement. It must conform with the narcissistic narrative.
Thus, a narcissist who regards himself as the benefactor of the poor, a member of the common folk, the representative of the disenfranchised, the champion of the dispossessed against the corrupt elite – is highly unlikely to use violence at first.
The pacific mask crumbles when the narcissist has become convinced that the very people he purported to speak for, his constituency, his grassroots fans, the prime sources of his narcissistic supply – have turned against him. At first, in a desperate effort to maintain the fiction underlying his chaotic personality, the narcissist strives to explain away the sudden reversal of sentiment. “The people are being duped by (the media, big industry, the military, the elite, etc.)”, “they don’t really know what they are doing”, “following a rude awakening, they will revert to form”, etc.
When these flimsy attempts to patch a tattered personal mythology fail – the narcissist is injured. Narcissistic injury inevitably leads to narcissistic rage and to a terrifying display of unbridled aggression. The pent-up frustration and hurt translate into devaluation. That which was previously idealized – is now discarded with contempt and hatred.
This primitive defense mechanism is called “splitting”. To the narcissist, things and people are either entirely bad (evil) or entirely good. He projects onto others his own shortcomings and negative emotions, thus becoming a totally good object. A narcissistic leader is likely to justify the butchering of his own people by claiming that they intended to kill him, undo the revolution, devastate the economy, or the country, etc.
The “small people”, the “rank and file”, the “loyal soldiers” of the narcissist – his flock, his nation, his employees – they pay the price. The disillusionment and disenchantment are agonizing. The process of reconstruction, of rising from the ashes, of overcoming the trauma of having been deceived, exploited and manipulated – is drawn-out. It is difficult to trust again, to have faith, to love, to be led, to collaborate. Feelings of shame and guilt engulf the erstwhile followers of the narcissist. This is his sole legacy: a massive post-traumatic stress disorder.”
Thanks maz2
Spengler, Blame Michael Jackson
Public mourning for Michael Jackson crowded out other news last week, including the long-awaited papal encyclical on economics. Somehow that seems appropriate. Since 1985, this pontiff has argued that markets can be no better than the moral character of their participants. What we call “youth culture” for lack of a better word …
The public’s grief was unfeigned and profound, for Jackson embodied the desire of a generation, that is, never to grow up. Oscar Wilde’s Dorian Gray had a portrait that revealed his inner decay, and Michael Jackson had a nose. If one image captures the spirit of the times, it is that nose, which narrowed, shrank and finally fell in, in emulation of the failing youth of his fans…
terry tory – yes, I fully agree; that’s a good description of Obama, who in my view, is a pathological narcissist. The ‘pathological’ refers to its being severe and outside the realm of treatment.
You can see the steps of his behaviour. He moves from his manipulation of crowds by his misinformation, his utopian rhetoric – to his hostility to criticism. In this stage, he’ll react to criticism by insults and denigration, as he did with Hannity, Limbaugh, FOX news and the Tea Parties. At a later stage, people who reject him cease to exist as people; he’ll either ignore them, or, he can go further and justify their harm.
What we see now, is more complaints from Obama that the people must ‘be patient’ (i.e., they are complaining, they aren’t in his control); his telling them that THEY are the problem (impatient) and not him.
Then, there’ll be diversions, as he attacks the Bush administration. This is both a diversion and an example of what he does to people who are not in his control.
He’s setting up internal divisions, of political parties, of race, of administrative departments (CIA vs Congress). This weakens the ability of the people to criticize.
And, he’s putting in a level of government, those ‘czars’ who are unelected and sycophantically dependent on Obama. This increases his power and weakens Congress – which he has already weakened by refusing to allow them time to even read his Motions before passing them.
What’s next? Obama needs to live in a bubble, a fictional world where he controls everyone. Can he and his staff keep him in this bubble – in which case, he retreats more and more to its isolation, or will he feel threatened by the intrusions of the real world?

It’s official (what we all knew anyway)::
Algore admits that it really is about global government:
Former Vice President Al Gore declared that the Congressional climate bill will help bring about “global governance.”
…
Gore’s call for “global governance” echoes former French President Jacques Chirac’s call in 2000.
On November 20, 2000, then French President Chirac said during a speech at The Hague that the UN’s Kyoto Protocol represented “the first component of an authentic global governance.”
“For the first time, humanity is instituting a genuine instrument of global governance,” Chirac explained. “From the very earliest age, we should make environmental awareness a major theme of education and a major theme of political debate, until respect for the environment comes to be as fundamental as safeguarding our rights and freedoms. By acting together, by building this unprecedented instrument, the first component of an authentic global governance, we are working for dialogue and peace,” Chirac added.
Former EU Environment Minister Margot Wallstrom said, “Kyoto is about the economy, about leveling the playing field for big businesses worldwide.” Canadian Prime Minster Stephen Harper once dismissed UN’s Kyoto Protocol as a “socialist scheme.”

Fast on the heels of Tony Blair’s press release than now he is done with politics he is in the save-the-world rackets, we see he has a royal pretender making the same world-saving noises.
Apparently the Royal inbred Charlie (inept, idle upper class twit extraordinaire) has sent out the word that he can save the world in the 96 months it has left before green armageddon. Of course earth saving measures includes the world population surrendering to a new global economic fascism and feudalistic society run by old wealth and technocrats. What better spokesman for the new world saving collectivist feudalism than someone who’s family is closely acquainted with feudal tyranny.

Crooks, liars & con-artist that defrauded the Canadian Taxpayers of Millions of $$$$ & Got away with it, so therefore they should give the Award to Liberal Party of Canada.
I just converted from Monarchist to Republican.
This was just one step too far.

Reading some of the comments, one wanders, are that many poeple in some other world?
They are criticizing Murphy instead of what he wrote about their symbol.
bryanr – There is no way that the Queen thought of giving Chretien, or anyone, that award, on her own. She was advised – and that means that Chretien has been lobbying, probably for several years, for the award.
Chretien is an egotistical, narcissistic individual (no, not similar to Obama’s pathological narcissism). He considers himself ‘superior, supreme’; he’s always talking about himself. That award was a result of hard, deliberate lobbying. Real hard lobbying.
As we all know, however, Chretien is a crook, totally corrupt. As one political analyst said, “you do not use the word ‘principles’ and ‘Chretien’ in the same sentence.
Chretien is wholly, totally, without principles. Totally unethical. And what is remarkable, is that he has such extensive connections in the Backroom Network, that he’s managed to get away with it.
He and his ‘balancing the budget’. Hah – what a joke. That was achieved by offloading costs on to the provinces!
Oh – and his GST? How about that?
And his very own Sponsorship scandal, which saw taxpayer money used to fund Liberal campaigns in Quebec?
And his taxpayer benefits to his buddies – such as special airports in two-bit towns?
And..his connections to the Desmarais, PowerCorp and Maurice Strong corrupt cabal?
Chretien is a basic crook. Hmm. That does indeed define the Liberal party, doesn’t it?
Goreacle says:

“The temperature at the Portland jetport only reached 58 degrees
yesterday. This set a record for the coldest high temperature on
July 7th. The old record was 59 degrees set in 1961. To put this in
another perspective… the normal low temperature for July 7th is 58
degrees.
The low temperature on Wednesday was 55 degrees. This produced a
range of only 3 degrees between the high and low temperatures which
is a record for the smallest daily range in temperatures on July
7th. The old record was a 4 degree spread set in 1963 and 1995.
The 3 degree daily temperature range yesterday also tied the record
for the smallest daily temperature range for any day in July. The
record was established on July 16th, 1961 and occurred five more
times before this year.”

Can you imagine in your wildest nightmares the Queen doing this? This little thug did nothing for Canada or the world. When asked what his greatest accomplishment was in his career his response was “Winning 3 majorities”! I defy anyone to name 3 major items he enacted in his 13 years beyond beggaring the provinces like Ontario by cutting the transfer payments and stealing the EI funds to allow him to crow about paying off the deficit. How was he able to retire a multi-millionaire unless he was bought by Strong and Power Corp?
In my life I have never despised a politician as I do Chretien. Even Turdeau was a better person than this POS.
“In my life I have never despised a politician as I do Chretien. Even Turdeau was a better person than this POS.”
I’m with you on that.

andudell – Chretien didn’t rely on government salaries for his income. He’s an investor, and he’s in with the BackRoom Gang in Quebec.
He’s been involved in the massive corporation that is the Desmarais Gang, Power Corp etc for years. They are financiers and business funding agents all over the world – they are big in China, which is why Chretien is there a lot…and has close ties with Maurice Strong.
Desmarais is the financial support behind Chretien, and Mulroney and Martin – they are all part of the same Montreal financier set.
Putting these guys into political power enabled Desmarais, Power Corp etc to ‘get things done’ in other countries.
BTW,the Chretiens recieved a $2 mil. mansion 6 months after leaving office. It is titled in Aline’s name. The donor was Powercorp. CBC is still deciding whether or not to do a ‘Fifth Estate’ expose on this .

We all hear about how arts and culture government spending gets a “huge return on investment right?
From the GPC site:
http://www.greenparty.ca/en/policy/artsandculture
“According to Statistics Canada, in 2003-4 (the last year for which comprehensive arts statistics have been published), with an investment of $7.7 billion from three levels of government, the arts and culture sector directly employed 600,000 people and generated $40 billion for the Canadian economy. That’s a return on investment of more than 500%. Approximately 25% of this gain goes directly back to tax revenue—which is more than the initial investment.”
Sounds good to me… except from the very stats can report that they cite:
http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/87-004-x/87-004-x2003001-eng.pdf
“It is not surprising to find these three sub-sectors, which are composed of mainly profit oriented establishments, dominated the culture sector, compared to other sub-sectors that are largely composed of non-profit oriented establishments(for example, libraries and performing arts).”
In other words, the $7.7 billion provides nowhere near of the GDP or employment that the GPC(and others) attribute it to.
Not surprising.

“In West Wing: Grueling Schedules, Bleary Eyes
The White House mess — the military-inspired term for the West Wing cafeteria — opens at 7 a.m. each day. And each day, there is a long line of hungry staffers who have already been at the office for well over an hour.
By 8 p.m., as the doors to the mess are about to close, the orders flow again as bleary-eyed staffers grab dinner before heading back to their offices for another conference call or meeting.
“I think the mess hates all of us,” said a frequent customer who is a senior adviser to President Obama.
In a city where work can border on obsession, the Obama staffers stand out. They are not quite the walking dead, but their eyes are frequently ringed with the bags that accompany exhaustion.
“This is a place, because of the stress, the schedule and the sheer hours, that just chews people up and spits them out,” said press secretary Robert Gibbs, whose alarm clock is set to 4:30 a.m., though he ignores the early ring more often these days.
All West Wings face fatigue at some point, but the Obama team has had a particularly frenetic start, the result of inheriting the worse economic crisis since the Great Depression and the team’s own seemingly chaotic drive to push an agenda that includes the creation of a new health insurance system, auto bailouts, Middle East peace, nuclear nonproliferation, two wars and education reform.”
