Allow me to introduce readers to the incoming Supreme Court Justice, Rosalie Abella. This page from the socialist manifesto quote should provide about all Canadians need to know about her.
“We need to understand that “equality” does not necessarily mean treating people the same… Sometimes equality means treating people the same, despite their differences, and sometimes it means treating them as equals by accommodating their differences.”
Justice Abella is also famed for her ruling to the age of consent for male homosexuals in Canada to 14 because she concluded the law
“arbitrarily disadvantages gay men by denying to them until they are 18 a choice available at the age of 14 for those who are not gay, namely their choice of sexual expression with a consenting partner.” … “perpetuates rather than narrows the gap for a historically disadvantaged group — gay men — it does so arbitrarily and stereotypically, and is, therefore, a discriminatory provision which infringes the guarantee of equality.”
This is assuming her appointment survives the grueling committee review process.

This is a farce. This is Martin cynically stacking the Supreme deck to get the gay marriage thing passed. How Irwin Cotler could say that the selection was done by merit, and not smirk, is beyond me. The Supreme Court is now nothing more but a rubber stamp for every left wing, politically correct, garbage legislation which is ruining this country.
Argh… …then again, credit must be given to the politicians who give these judges such excellent material to work with: the idea of legal sex between 14-yr-olds of ANY sex is vile.
Kelvin it was Rosalie Abella that lowered the age of consent to 14, in order to accomodate homosexuals whom she said were being discriminated against. Oh yes we have a real winner now. If you took Clare L’Heureux-Dube’s far left views and multiplied them by five, you might be close to good old Rosalie. We are in for it.
“…arbitrarily disadvantages gay men by denying to them until they are 18 a choice available at the age of 14 for those who are not gay, namely their choice of sexual expression with a consenting partner.”
She’s got a point. Let’s raise the age of consent back to 18 where it belongs for both gays AND straights.
