Sorry, but I’ll forever have warm feelings for Wikileaks. Their shoving a rough hewn 4×4 into Scientology’s bunghole may have something to do with that. 🙂

As a matter of fact you are wrong. He did not embarrass only the US government – he made fun of all American citizens. Because your government is your government, nobody else. And you elect your government.

I think, overall, it is pretty bad for US diplomacy. I mean I think that US diplomacy will go blind. And going blind is pretty bad for the country and for the people of that country.
On the other hand there is nothing one would not expect from the diplomats, no big scandals, no assassinations, no bribes. Just usual characteristics of other leaders (which in itself is bad, because americans don’t know how other leaders characterize americans), and things like that.
on the third hand (with the bow to Niven) – I saw couple of articles about the fall of American empire, hmm…………….

Louise @10:27 – King Abdullah? Meh, I’m just hoping something Assange released really p*sses off Putin. That’d do the trick.
You may get your wish.. There are some messages about Smolensk tragedy to be published soon.

Have you read some European posts? Because if you did you would view wikileaks somewhat differently. And it is not the end of PC hypocrisy, Europeans will still need their hypocrisy because for them neither Iran nor North Korea are really very important. They have other troubles, among them illegal immigration and graying of the Europe.
Great minds may think alike but do you really think that they are your own?
Why would anyone want to kill Assange?
He is doing the world a favor by exposing the state’s incompetence, back-door deals, corruption, illegal behavior, and general lack of transparency.
They work for us, remember? We are their employers, we need to know how they perform, how else can we promote or fire them?
I would hope Assange could extract similar information from Russia and China too. Any helpers?
He tells people what they don’t want to hear in a way that is hard to refute. And he’s also extremely lefty. That’s enough.

John i Kanada,
Most probably Assange will not, because there are no idiots over there. And if they are they would get what US won’t do to their own traitors (remember- some post were secret) – they would get long, long, sentences and long term in prisons.
But talking about leaks from non-US countries, why don’t you leak Assange some documents from your country, instead of hoping and talking?
Or are you just full of the talk? After all, according to you, all countries need to be “open”.

In Russia and China, the betrayal of state secrets brings only one punishment: exececution.

Indeed. But then, I doubt our friend Johan has any access to such documents anyway.
He certainly seems to have no great idea about the workings of the world.
He must have a very comfortable armchair though!

Ooops! That should have been “execution”.
“Ooops! That should have been ‘execution’.”
Oops! That should have been “Oops!”.
That’s it. I’d better quit while I’m ahead…
Dennis Miller is either delusional, or he supports the lies. He states “in an effort to remain who we are, we let innocence get killed?” as a question to the logic of revealing the lies being fed to the unthinking majority. What innocence!!!?? That’s the whole point, that the America of today IS NOT the America of its founding. The only thing being killed is the lies and shams, there is NO innocence being attacked by Wikileaks. Threatening bilateral relationships and meddling with the justice system of other countries in order to prevent certain people from facing justice is innocence?
Dennis’ way of thinking is for those who have a ‘do no wrong’ opinion about America and keep their heads in the sand anytime facts that say differently come around. The man is intelligent, no doubt about that, but he clearly filters reality through a faith in his opinion of what America is, which is not based on fact.

Julian Assange, intends to expose bank documents next. Assange talked to Forbes on Monday, saying the site plans to release tens of thousands of internal documents from a major U.S. bank early next year
