  1. I don’t think any of the whiners have actually asked a “red skin” how they feel. From what I’ve heard, they like the name.
The race card continues to be the primary distraction from the completely dreary apocalypse the Left has created.
Huge debt and unending unemployment! Look an NFL team is racist! REALLY racist!

  2. Yeah well, most folks are ignorant of the origin of the term “redskin”.
It seems the Beotuk, of Newfy, used red ochre to decorate themselves….a Beotuk practice specific to them, and the name stuck and was applied to all aboriginals…..
Objecting to the name cardinals is as silly as protesting the Baltimore Orioles….it’s a bird…..
    Whats next?………. protesting the Crusaders?…

  3. Lots of amateur teams named “crusaders”. It’s a matter of time before the radical Muslimsand their enablers go after them.

  4. I see the term GYPSY used and abused all the time, were/who can I sue for a few million, cuz I think I may be offended!!!
Obumbles ain’t got enough on his plate, so he sticks his “leading behind” into silly narratives, what a dimwit

  5. Coming from a long line of NY Dutch, I find the name NY Knickerbockers to be racially insensitive.

  6. I associate redskins with peanuts, which these days apparently is just as dangerous and offensive, particularly to grade school children!

  7. Being of Scottish heritage I object to the Boston Celtics name. And I really object to the incorrect way they pronounce it, i.e., “sell-tics”. It is correctly pronounced “Keltics”. There is no soft “c” in the Gaelic language.

  8. Look on the bright side: If Obama is talking about this, he’s not addressing important issues, where he could do some real damage.

  9. They killed the name of the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux. You do notice that it was a proud name. It wasn’t the UND Wagonburners or the UND Fetal Alcoholics. The apparently racist emblem was, of course, designed by a native artist. People are such fools.

  10. This phrase occurs repeatedly in journalism:
    “…many consider offensive…”
Really? Just how many is “many”? And while you’re at it, who are they? Sloppy, lying, crusading journalists on a slow news day. For once I just wish there was a complete lack of obstruction between my boot and their balls.

  11. For sure. here in Ontario we have a peanut enterprise known as Picard Peanuts.
All sorts of peanuts available. I went in one day and asked where their Redskins were.
No such thing anymore. They are now called Virginia peanuts. Still got the red skins on them though.

  12. As an intact male I’m particularly offended that Caster Alberta has a rec hockey team named the Raiders.

  13. sasquatch, I got news for you…they already have, and that i why they are trying to kill us all.
You know what they really want. They want to see the headlines saying Red Guard Team #1 from School #237 will be playing Red Army Team #2 from School #184.
Lance, be a proud Viking. At least they knew what they were doing and why.

  14. My ethnic roots are in the Netherlands.
Naturally, I feel it’s a racial hate crime the way Timmy’s brazenly sells Dutchies.
If they ever tried selling Pakis, a PC SWAT team would descend upon them.

  15. So Meto man 0bama you must be offended with the name of your home towns Chicago Black-hawks. They could rename it after you and call them the Chicago Oreos.

  16. I object to the use of the name “Maple Leafs” because it implies they fall down and drop dead in the Fall, oh wait…

  17. @scar. One of the most objectionable aspects of this is that the names associated with athletic teams create an empowering image. The should remind Natives (and others) of a once powerful people — indeed people who have left there mark on our culture. These human rights complaints destroy that image and reinforce the notion of Natives as outsiders. This is a lose lose proposition. I am pretty sure the Cleveland Indians are doomed — a double insult referencing Native people as Indians — and then co-opting the name.

  18. Washington Foreskins?
Given what’s occupying the Oval Orifice, I’d say that’s kind of presidential.

  19. I am Ukelish. Where are the Halifax Little Russians? Why no Calgary Limey Imperialist Scumbags?
It’s not fair. I want to be offended.

  20. I’m 1/164th Irish and I strenuously object to Notre Dame using the logo ” Fighting Irish.”
It is demeaning and insulting and the name should be dropped. It conjures up thoughts of
drunk Irishmen. Even though Irish newspapers print stories about the ND football team and
have no problem with the name it should be changed in the name of political correctness.
Notre Dame should have a logo similar to that of the one at Laguna Beach, California, High
School. They’re the “Artists.” That logo should be the model…it will keep the violence
in football down. By the way, Laguna Beach High went 0-8 last year.
I’d write more but I need another Guinness.
