2020 Debates: Watch Party

One drink for “Come on, man!”
One drink for “Drug test”
One tiny sip for each time Chris Wallace rescues Biden. I won’t be held responsible for alcohol poisoning.
Drain the bottle for “ear piece”.

The debate begins at 9pm Eastern.

Timing is everything: The old Gray Lady ain’t what she used to be, but she can still manage to conjure a story out of nothing. Using stolen tax returns and mirrors, the New York Times manufactured a scandal that will allow Chris Wallace to ask President Donald John Trump about his taxes at tomorrow’s debate instead of asking Biden why he and Obama used the FBI to spy on President Trump. (It’s deja vu all over again).

The strangest campaign in history.

And this just dropped.

  1. A shiteshow, IMHO. President Trump debating Chris Wallace. Sleepy Joe calling PDJT a liar and a clown. Definitely NOT my parents’ Presidential debates. Biden did better than I expected. During the first half hour I wished President Trump would stop interrupting but after an hour I thought, good, get it all out there; the MSM isn’t reporting it so tell it to the American people.

  2. Trump did ok, Biden did ok, good and bad moments for both of them. Wallace was as predicted. Biden’s moment where he confused Hunter Biden with Bo was remarkable in that it was a clear memory loss. I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about it. Trump’s answer on transition of power was perfect, that they had refused to acknowledge his win for 4 years.

One of his repeated errors was to interrupt Biden on the brink of Biden blowing an answer. He needs to listen longer and time those interruptions better.

Climate change pivot was great, Wallace handed him a gift by framing it with the forest fires.

It’s worth remembering that we (meaning the engaged right) get our information from alternative sources. For many Americans, including those on the right and center right, some of the disclosures by Trump may be the first they’ve ever heard of it, because they still rely on the network news, and it just doesn’t exist there. So they may have learned new information that only Trump himself was capable of delivering in that venue.

  3. Winner — POTUS TRUMP!
Throughout, POTUS Trump remained a complete gentleman.

Shame on Chris Wallace. This was not a debate. Trump had two people yammering like yentas at him. This was a hectic hot mess of a train wreck.

Throughout the ~ 90 minutes Biden called Trump names and made unfair statements, such as:
“Liar,” “the worst President ever,” “a racist”, “a do nothing,” “always playing golf,” “ridiculous,” “this clown”, “shut up, man,” “not true,”  “he has no idea what he’s talking about.”

The “shut up man” is a let’s go behind the woodshed & duke it out statement. Did Biden forget that he was in a debate? That, right there, made him lose the debate tonight.

A big deal of all the many good and important topics was the subject of the Paris Accord and the Green New Deal that Democrats want to foist on Americans. Biden  d-e-n-i-e-d  that he was for the Green New Deal. Said that he has a Biden Plan. What? Wish Wallace asked him what exactly THAT was! A golden opportunity was missed.

Best moments of the night were Trump’s. Biden hardly dared to look Trump in the eye. Sign of a Liar!

Best line of the night by Trump: “I’ve done more in 47 months than you’ve done in 47 years.”

Put another way, do we want to look at Melania or Frumpy Jill for the next 4 years?
Mrs Trump had a plain pin-striped business suit and 6 inch heels. She looked marvelous!

  4. Final thoughts…agree with much of Roseberry’s comment at 11:01. Are there many undecided voters watching these debates? It’s entertainment; bread and circuses.

I believe that in today’s political climate, we are so ideologically entrenched that a Presidential debate is not going to influence or change our vote and tonight’s debate is a prime example. Biden may not have crumpled but he certainly didn’t come across as “hungry,” for want of a better word. In 2008, you KNEW Obama wanted to be president; McCain just didn’t have the same fire in his belly. That was my take away from Biden tonight.

And…the bar cart is a little lighter this evening. A bid you all a good night.

  5. Joe got caught by Chris when he asked him if he had called the Democrat Mayor/Gov’r of Portland and asked them to shut down the Riots… Joe mumbled and said he was not elected….. I would say Joe owns the Riots….

Joe Said the Green New Deal was NOT his… The Bernie manifesto was not HIS….Will K.Harris resign..

He refused to answer the Filibuster & Packing the Court… Truth is that Democrats WANT the Filibuster option because it allows VOTES to be bribed. If the Filibuster was eliminated the Senate would become a life or death issue because the Party loser would be useless to that STATE….

MSM are afraid that a fraudulent Mail- in- Voting scam will start a Civil WAR… Trump can’t control the angst that the Media has created….You own it Chris… Best if the SCOTUS shuts down those cheating….

  6. Two hours that we’re never going to get back.

Maybe there is some five-dimensional chess being played but for the life of me I don’t know why Trump would bombastically interrupt Biden at every turn. The longer Biden talks, the more trouble Biden gets into. Someone who has Trump’s ear and is smart is going to have to take him aside and give him some proper preparation for next time.

  7. The best thing that Trump has done in his 47 months is orchestrating the Israel Arab peace accords. Add the Serbia Kosovo accord as well. But these were NOT mentioned by anyone.

    1. I noticed that as well and said as much to my husband. Trump could have mentioned it when questioned about his record.

  8. The questions were awful. The “answers” were awful. Trump came across as a bozo with his interruptions and bombast. Biden stuck to his false and misleading talking points well for a crooked old political lifer whose mind is in question. Trump likely scored a few more points than Biden but the pain of watching it was too much. I doubt that many minds were changed or made up from this “debate”.

  9. As an old debate and speech judge I take a pass on these debacles. They have absolutely nothing to do with debate.

While all this crap was going on I sat on the bank with my dogs and watched the river flow. A prairie sunset in the west and an almost full waxing moon rising in the east.

  10. As a debate and speech judge I don’t watch these debacles.

Took the dogs and sat on the bank and watched the river flow. Prairie sunset in the west and an almost full waxing moon rising in the east. Whata sight.

  11. Yup, Wallace sided with Biden, and yup it was pretty lame. Bidin in denial on everything, and Trump rambling. After fifteen minutes, I lost interest, bet kept the TV on the Fox channel, but took time out to make and eat supper, had a glass of Brandy, and half a glass of disappointment!

In short, it wasn’t worth anyone’s time.
