Which party will form the government after the 2007 Saskatchewan election?
The object of these markets are to predict results … hopefully better than the pollsters. The site that hosts these markets is not a cash site – you get $5000 play dollars. It’s free to set up and to trade […]
This is not a poll – it doesn’t matter what you would do … your trying to guess what the voters will do. These things work best if there is a lot and diverse participation.
You know it’s election related when there’s free, worthless money on offer!
Morning Market Update

$13.08 a share for the Liberal Party? Federal or provincial?
BWA-HAA-HAA.
Cool!
Think carefully!! This could be the most important moment in Canuck history. Imagine if “We the People” could operate an administration like the Gov of Sask based on the principles of a corporate model, list your gov on the Calgary (we’re trying to eliminate eastern domination here folks,) stock exchange, and sell shares. Good leader, sound ideas, shares go up. Bad leader, shaky admistration, shares go down, so do our (common citizens) pension plans and benifits. (Lots of Crude oil would help maintain stable shares!)
What happens to the CEO when shares drop too fast? Out the door buddy, along with his or her slack ass buddies. (Isn’t that what happnes at Ford and Exxon??) If my calculations are correct, Calvert would have lasted about a year.
Has this ever been tried? Dunno, but it’s worth a try! Zit not??
This market means no more than an online poll. There is not real money involved.
I just spent an interesting 20 minutes looking at the 2003 poll results.
The urban rural divide is really evident, and wow do those teachers, social workers and government employees ever make a difference.
Around the cities the NDP have an overwhelming advantage as the only have to get out 3-4000 votes to be successful, how difficult is that when you have access through the unions? Meanwhile rural votes (who I am interpreting as real workers expanding the economy) tend to vote Sask party.
And yet the fed conservatives have had good success, this really highlights how the provincial NDP has been successful in intimidating the electorate to believe that our sacred healthcare marxist “system” is vulnerable to depletion by any attempts to reform it.

I don’t know of anyone that would disagree that real pain or gain is the ideal situation. The admin panel for the site only shows active traders, so even a token prize is not possible (someone can sell all/some? of the shares in a market and the gain/loss info is lost to me).
Having said that, I think the more people and diversity that participate, the more accurate the results. Even with the small number of traders now, I can see “market type” movement (sell high, buy low).
I also testing to see what type of participation I can get before I go through the effort of installing a package with more functionality on my own server … figured if SDA can’t get the market users, no one can.
BTW: I will have Grey Cup markets up shortly. I’m making a killing (virtual) on Boston fans in the World Series market.
Many of the Dipper- union /teacher types are physical as well as mental greyheads and most of them can read. They heard the line (in the throne speech) about the provinces getting more responsibility for spending money. They are looking for a pension, they know the Dipper record on fiscal responsibility. The old Bolsheviks will be voting for Brad Wall. You can always trust a Dipper to look out first and foremost for themselves!
