  1. The smack downs need to get more frequent and harder. Ignorance is a common trait of socialists.

  2. Except back in January Trump had access to US intelligence telling him that the situation in China was very bad, and the WHO was making pretty sensible recommendations that Trump and many others ignored. There goes that counter-narrative.

    1. “As a matter of practice the National Center for Medical Intelligence does not comment publicly on specific intelligence matters,” he said. “However, in the interest of transparency during this current public health crisis, we can confirm that media reporting about the existence/release of a National Center for Medical Intelligence Coronavirus-related product/assessment in November of 2019 is not correct. No such NCMI product exists.”

Any other guesses on who knew what are just guesses. I would even put them in the class of conspiracy theory.

      1. Note the specificity of the date. “November”. Far be it from me to suggest the hireling of a serial liar would dissemble to protect his boss.

        1. So Trump’s intelligence guy said the medical situation in China looked bad.
At the same time, Trump’s medical experts (and the WHO) said the medical situation in China was nothing to worry about.
And Trump chose to believe the medical experts…while you apparently wanted him to believe the intelligence guy.

Reverse that for a moment – what if the medical experts had said it was bad, and the intelligence guy had said it was nothing to worry about, and Trump had believed the intelligence guy over his medical experts?

Admit it, you’d be howling for his head – and rightfully so.

Trump could cure cancer, and you’d bitch about all the unemployed oncologists.

Fact is, Trump made the best choice under the circumstances with the information that he had.
          Case closed.

        2. November, the first death in china from covid-19, so it was om by then. So Go eff yourself goof

    2. I find it interesting that Trump and Trudeau basically took the same actions although Trump acted sooner and ramped up testing much more effectively and yet blumpf is a giant screw up according to Canadian media. Really makes you think. If we ever get another CPC prime minister they’d better either double the bribes or gut them. I’m thinking the upping the bribe would probably be more effective.

      1. The testing roll-out in the US was a gong show. The CDC decided to create their own instead of using a known working one, and then the first few batches didn’t work properly. Testing went a lot better here, but we still could have done better.

    3. UnMe; please become a Human and ignore what appears to be the role of a paid librano troll, or at a minumu a wanna be Paid; Thank you for playing the foil here; but not Now.
As you read this facebook page you will note the massive number of CCP Covide 19 cases in Italy & France; please remember how China ‘s Communist Party coninued to allow thousands of China’s desperate contract workers were allowed to Fly from Wuhan China to Italy as sewing machine workers.France is next door to Italy and both are overrun by Islamic financial immigration.

We do not know if there is collusion between the Iranian “return of the Caliphate” failed scheme and China; but it should be investigated as Canada’s failed Covid 19 agenda still allows Foreign Country Airplane Passengers to enter Canada without Covid 19 testing or examination.*

In addition Canada’s ‘Key’ individual for Covid 19 Oversight is a Dr. Tam who has been revealed as being a member of the WHO organization as well as P.M. Justin Trudeau’s go-to in this situation.

I do wonder where Canada’s Agenda on the mitigation of the spread of the Corona Virus would be:__ if Canada’s geographical proximity to Canada’s largest Trade Partner, the U.S.A. under Mr. President Donald J. Trump’s oversight of this pandemic had not Stopped all Flights from China.

A major side-step against the Inept or otherwise activity of C.C.P. clearly untransparent Political Ploys. A judicious and carefully considered Decision without receipt of valid information from the WHO and Certainly from C.C.P. actions. A decision made and kept inlace against the standard & almost rabid denouncements from the Democrat Party Leadership & Their controlled Main Stream Smeardia; plus the regretful European Union Bureaucracy and remnant individual national Governments.

    4. How many more times does that FAKE story have to be debunked? Oh well … you are certainly debunked on a regular basis (every post).

    5. Still suffering from TDS I see. Note that WHO was still parroting the CCP no human to human transfer in February. Like I said before, Wuhan virus can be tamed, TDS is terminal. The main symptoms are an inability to not lie, and stupidity.

    6. Reply to UnMe:
Here is what happened in Wuhan back in January.
On January First, they closed the wet market. But no one besides the wet market knew about it. In the meantime, the city authorities’ official position was there was no epidemic.
This year, the Lunar New Year is early, on Saturday Jan 25. The traditional clan dinner is on New Year’s Eve, and the whole previous week is the busiest travel day in China. Trains and highways are always completely clogged that week. Literally millions of people travel to other cities from Wuhan, and from other cities to Wuhan, to be infected and then return to their own cities. All that went completely unhindered. The city authorities arrested people who reported otherwise. Only after the horse has left the barn did they close down Wuhan.
What fictitious US intelligence could possibly have told President Trump that the situation in China was very bad? The best it could have done was report an epidemic in Wuhan.
And what “pretty sensible recommendations” did the WHO make, in real life and not up your arse? The WHO in February in fact reported as fact the Chicom contention that the Wuhanvirus is not communicable from person to person, and the risk to other countries was minimal. That was the party line then. De Blasio in New York and Pelosi in San Francisco told the people
to go out and enjoy themselves, anywhere they wanted to, including Chinatown. President Trump in late January closed air traffic from China, and the Democrats said he was xenophobic.

      1. And … now … the ChiComs discovered a rounding error in their DEATH count. I guess Apple required an explanation as to why 10% of their workforce failed to show up on Monday …

And now … it is projected (via viral mutations) that the ChiCom-19 actually arose to the South of Wuhan … as early as Sept. 2019.

    7. Prove it or STFU. US Intelligence said, after the fact, Chinese data was faulty, which everybody knew.
There goes your false narrative. You are an idiot. The warning was in November when nobody had heard of coronavirus.

    8. Sure he did, and we know that because you were there.

Trump vs State and Local government responses to COVID19
The assessments of the federal government’s response to the coronavirus outbreak have already begun.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) — who was holding his doomed impeachment trial as coronavirus arrived in the U.S. — has proposed a bill to create a 9/11-style commission.

That bill is likely dead on arrival, but some kind of examination is inevitable.

When it happens, it should note that no government — federal, state, or local — was fully prepared to meet the challenge of the new pandemic.

Take New York, for example. The New York Times — which is determined to scapegoat President Donald Trump, and conservative media, for the outbreak — nonetheless reported last week that New York State had been slow to respond.

      https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/08/nyregion/new-york-coronavirus-response-delays.html

“The federal response was chaotic. Even so, the state’s and city’s own initial efforts failed to keep pace with the outbreak, the Times found.”

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio encouraged residents to go on with life as normal, well into mid-March.

      https://ny.eater.com/2020/4/10/21215170/nyc-mayor-dining-out-restaurants-bars-coronavirus-nyc

The Times added: “For many days after the first positive test, as the coronavirus silently spread throughout the New York region, Mr. Cuomo, Mr. de Blasio and their top aides projected an unswerving confidence that the outbreak would be readily contained.”

“We don’t think it’s going to be as bad as it was in other countries,” said Cuomo on March 2.

And yet Cuomo has emerged, somehow, as a media darling during the coronavirus crisis, though he arguably mismanaged it.

Other Democrats also dropped the ball.

We know already that the Obama administration failed to replenish the stockpile of supplies that President George W. Bush created.

      https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/04/03/fact-check-did-obama-administration-deplete-n-95-mask-stockpile/5114319002/

Moreover, if there were any state or local governments that had been prepared in advance, we would have heard about them by now.

None were, and the media, desperate to find alternatives to President Donald Trump (and with opponent Joe Biden confined to a bunker in Wilmington, Delaware), have focused on hailing Democratic governors like Cuomo, even when Cuomo responded belatedly to the threat.

The Wall Street Journal noted some governors on both sides have earned bipartisan support during the crisis. But none — not one — saw it coming… but the NYT thinks Trump should have seen it coming.

Last week, I posed a rare question on Twitter asking for any examples of state or local governments that had been prepared.

Were there any that had stockpiles of ventilators, of N95 respirator masks, of personal protective equipment (PPE)? Were there any state governments that had pre-existing partnerships with the private sector to develop rapid tests for a new pandemic, or to track people who had been exposed to possible infection?
      The effort came up empty.

Ironically, there were two such governments that had once been somewhat prepared: California

      https://www.breitbart.com/health/2020/03/31/l-a-times-democrat-jerry-brown-cut-californias-ventilator-stockpile-mobile-hospitals/

      and New York City.

      https://www.breitbart.com/health/2020/04/07/report-new-york-city-auctioned-off-ventilator-stockpile/

In both of these cases, Republican leaders prepared for possible pandemics by stocking up on emergency supplies, which were later auctioned off or otherwise removed by their Democratic successors, and which were never replaced. It is worth examining the circumstances in which then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg (now a Democrat) acted.

Both did so in the wake of efforts by President Bush to encourage pandemic preparedness — in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, when the mainstream media punished Bush for what they portrayed as a lackluster federal response to the disaster (though state and local authorities deserved the blame).

Though the anthrax attacks that followed 9/11 suggested the possibility of a terror attack using a biological weapon, and the SARS outbreak in Asia in 2002 raised the possibility of a pandemic, it was Katrina that seemed to inspire action.

Schwarzenegger and Bloomberg realized the mainstream media would never forgive a lapse by a Republican governor, and acted. Unfortunately, what they did was then squandered by Democrats who followed them.

(Notably, there do not seem to have been any Democrat governors or mayors who took the same lessons from Katrina: they knew the media would never hold them accountable, just as it is not holding them accountable now.)
      https://twitter.com/ByronYork/status/1247938280353665025

Every level of government, including the Trump administration, was aware that a pandemic could occur. And there was even some effort to prepare: President Trump issued an executive order on vaccines in September.

      https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/executive-order-modernizing-influenza-vaccines-united-states-promote-national-security-public-health/

and issued a new pandemic strategy in November 2019

      https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/statement-press-secretary-global-health-security-agenda-2/

But much of the focus was on influenza, not a SARS-like disease. Moreover, the fact that recent outbreaks, such as MERS, turned out to be less widespread than feared may have created a false sense of security.

The only governments anywhere in the world that were well prepared were a few in Asia — like South Korea and Taiwan — that had been hit hard by MERS five years ago. In response, they developed a rapid-response testing system and encouraged the public to wear masks in case of an outbreak.

The fact that these insights were not transmitted around the world is among the many failings of the World Health Organization (WHO) that must be examined carefully once the worst of the crisis is over.

In retrospect, it will be clear to all that the West in general should have been better prepared for the coronavirus outbreak — that the unique conditions of rapid industrialization in certain parts of the world, alongside persistent pastoral cultures, facilitates the movement of viruses from animals to the human population.
Moreover, the growing integration of the global economy means that those viruses can travel quickly. That is why many of the recent viral outbreaks have begun in China.

But any honest inquiry must note: not one Western government was fully ready, nor were state and local governments.

And who was advising the President? Anthony Fauci said on Jan 21, “This is not a major threat to the people of the United States and this is not something the citizens of the United States should be worried about right now.”

And we cannot ignore that when the coronavirus began, Washington was distracted by a pointless, partisan trial to remove the president, who was the one person doing anything about the problem.

If Trump had taken more drastic action, Pelosi and Schiff would have accused him of abusing his power and trying to distract from the impeachment process.

Trump did what he could do, and after being advised of the threat, and while still answering the impeachment sham, he ordered a travel ban from China on Jan 31. The next day, Joe Biden called his travel ban, “racist and xenophobic.”

Joe now supports the travel ban.

  4. One death due to corona-virus is a tragedy. A million due to influenza is a statistic.

    1. Oh cool we get play the snarky irrelevant statistics game. Fine mooselimb, let me try:

One death to a jihad attack is a tragedy. A million due to female genital mutilation is a statistic.

  5. I was just out for my daily walk and an observation occurred. Grown men so afraid of their own shadow that they will walk around an old man with a cane rather than walk by him. They will go out of their way to be at least ten feet from me, they will walk in traffic to avoid me. Now here is the observation. When the “government” tells them it is OK, then they will walk by me once again. Now just who is the brilliant person who is going to tell me just what is right or wrong with that? I have nothing but distain for my fellow citizens.

    1. they will walk around an old man with a cane rather than walk by him

You’re in the high-risk group, dumbass. They’re trying to protect you, you ungrateful old goat.

      1. That reply is beyond reproach. Compassion is not your strong suit, or even in your understanding of life.
        Beyond belief.

  6. Just like when the nafta negotiations were going on, one thing shines through in all of this Wuhan flu stuff: their dickhead is a LOT smarter than our dickhead.

  7. In the BC context, you have to wonder if “thoughtful process” is code for green agenda.

Basically we’re being asked to believe that an indefinite lockdown is the only sensible course of action (or inaction perhaps). We’ll have Sweden as a partial test of this assertion.

I am not too clear on why Spain has done so badly, did they just brush off the social distancing entirely, or is there some genetic factor in play? Italy I think I can understand more readily, in part due to the early mixing of Wuhan travellers into their worst hit northern region.

    1. Definitely, NDP Green goes forward. However, maybe, I can have a pleasant summer near the park in Vancouver, where all of those fake, horrid carnivals and street party events with terrible food trucks will not happen. All good with the shut down.

That assumes that I can get home somehow.

Sent from my no-golf -allowed 27degree patio in Palm Desert.

    2. Spain is doing poorly because their Communist government decided to dig up Franco.

They just kick started the King Tut curse in the 21st century.

      1. Franco was a Nationalist who fought the Republicans (Communists). Why would the Communists dig him up?

        1. Spain’s socialist government, in power since last June, made removing Franco’s remains one of its key promises.
It wants the Valley of the Fallen to become “a place of commemoration, remembrance and homage to the victims of the war”. It sees the presence of Franco’s remains there as an affront to a mature democracy.
Many descendants of Franco’s victims support the plan to bury his remains elsewhere. But the issue has largely split public opinion across Spain.
Last August, despite objections from his family and the right-wing People’s and Citizens parties, the government approved the exhumation. It wanted to find a more low-key burial place where the dictator’s followers would find it harder to pay tribute.

  8. Liberal death cheerleaders in the Guardian and other radical left outlets like the CBC.

100 million dead in the last century thanks to the left, so we know cheerleading gets results.

But it should be thrown in their faces so that everyone is at least fully aware of what they’re doing.

  9. Trump, who we’re told is backward and anti-science, is now wrong for *not* ignoring the scientific experts, and should have believed instead the intelligence experts, the community now under a criminal probe that tried so hard to screw him over the last four years. Got it.

  10. Once more Trump has destroyed DeMarxists best laid plans for seizing the power they covet above all else.
Trump says he’ll decide on return from virus. They call him a power tripper.
Trump says local authorities should decide. They lose it because they won’t be able to blame Trump for their gong shows.
Trump took measures prudently, despite Unsmart’s fallacious assertions, that Democrats all hated and opposed.
Now they try to argue he didn’t take the steps they had no clue about but surely would not have undertaken.
Just ask Pelosi and de Blasio; no need to self-solate or social distance, go to Chinatown and gather everywhere.
NYC had the worst outbreak in US, followed by a NJ governor who thinks taking actions based on science is above his pay grade.
Monday Morning QB fumblers who don’t how to keep the laces up, whose throws are actually punts, still intercepted by Trump.

  11. Mr. Trump did indeed downplay COVID-19 in his early public statements, but he was not the only one. People have been warning about a serious respiratory virus pandemic for years, but for some reason, policy people didn’t listen. The machinery of government in the US and Canada was left unprepared because of years of under-investment in public health. There is lots of blame to go around. SARS in 2004 should have been a wake-up call, but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears. So here we are, with lots of finger pointing, magical thinking, and nonsense.

Making big decisions with incomplete information is hard. That’s why people make models. But a model is not a crystal ball, any conclusions you might draw from it includes a level of uncertainty. When you get more evidence you make a new model and throw out the old. It doesn’t mean the old one was wrong exactly, only that it is obsolete. The problem is people look to models as if they are divine revelation. Reporters of all stripes do a horrible job communicating what a model actually says.

    And this will happen again.
