    I did post a message there as am REALLY getting tired of this “Cry Wolf” nonsense as in WK’s suggestion you are a racist and Delisle is a wasteland…hell Pelly SK may not be a cultural centre but is still more civilzed then the world the Farbers and the Warrens are trying to invent.
    Steyn’s “The Nazis are coming” and the piece from MP Keith Martin must be revisted every morning to reconfirm my ever slipping grip on sanity and connection to planet Earth and not that of WK and RLucyW still fighting Giant Lizards – who incidentally ARE NOT amused.

    Why is the article on PWGS flagged with the keyword “ANTI-SEMITISM” at the bottom?
    Shouldn’t the keyword be “FREEDOM OF SPEECH” or something to that effect?
    Is PWGS trying to imply that the article is anti-semitic because it questions the CJC ??

  3. I love your French Police story. It is so fitting in so many circumstances to describe the actions of the Progressive Left.
    I like to use it’s analogy in describing Gun Control. The criminals engage in downtown shoot-em-ups and our Liberal masters have the Police chasing duck hunters.
    Look for our Left Coast Attorney General, the one who believes our Judges to be bang on in sentencing, to be beaming with enthusiasm as he announces yet another “gun amnesty” this June.
    I’ll bet the CJC encourages voting Liberal. Any threads on that?

  4. Thanks for posting a couple of great articles by Colby Cosh and Thomas Sowell. It brings back memories of sitting down with my new issue of the Western Standard.
    I’m very glad to see, in terms of Colby Cosh’s article, a defence of free speach and a refusal to accept the CJC’s proposals without question.
    This is the first time that I’ve actually been hopefull that the Canadian free speech restrictions which place us in the same league as third world dictatorships will be lifted. What the framers of this “anti hate” legislation don’t seem to realize is that the truth offends a lot of people. I’m sure Thomas Sowell’s educational proposals would offend many teachers and would probably lead to cries of racism if something along the lines he suggests was tried in Toronto.

    Without real Nazis and credible threats – they have to (as did McCarthy and Kohn) invent them.
    In Canada and the EU so many of these attacks are not from old enemies – they are reactions and inventions of their own creation. I think Steyn said it best “The Nazis are coming”.
    This is not in anyway to say anti-semitism does not exist (racism as per ‘Lucy’ shows its ugly head) – only to say lets move on folks to new holocausts and genocides.
    I would love to see a public response of the CJC, BB, RlucyW and the SWC to just 1 question as a defining moment:
    Did the Armenian genocide occur?
    Bernie, Len, Warren, Richard – can you answer that?

  14. Superb column by Cosh. Farber and Rudner’s bitterly un-ironic attack on the very social quality — free speech — that is the first line of defense against the biggest threat to Jews worldwide — fundamentalist Islam — was really aggravating to read. It’s like it was ghost-written by Warren Kinsella, or something. After pointedly — and a reasonable person would have to say, deliberately — eliding the group self-identity and background of the man who killed Pamela Waechter, they pruriently appropriated her death in order to bolster their argument in favour of a Liberal-legacy bureaucratic mechanism that could effectively enforce such elisions by other Canadian citizens as well on the grounds that it would be hate speech not to do so.
    It’s very odd. Are they maybe arguing from a subducted belief that any public acknowledgment and discussion of the anti-semitism in Islam might inflame Muslims, and therefore increase the threat to Jews? If so that’s an incredibly short sighted, “pay more later” plan guaranteed to collapse in on itself.
    Support for the HRCs comes from the most surprising quarters. Since the most hatefully and openly anti-semitic speech in Canada comes from a segment within Islam, why is there such a constant elision of this by the pro-HRCers? When a highly prominent self-described leader of Canadian Muslims states publicly that any Israel over the age of 18 is a legitimate target for murder, why is there no response at all from the Kinsellas and the Warmans?
    A Muslim who had a broadcast on Canada’s Vision TV had called for the global domination of Islam, and called Jews “parasites” who will soon be “exterminated”; Now, we all know that if such statements were made by some pathetic little pasty-faced tiny-fingered high-pants lodgepole-pine-nazi loser with his entourage of three, the Blarney Rumbles and the Warkin Kinmans and the Richard Warmans would be putting on their play-capes and riding to the rescue; yet when it’s a Muslim making such a statement, they erupt in comprehensive silence and choose to surround the proverbial “building next door” instead.
    Maybe I’ve missed something, but does anyone recall seeing a Warren Kinsella column, or musing, or public statement going after the “hate speech” coming from within the Muslim population? No, eh? Why the hell not? What’s the reason for that? If he is so concerned with the safety of Jews that he will ask us to close our eyes and imagine vile acts against them, why isn’t he taking on the biggest threat?
    It’d be a good question to ask him, if anyone — Adler? — ever gets the chance. There’s a whole lot of people who would just love to hear his detailed explanation for that. It’s not going happen, though, is it? He’s already providing us with the answer: He’s too darned busy going after the real threats — like Kate — instead.
    (BTW, isn’t Kinsella somehow connected to Farber and Rudner now? I mean, other than in the shared characteristics of prurience and gapped logic?)

  15. Warren Kinsella is using (abusing) the notion of anti-semitism in his personal and psychologically neurotic vendetta against Kate.
    That is, he is cherry-picking comments made by posters, taking them completely out of context, and posting them to his site – claiming they are proof that Kate is anti-semitic and a ‘holocaust denier’.
    For example, he’s using one comment that referred to Zundel’s questioning the Holocaust as proof that Kate ‘denies the holocaust’, while totally ignoring that the poster said that the actuality of the Holocaust could not be denied, while the specific number of lives lost could be debated.
    The CJC are operating the same way, using red herring arguments, out-of-context examples etc, to promote a conclusion that anti-semitisim is thriving in Canada and that the HRAct is the only means to control this.
    As Aaron points out, the conflation of Jewish with Israel means that any criticism of Israel’s political actions is immediately rejected as evidence of anti-semitism. Very handy tactic to ensure that one’s political actions are always beyond question and debate.
    The CJC and Bernie Farber have to realize that free speech is a fundamental right. Emotions of hatred or admiration cannot be controlled by censorship and repression.
    To move the actions of Israel beyond debate and question, and then, insist that no-one may criticize them because that is ‘anti-semitism’..and the HRPolice will move in – that sets up Canada as no longer a democracy because the individual no longer has any rights to reason and make his decisions.

That would be the end of the liberals once and for all. As desparate as they are, I don’t think they would touch him with a ten-foot pole. He is acting like a rabid dog.

  23. I was pissing my pants laughing, when Kinsella was saying the political parties will be using the blogs in the next election. Anyone links to his and are witness to his melt down, will be real impressed with the liberals.
    I am trying to link as many people to this blog as I can. When people realize there are real Canadians, just like them, that really care about Canada, we know who is going to win this election.

  24. Kinsella’s behaviour is really very strange. He’s using fallacious analogies as his prime tactic of defining someone as ‘no good’.
    Remember, how he tried to claim that because Ezra Levant (and others) were against Section 13.1 of the Human Rights Act, and so was a White Supremacist blog site, that this meant that all Those who Opposed Section 13.1 were ‘white supremacists’.
    Such a basic, fundamental error of logic, a false analogy – and yet, Warren Kinsella, a lawyer, fell into it.
    Now, he’s doing the same thing. False analogies. He’s cherry-picking statements made, not by Kate but by commenters on her blog, and removing them from their context – totally contradicting their original meaning – and posting them as ‘proof’ of their, and Kate’s values. In this case, as proof of ‘anti-semitism’. He’s moved into defamation.
    Then, he’s trying to link this false allegation to a ‘Conservative’ base, by showing us a picture of Kate and Carol Skelton.
    So, using Kinsella’s way of non-thought, if a dog and a cat are both animals, then, a dog is a cat.
    And:
    A statement removed from context and therefore contradicting its author’s meaning…is then linked to Kate because it’s on her Blog Site..and then..Kate is linked to a Conservative politician…so that Warren can attempt to claim:
    Conservatives are —???
    Warren; defamation is in the criminal code.

Hey, it’s commanded by allah in their trilogy and by Mohammad’s many actions (ie. the innocent Jewish Qurayza tribe, where he ordered and presided over the beheading of 900 men, raped the remaining women and then sold them into slavery) and his racist, murderous statements, including his last revelation:
    “The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him.” (Hadiths)
    That’s why they got along so well with the anti-Semetic neophyte, Hitler.
    It’s time certain Jewish organisations realized they are putting themselves in the same cage as the fox and locking the door. They had better figure out who their friends and allies are.
    Perhaps they might start with statistics. Currently, 50% of all anti-Semetic attacks in Europe are by Muslims. Given that Muslims represent less than 5% of the population, the statistics represent a very loud wake up call.
    And Kinsella, in standing with anti-Semetic racists like ‘Elmisery,’ is definitely not their friend.

  27. I think Ezra Levant said it best on his blog today when he thought that the only people who would object to ammending section 13 of the HRA were:
    “a lone Liberal lobbyist who hasn’t been in the party’s good graces for four years, and a fringe ethno-political special interest group, I don’t think anyone in the country would even consider such an amendment controversial.”
    When one clicks on the link to find out who the fringe ethno-political special interest group might be, one finds oneself on the CJC site.
    Ezra’s comment is very interesting since I’ve never known anyone who is Jewish who admits to supporting the CJC and most Jewish acquaintences of mine are a lot more concerned about islamofascism than a few skinheads. So how did the CJC become the unelected sole arbiter of what constitutes acceptable speech in this country?

  28. When I read the Farber/Rudner column I was overwhelmed by their missing the elephant in the room. So I wrote a letter to the editor of the National Post. My editorial board (friends) said that the argument was good, but the wording still doesn’t really hold together (even after three edits). So I decided to sleep on it and consider recasting my letter today.
    Imagine my delight upon reading Mr. Cosh’s most excellent column at breakfast this morning, realizing he has said everything I wanted to say, only much better. Still, I’ve this left-over letter; perhaps some of you will like my argument:
    Sir ~
    Mr. Farber and Mr. Rudner argue in their February 19 essay that Canada should maintain its prohibition of hateful speech and its Human Rights Commissions’ jurisdictions thereto. However, they do not address the actual problem at hand, namely, those who are abusing our human rights jurisprudence to prevent Canadians from commenting on hateful behaviour.
    Consider, for example, a hypothetical case of the Canadian Jewish Congress accurately pointing out that someone is a Jew hater, and that person then prosecuting the CJC under the jurisdiction of the HRCs, thus preventing the CJC from noting that person’s hatred because that person is offended by being called a Jew hater.
    That is the type of problem we have: some extremest Islamists who hate Canada’s equal rights and freedoms for women, for homosexuals, for artists, for publishers, for scientists, and for those who don’t subscribe to their theology in other ways, are using our HRCs to attempt to prevent Canadians from pointing out their hatred.
    Our HRCs have become a vehicle for the promotion of hatred, the antithesis of their intended purpose. As long as that remains the case, it is reasonable for Canadians to conclude that they should be shut down and their responsibility put back into the hands of the courts and their due process provisions.

    St. Louis, MO (KMOV) – The FBI is just beginning its investigation into threats made against a mosque in south St. Louis.
    The mosque has had no problems until threats popped up on the internet just this week.
    The American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Tuesday asked the FBI to investigate the apparent threats that were posted on an anti-Muslim internet site. (LGF)
    The apparent threats come following an arson attack on a Tennessee mosque allegedly by three members of the “Christian Identity” movement and a fire-bomb attack on a Minnesota Muslim business.
    The FBI declined to talk to News 4 about this case, but they did say they are taking these threats seriously and are investigating them as a possible hate crime.

    Ok. So, here we see a couple of things going on.
    CAIR – a purveyor of hate literature; an unindited co-conspirator of murder and hate financing; progeny of an ideology of explicit and pornographic hate; a lying, master spinner of 1350 years of hate, destruction and genocide; the prideful and lying inheritor of an historical account of murderous attrocities – 270 million butchered; worshippers of a hateful god and mass-murdering, rapist, brigand, pedophile prophet; a pit of hissing vipers, which just lost it’s tax exempt status – is calling others haters.
    Hmmm. What’s wrong with this picture?
    And then there’s the Jew hating, white supremacist ‘Christian Identity Movement’ attacking a Mosque and a Muslim owned business.
    What a mixup.
    Is something amiss in dar al Harb?
    Perhaps the Muslims got it right:
    Quran 5:51 O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends: They are but friends to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.
    I think we can add to the list of friends: Hindus, Buddhists, Athiests, etc., etc., etc.
    It’s time everybody knew the truth about Islam. Especially the Muslims.

  31. Thanks, Irwin, but my effort pales compared to Mr. Cosh’s. Due disclaimer, I am an old fan of Mr. Cosh’s work. Yet, that aside, why not fire up a colourtini and just meditate on the last sentence of Mr. Cosh’s essay:
    “An expert on hatred ought to have figured out that genocide, far from being prevented by governments and their instruments of control and censorship, almost inevitably takes place under their concealing shadow.”

  32. Liberal Jews and their liberal friends are stuck in the past, imagining Nazis and Mel Gibson type Christians are out to get them (remember Abe Foxman’s AntiDefamation League was upset about The Passion, imagining an Easter pogrom).
    These liberal Jews just can’t wrap their minds around the fact that Islam hates them for purely ideological/Koranic reasons that have nothing to do with nationalism or the the nationalistic aspirations of “ancient Palestinians”.
    I don’t know why the CJC is listened to. I don’t know why the CBC can only find Jews who think “it’s the occupation”, I don’t know why the CBC interviews (Jewish) Women against the Occupation, or Israeli members of Peace Now.
    Note to the CJC: nazis are not the problem.

    The fact is that they are not and never were.
    The HOW is that lazy newsroom hacks have passed out their business cards and the CJC has the phone number/fax number/ cell phone and e-mail for each and every newsdesk chair warmer in the country and visa versa.
    Anytime one of these hacks needs a comment to support a story theme they call and get exactly what they want and so it goes for the CJC when they want to brandish their BS.
    I suspect that the authors Farber and Rudner likely would have had little notice given to their myopic screed if Cosh had not taken notice and taken them to task in his own way.
    I suppose though that it’s a good thing he did as otherwise this CJC garbage would likely be filed away for reference by the likes of Kinsella and pulled out some time in the future to be presented as factual proof for his asinine arguments.
