  1. There is not a chance in hell that I will ever endorse a liberal so I hope that is not how you read this. I am 70 years old and have never had a passport. That is no hindrance to finding a job here in Canada. The only times I was ever out of work was when I wanted to be. There was not one word in that article about being forced to stay there at gun point or whatever. If they did not like the damn job QUIT and go get a better one. It is really irritating when people like that start bellyaching and then the politicians start their drivel about it. This to me is a non story.

  2. Fail to see AZ’s point and its relationship to Ruby Dhalla’s situation…. who by the way has no children or elderly parents to care for.

  3. OMG, you actually linked to the pig pen.
I`m sending you the bill for the clean up of vomit on my new white carpet and the surgical strength eyewash required after viewing a photo of that communist bootlicking s£ut.
    Please don`t do that again!

  4. this chick takes women right back to the kitchen (and 1961).
    Seems proud of it too.

  5. Bob Devine, if you are relying on the Dhalla family for your sponsorship in Canada and they take your passport, then yes, they do have you at the point of a gun. Apples and oranges.

  6. Actually Free, it’s the other way around, the Libs are paying $3.13 an hour. Let’s give credit where credit is due, they are only fifty years behind the times, not a hundred. See, they’re progressives.

  7. “My guess is, a disproportionate number of male MPs, relative to the population, have stay-at-home wives and so they can fulfill their duties with a degree of ease and comfort knowing the homefront is covered.”
I feel like a bit of a broken record today but doesn’t the statement above boiled down to CHOICE? This statement is another example of a woman being a victim.
On second thought I’ve ripped a comment from the other story linked today, I guess these should apply here:
“Sarah Palin is a Bad Mother!” The alleged voter heard that Palin had a 4-month-old child with Down Syndrome, and asked: “How in the name of GOD, can she even think about leaving her child or taking her child on the campaign trail for 70 days?”
I guess this means that Ruby is a “bad mother” for not staying home with her kids.
“Did it ever occur to Sullivan (or the alleged woman voter) that maybe Palin’s husband could take care of the child?”
Did it ever occur to Zerb(or the alleged liberal MP) that Ruby’s husband could take care of the child(s) while she worked. Surely this is a better solution than underpaying and taking advantage of a woman.

what yukon gold said, if you now want help extracting your foot from your mouth, I only charge $60.oo/hrs:-)))))

  9. Sulking in his tent: As a way of confirming just what a headache this is turning out to be for Michael Ignatieff, the Liberal leader has decided to avoid the press:
Well here’s a twist on the usual state of affairs.

We can’t get Michael Ignatieff to come and talk to reporters today. A statement on the Ruby Dhalla resignation will have to do, we’re told.

Maybe hiding under your desk counts as leadership in Harvard.
Come on, Steve. Let the man eat his pork sandwich in peace.

  10. Here’s the comment I just left on the site. Let’s see if they ever publish it:
What a strangely worded piece. Ms. Zerbisias, you state that you’re not excusing the alleged actions of Dhalla. Then you immediately provide provide a moral equivalency, portraying female MPs as victims compared to their male equivalents.
First you viciously attack Michelle Malkin, a successful Filipino-American. Now you go out of your way to suggest an excuse for Ruby Dhalla’s actions. You might not mind employing Filipino women but you surely don’t view them as possibly being your equals.

  11. Apparently, this affair has really confounded the libs and left.
She is a shining example of multi-culti (and I concour. I would be happy to marry this woman). Yet, she has (perhaps not her) done what everyone else does, in terms of paying as to avoid stupid payments to stupid governments. But, worse, she has withheld passports, blah blah blah.
I do not know the facts. I await a plain dealing in court, if necessary. But it is interesting to see how this has put the left-liberal in a froth, running around not knowing what to think.
Salvator Iggy, where are you when we need you?

  12. Strange part is that this scandal made it to the MSM. Liberals still have many friends in the media covering up their dirt all the time.

  13. ‘R W’, I agree with you fully.
May I add that the greatest failing of the multicult crowd is the implicit assumption that everyone of colour must be a wonderful, kind, nice person.
I’m in an interesting position with regard to all of this. On the surface I’m just “another white guy” but I happen to know literally hundreds of non-Caucasian people, many of whom I consider to be personal friends. I’ve been welcomed into dozens of minority families as an adopted son/nephew of sorts.
Once there, I’ve observed and listened and observed some more. As comedian Russell Peters has perhaps said better than anyone else, people of colour are just like the rest of us … with the same problems, blemishes, good and bad.
Only time will tell what kind of person Ruby Dhalla truly is. But the notion that she couldn’t possibly be a nasty piece of work because she’s a brown skinned woman is an exceedingly racist point of view.

  14. So females of colour can be assholes. I thought it was just us white guys.
    Who knew?
Interesting to see how Iggy handles this crisis.

  15. Norman, I know, a shocker to be sure! Though remember, we’re still the only ones capable of violence.
Postscript: It appears that not one commenter left anything positive for our favourite T.O. Star nitwit. How do I know this? Because my comment (and I’m fairly sure several others) were not published and now the comments are closed.

  16. Shorter Zerbisias!?
    Oh – you evil girl…
…a recursive pun and the gosple truth!
The loci of her thoughts are of such diminutive stature, and orbit such a strange attractor, that their event(ual) horizon will truly be a singular experience.
‘pologies…Fullers ESB now stocked at my local communist monopoly.

  17. I heard you had to be a lesbian to be a true feminist.
That way children would not stand in the way of a more important calling … being a short-haired, pain-in-the-ass pretend man at work.
Plus, the fact you could strap on a plastic dick and …. never mind.

  18. People who were raised in a hierarchical class culture have no problem operating in a master/ servant (slave) relationship. I’m pretty sure Ruby would treat a gardener the same as the nannies if he was in Canada under the same circumstances.
The Persian Gulf Arab states are being built mainly from workers from the sub Continent. The office level Indians (and the women are the worst) can order their fellow Indian cleaners and labourers around like dogs. Although they try and do this out of sight of the Canadians of pallor because it pisses us off and they want to included as members of the “higher” class.
It’s not paternalism it’s just another pavilion at the folk fest.

  19. Cal: I bet you’re right, although I know little enough about Dhalla and wouldn’t want to slander her (’cause I’m cool like that). I take it Ms. Dhalla, (born in Winnipeg) is from a high caste Punjabi family, although of course that information isn’t provided on her Wikipedia page, because it’s not very nice to talk about things like that.
Now Zerb… well she’s the poor woman’s Heather Mallick. And that’s just terrible.

  20. This Ruby in the rough never belonged in politics…B movies showing off plastic parts is more like her.
I’m not being partisan here. I also believe Rona Ambrose or Ghernis are not political material.
Diane Oblonczi? Damn straight, she fits right in.
The world desperately need leaders with vision, spines, courage and conviction. But unfortunately, it seems the ones who are not afraid of speaking their minds and true convictions are the bad guys: Iran, Venezuela and the likes.
The free world is stuck with effeminate, let’s please everyone and no one, cowards.
Where are the Marge Thatchers, Ronald Reagans and Winston Churchills?
We have our Stephen Harper…He’s smiling and playing the docile little shoulder shrugger with a tear in his blue eye which so many women and journalists seem to “force” upon society…Let’s give him a much needed MAJORITY to see if the mask (I’m hoping it is) finally comes off.

  21. Foot in mouth.
I said:”I guess this means that Ruby is a “bad mother” for not staying home with her kids.”
Apparently this woman doesn’t have kids; so my bad. That being said, the story mentions Ruby’s nanny many times, and the term “nanny” implies the employer has a kid(s). Sorry.
The last part of my statement still applies, she could have stayed home to take care of her mother instead of taking advantage of the two “nannies”.

Bahrain… our moral & intellectual superiors.
“The current system, which is common to all Gulf countries,
has long been criticised by human rights groups for placing
workers at the mercy of their employers.”

    Geez… that sounds so familiar.
