BBC is reporting mullah omar is dead:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7692373.stm
A suspected US missile strike has killed 20 people, including a top Taleban commander, in north-west Pakistan, witnesses and officials say.
Mohammad Omar was among the dead when the missile, reportedly fired by a pilotless US drone, hit a compound owned by him in South Waziristan.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. is actively considering talks with elements of the Taliban, the armed Islamist group that once ruled Afghanistan and sheltered al Qaeda, in a major policy shift that would have been unthinkable a few months ago.
Senior White House and military officials believe that engaging some levels of the Taliban — while excluding top leaders — could help reverse a pronounced downward spiral in Afghanistan and neighboring Pakistan. Both countries have been destabilized by a recent wave of violence.
Read the full WSJ article, it goes into far more detail then the G&M’s (and others) article. Quite a bit different then what Taliban Jack was suggesting a little over a year ago.

Anybody know why Glenn Beck is off CNN? Not a peep as to the reason. Seems to be a hush hush agreement.
I heard that Glenn Beck accepted an offer from Fox News to start in 2009 and CNN suggested he leave early.
Hello SDA readers. The other day I got an email with a bunch of Democrate party talking points. I would like some of the wordsmith out there to deconstruct this if you have the time either with links or why the point is bogus. For instance the point about the family can be debunked with a picture of the end of Senator Obama’s acceptance speech with his family. So any takers?
The email in full:
Democracy is not average people selecting average leaders. It is average people with the wisdom to select leaders best prepared.
What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three month old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?
What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident, when she no longer measured up to his standards?
What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?
What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)
What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
What if Obama couldn’t read from a teleprompter?
What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?
What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem?
What if Michelle Obama’s family had made their money from beer distribution?
What if the Obamas had adopted a white child?
If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are? This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

“What if ”
If wishes were horses beggars would ride.
If ifs and ands, were pots and pans,
there wouldn’t be any job for tinkers.
The video probably won’t be released for some time. Until then we must be content with the following, just think Mullah Omar instead of Neil Sedaka.

Good summation of the Paul Martin Whine, “Paul Martin’s Revisionist History” by Lorne Gunter in the Ottawa Citizen today.
Gunter’s last paragraph in the column, “Admittedly, I haven’t read “Hell or High Water” but I’m not in the mood for political fiction”. That’s what I interpreted from the excerpts being pushed in the media during his launch.
We can wait until the price is right and the book is in bookstores for a loonie.
Dominic LeBlanc to run for Liberal booby prize. Who is Dominic LeBlanc will be the question from Ontario to BC.
LeBlanc is an empty suit and looks like he doesn’t know what it’s all about IMHO. He’s good on the smart ass file, in a juvenile way. David McGuinty would be another of the same ilk if he decides to get into the ring of fire.
It really doesn’t matter who goes into the race with the two organized front runners, Iggy and Bobby,it’s down to which will they support of the two in the bitter end.
Not a big deal qwerty1.

Ottawa Islamic terrorist plotter GUILTY. He was linked to UK plotters. Just another isolated incident from the religion of peace I guess…
——————
OTTAWA (Reuters) – A Canadian man who was the first to be charged under a tough new anti-terror law was found guilty on Wednesday in a trial linked to a plot to carry out bomb attacks in Britain.
Judge Douglas Rutherford of the Ontario Superior Court ruled that software engineer Momin Khawaja was involved in a terrorist group and found him guilty of several charges. Khawaja was tried without a jury.
He had pleaded not guilty on all counts.

After 9/11 I slowly realized that we damn well better listen when people say they are going to kill us because their religion requires it, and they are actually acquiring the means to do just that on a mass scale, and while that production is underway they are doing it, just more slowly than they’d like.
I now know that defeating global terrorism is the single most important issue of our time. It is more important than global warming, than welfare reform, than stem cell research, even than reproductive rights. And that’s because none of those issues can be addressed if we’ve been subjugated to Islamic fundamentalist terrorism. As I said to the PBS interviewer but what was edited out, “my daughters won’t have reproductive or many other rights if they are dead or burka’ed.”
So, on to the issue I consider paramount when evaluating candidates for President:
Understanding who and what our enemies are and what plans they have to defeat those enemies…
Trudeau choice in online poll :^)))
We should be so lucky…

(Via Comment Central) Simon Heffer, Barack Obama is the Busby Berkeley of modern America
Barack Obama is the Busby Berkeley of modern America. He is ordained as the great choreographer who will spirit America out of its misery, using not his own millions but the billions of the taxpayer to put the country back on course. Having listened all year to his message of “change”, and being entirely unclear what it means, perhaps at last we have the answer. It is The Great Cause Of Cheering Us All Up.
The reverence with which Mr Obama is regarded by most of the American media, and by much of the American elite, is such that, when I see him on television, I look — so far in vain — for the stigmata on his hands. This feeling is entirely appropriate, for what America seems to be preparing to embark upon is the most massive act of faith. Not since 1960, and the election of Jack Kennedy, has so much disbelief been suspended by so many in such a massive cause. If it does indeed translate into an Obama victory on Tuesday, further prayer may well be in order. Not long after Gold Diggers of 1933, I seem to remember, came The Grapes of Wrath…
Momin Khawajha plotting terrorism while working for our government sure must be a wake up call for the Socialists and Leftoids who are all strung up about bring the Khadr spawn “home” to Canada. Well, maybe not.
It’s not a time to be complacent, Canada could have many more.
How do we know all about the hale and hearty trio who are now looking for an apology and God knows what else from us, for their alleged torture in Syria and Egypt or wherever? No more apologizing for anything on behalf of all true Canadians for something we had no direct part of. No more money either.
Our security is now even more important with this latest guilty verdict. Going off to homelands like Syria and Egypt for the usual excuses,to seek a bride or visit is their own responsibility. People on watch lists are our responsibility for our own security and will remain on them as long as necessary. Tough titty, we don’t do torture and we don’t do terrorism.
“Mourning Old Media’s Decline [Via the New York Times!]
Mourning Old Media’s Decline By DAVID CARR
The news that Google settled two longstanding suits with book authors and publishers over its plans to digitize the world’s great libraries suggests that some level of détente could be reached between old media and new.
If true, it can’t come soon enough for the news business.
It’s been an especially rotten few days for people who type on deadline. On Tuesday, The Christian Science Monitor announced that, after a century, it would cease publishing a weekday paper. Time Inc., the Olympian home of Time magazine, Fortune, People and Sports Illustrated, announced that it was cutting 600 jobs and reorganizing its staff. And Gannett, the largest newspaper publisher in the country, compounded the grimness by announcing it was laying off 10 percent of its work force — up to 3,000 people.
Clearly, the sky is falling. The question now is how many people will be left to cover it.
It goes on. The day before, the Tribune Company had declared that it would reduce the newsroom of The Los Angeles Times by 75 more people, leaving it approximately half the size it was just seven years ago.
The Star-Ledger of Newark, the 15th-largest paper in the country, which was threatened with closing, will apparently survive, but only after it was announced that the editorial staff would be reduced by 40 percent.
And two weeks ago, TV Guide, one of the famous brand names in magazines, was sold for one dollar, less than the price of a single copy.
The paradox of all these announcements is that newspapers and magazines do not have an audience problem — newspaper Web sites are a vital source of news, and growing — but they do have a consumer problem.”

One of the four RCMP officers involved in the Tasering of Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski is facing charges of impaired driving causing death after a collision in Tsawwassen Saturday.
However, Delta police — who are investigating the crash — have refused to identify the officer until he makes his first court appearance on Jan. 15 and is formally charged.
Orion Hutchinson, 21, was riding westbound on his motorcycle along 6th Avenue around 10:20 p.m. Saturday when his bike was in a collision with an eastbound Jeep at Gilchrist Drive.

Font:****Hutchinson, who was thrown from his bike, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep, an off-duty RCMP member, was transported to Delta police headquarters where, Delta police say, he failed a breathalyser test.
The officer was released on a promise to appear in Surrey Provincial Court on Jan. 15, 2009.
Delta police say they expect the officer to be charged on that date with impaired driving causing death and driving over the legal limit, though he could also face additional charges.
Delta police Const. Paul Eisenzimmer said police decided not to hold the officer in custody because he wasn’t considered a flight risk.
“He has no prior record,” said Eisenzimmer. “So there was no reason to believe he wouldn’t attend court.”
The decision by Delta police to release the officer also means his name could remain secret for months.
That’s because if he had been held in custody, he would have appeared before a judge or justice of the peace and the charges against him formally sworn — meaning police would have no reason not to release his name.
Eisenzimmer denied the officer received special treatment.
“He hasn’t been dealt with any differently,” he said.
“He got the same treatment as anyone else with that kind of background would have.
“If there had been reason to hold him, he would have been held.”
Eisenzimmer refused to release further details about the crash — including how much the officer was over the legal limit — because the case is still under investigation.
While the officer’s name has not been released, RCMP Sgt. Tim Shields confirmed Tuesday the officer is one of the four who was involved in the Tasering of Dziekanski on Oct. 14, 2007.

Amir Taheri, Beware the Obama Machine
In an opinion piece published by the New York Post in September, I drew public attention to Senator Barack Obama’s attempt to interfere with negotiations between Iraq and the United States regarding the presence of American troops and future defence co-operation between the two countries. I argued that by trying to undercut the incumbent president, Obama had broken a golden rule of American politics and manifested either his naïveté in matters of diplomacy or, worse still, a remarkable degree of cynicism.
At first, the Obama camp tried to ignore the whole matter. However, when it became clear that the issue was attracting massive public interest, it reacted in three ways…
Shiraz Maher, The Future of Unholy War
This public spat between al-Qaeda’s leaders quickly fuelled suggestions that the movement was imploding under the weight of internal dissent…
But that optimism belies the terror group’s history and ignores circumstances that first gave rise to it almost 20 years ago, suggesting that al-Qaeda is likely to emerge from this storm unscathed. Perhaps the best illustration of this is the story of a hugely-influential Islamist militant named Abdullah Azzam…
Michael Burleigh, All at Sea Over Pirates
Piracy is a very modern scourge that exists in dangerous proximity to Islamist terrorism, both as a source of revenue as well as the potential use of, for example, a liquefied gas tanker as a maritime super-bomb. Counter-terrorist agencies in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore conduct drills to prevent such an eventuality. A recent incident off Somalia involved pirates threatening to explode a huge ship laden with benzene unless the Japanese owners paid a ransom. There is hard evidence that Somali pirates are closely co-operating with the Islamist al-Shabaab militia…
