Three Billion in cuts, $500M in the red, and $14B in infrastructure.
That is a lot more responsible than many assumed the BC Liberals were going to be heading into an election.

and of course the BC NDP whining on about how bad everything is and we are all going to hell in a hand basket etc.
Looking forward to the election in May. Time to pound on the NDP.
Lance, it will take a nose plug for me to vote for the BC Liberals this time around.
It is remarkable that Campbell did not scrap his utterly asinine carbon tax.
Never before have I so badly wanted a viable alternative choice in an election.
I would give anything to trade Gordon Cambell for Ed Stelmach, guys.
At least he’s got some semblance of sanity.
Right on TJ.
Gordo is increasingly a weathervane politician, unwilling or unable to say or do anything that would upset the folks listening to his current speech. I saw a perfect example of this in just the last three weeks. In a room full of mining people, he made a passionate speech about how he was going to do everything he could to keep this money and job generating industry at the forefront of the economy. Specifically he mentioned the proposed electrical transmission line along Highway 37, which would enhance the feasibility of a dozen exploration projects, as well as make the lives of the population there just a little easier. Come the budget, however – not even mentioned. I suspect he forgot that he has the seat for that area.
I used to really enjoy listening to “Money Talks” with Michael Campbell. It surprised me to find out that he and Gordon were brothers.
Campbell has become a real disappointment – the problem is Carol James and her band of amateur commies is 10 times worse. She has no real cabinet material in her caucus. The liberal party should have a coup and replace Campbell with Kevin Falcon – he still has his balls. Campbell seems to have run out of passion and ideas and is just hanging on so he can be premier during the Olympics.
Real Canuck:
You can gladly have Red Ed. I firmly believe if Morton had won the leadership, we would not be in the boat we are in in Alberta.
Being personally involved in the oil biz, I know first hand that countless number of companies are fed up and selling assets to move operations to Saskatchewan or NE B.C.
If Ed would swallow his stubborn pride and admit that in the current market, the hike on royalties should be postponed until favorable markets develop, admit he jumped the gun, and put the whole thing on the backburner.
I wish we had an alternative party to vote for that would seize the opportunity but there isn’t a chance in the world I would vote for the libs or the dippers.
/lived here for close to 30 years and am considering heading to SE Sask but I’m extremely reluctant to pull up roots.
Agreed with the comments above about Gordo . . . he has a bad habit of getting enmeshed in the policy option du jour and gets blinded as a result.
The good news is he has about a two year attention span and then gets some new religion.
But the Gordo alternative is far worse.
“Carol James, Premier of BC” makes me able to pinch the nostrils & vote BC Liberal. The BC NDP is just the sock puppet talking head for the BC Fed and the BC Fed is chock-a-block full of hoary old commies & socialists, Che wannbes and Obama envy infected latte champagne social engineers. The BC Fed is a very scary, very Left, very economically dangerous organization. They would kill our economy and our financial future.
It is all a matter of the available choices. I’m voting BC Liberal.
I believe they realize there is no alternative party to vote for so don’t care how unrealistic their budget projections are. Policing is just one example, how are the gangs going to be dealt with in the courts if they actually do hire enough police to deal with them. Policing the Olympic games will not be without a massive cost.
The same people must be are doing budget projections that did the original budget for the Olympics. WHAT A MESS. Oh well they are still a shoo-in in the next election, that’s all that counts.
Gordon Campbell is trying to swim straight up the middle and really, he’s succeeded at it fairly well. I’d like to see more cuts instead of spending and deficit but the reality of the situation politically somewhat ties his hands and dictates what he has to do.
It’s a pill I can swallow but it’s a bit hard to digest sometimes….until I think of the alternative and the severe damage they would inflict again.
I’m not voting NDP or Liberal. I will not abandon my conservative principles. I am voting for the most conservative MLA candidate in my riding period.
The current political situation in BC makes me think that the only practical solution is for the interior of BC to seccede from BC and join up with Alberta.
There is no way that I can vote for the BC Lieberals as they have very close links with the federal Lieberal party. At least some of the riding associations share office space between the provincial and federal Lieberal parties. As if this wasn’t enough, the assinine carbon tax of Campbell’s is something that doesn’t deserve any support.
For years BC has been saddled with crappy governments as the winning side has been a curious mish-mash of politicians who have been elected not because they are any good, but rather because voting for them seemed to be the only way to prevent the BC communist party from attaining power. There are completely opposing views about what the governement should be doing depending on whether one lives in Vancouver or the interior of BC.
In the next election I’ll be voting Libertarian or BC Marijuana party unless the Social Credit or similar party is ressurected before the next provincial election.
“I’m not voting NDP or Liberal. I will not abandon my conservative principles. I am voting for the most conservative MLA candidate in my riding period.
Posted by: john.”
Couldn’t agree more.
I note that nobody here has mentioned the B.C. Conservative Party.
They exist, and are running candidates. Too bad they are almost invisible.

Better Red than Dead.
Conservative Party? Where?

Well considering the spate of killings in the Lower Mainland, one wonders whether we are safer with the Royal Canadian Regiment, Lord Strathcona’s Horse or Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry or Royal Westminster Regiment, some of which are deployed with ISAF.
According to the the paper BC now rates as the gangland capital of Canada, according to Public Safety Minister Peter Van Loan.
Given the automatic weapons fire in residential areas, maybe its a toss up between the Lower Mainland and Afghanistan. Of course the ‘good guys’ in Afghanistan have the body armour over there.
And like Afghanistan (poppies) it is a turf war over control of the drug trade. Hey no wonder the Hell’s Angels chose Langley as the place for their reunion last year.
Could the next CF deployment rotation be the Fraser Valley? So far no IEDs in the Fraser Valley.
Guess like the Afghanis we should keep our heads down when entering the voting booth. Will they issue frag vests for voting day?
Maybe I should keep my musket handy on election day.

and splitting the Right vote just elects the NDP.
Be careful what you vote for . . . principals are one thing, pragmatic reality is another.
I wish these guys were better known.
If you are from BC, check it out:

For all of you that don’t like the gas tax but buy their natural gas through terasen check your bill. You are also paying the gas tax on the $11 that they charge you for the pleasure of billing you.
The budget has a 1/2b def this year and a 1/4b def next year but the debt is going from 34b to 47b. Now that’s what I call creative financing.
I think Gordo’s next job is selling bridges or maybe swamp land. Who said they’re not making any more water front?
The liberals biggest asset is the NDP.
“He said the funding shift sends a bad signal to public-sector workers,”
Gag. The signal it sends is there are tough times ahead, so we need to tighten our belts.
As the days go on I’m more and more convinced that the leftarded point of view is a result of poor parenting. The above example makes my point, cutting back spending is never a bad thing, their parents should have taught them that.
The only way any true conservative will vote for Gordo Marx, is if he admits that he can not control the weather. If the NDP win due to that, what is the big differance?
For those who refuse to consider voting BC Liberal – look at it this way. After the public reaction they got from the stupid carbon tax, there is little chance of any FURTHER expensive global warming measures being enacted anytime soon. Consider it the price we have to pay to avoid the disaster that would be imposed on us by the NDP.
The only thing worst than the BC Liberals is the BC NDP. As the Liberals have no real competition and therefore no incentive to change, this is what we get. Sad indeed.
Let’s also not forget how deeply Gordon has his tongue crazy-glued inside the BC Human Rights Commission’s smelly rectum.

It’s a disgrace that “the right” has left the building.
We are ruled by lunatics.
Randall@5.08. Not only is he not going to back away from it he’s going to increase it.
He’s lucky his only op is NDP
Alberta is predicting a 1bb plus deficit. Mr. Ed will be gone in 24 months.
Just think “fast ferries”. Do you want those clowns back? It appears that Delta will have a viable alternative this time in Vicki Huntington — an independant. I think there will be a lot of votes swing that way to make a statement.
“I used to really enjoy listening to “Money Talks” with Michael Campbell. It surprised me to find out that he and Gordon were brothers.”
The first time Gordon Campbell ran for Premier, BCTV interviewed his brother, Michael remarked, “the only thing we have in common is the same Mother”.
Much as many of us don’t like Campbell, the alternative is SO BAD, we have no choice. The B.C. NDP is probably the most radical branch of that Party in the Country, as someone said previously, old Communists and trade unionists.
I pine for the old Social Credit Party, and W.A.C. Bennett, the best Premier we ever had.

VOTE WILDROSE!!!, and try to get few more people to do the same.
Alberta gained another socialist party the day Ed was voted in.
This is what passes for sober and prudent governance in BC.
