    4. Please, the situation is serious enough without bullshit conspiracy theories. The plane is not a troop transport. It appears to be a stretched version of a Challenger business jet or alternatively a long range version of the CRJ regional airliner. You can’t pack large number of troops with gear into it.

          Ok one more time for the cheap seats:
          The plane in question is a CRJ 200 series (count 13 windows which makes it 200 series not the longer stretched versions). This is the smallest class of jet airliners. Air Canada uses them for mid range low density flights for example. https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/fly/onboard/fleet.html#/ dreadful plane to travel on, with very limited passenger space in a standard high density 50 seat configuration.
          I doubt UN bozos like to fly packed like sardines, so this is probably a long range reduced seating configuration. Sort of a step between an airliner and a business jet. This is not a troop transport. If you see C-130s or larger with UN logo or airliners at least the size of of A320 get back to us. Until then it is a nothingbutger.

            They do a lot of plane repairs and dismantling up in North Bay.
            Could be the UN emblem was mistaken for HU which is Chinese ( that in itself is more worrisome )
            And we do have our own planes painted white with the UN logo on it that are used as charter or leased out.

  10. I’ve heard multiple people rip on the Tories and their handling of this convoy protest, but frankly, it’s been bang on. You don’t interrupt your enemy when they’re making mistakes. I know a lot of people who a week ago were calling for the protests to be ended by police who are now really disturbed by what they’re seeing from the Liberals, the police and the media. A lot of Canadians don’t like any sort of conservatives. We need those people to decide they detest Trudeau, and getting in the way of that is stupid.

      1. Yes you misunderstood. The Marshall Law needs to be ratified first by both houses. It should happen within seven seating days since declaration which is why Potato tries to delay it, and kept Parliament closed on Friday. After the Marshal Law is ratified, any twenty MPs can force a another vote on it. The act remains in effect until majority of MPs vote against it.

  35. Overlooked in all of the foofaraw of the past few days is that today is the 60th anniversary of Friendship 7, John Glenn’s Mercury mission.

    Not only was it the first time that an American went into orbit, but it was the first time that the Atlas booster (originally designed to be an intermediate range ballistic missile and known to be quite unreliable) was used with an astronaut. Less than three months earlier, a similar mission was attempted with astrochimp Enos, but it was ended after one orbit due to technical issues.

    Glenn, an experienced military test pilot, took all those potential hazards in stride and successfully completed his 3-orbit mission.

    There was one matter, however, which gave Mission Control some concern. A telemetry signal was received which indicated that the Mercury’s heat shield might have come loose. (The spacecraft was designed with a skirt under the heat shield that was designed to inflate during descent to soften the impact of the splashdown. The concern was that it might be damaged during re-entry.) The decision was made to leave the spacecraft’s retrorocket package in place instead of jettisoning it after the re-entry burn. Glenn remarked that the disintegration of the retropack was like flying through a fireball.

    Subsequent analysis attributed the signal to a faulty sensor.
