24 Hours (Vancouver);
The president of the Liberal Party of Canada’s B.C. branch was under subpoena for over three months to testify in the upcoming breach of trust trial of former provincial government aides David Basi and Bob Virk before resigning his position in January.
Lobbyist Jamie Elmhirst quit as president Jan. 15 but was subpoenaed by police Oct. 4, 2006 to testify. His letter of resignation to the party makes no mention of the subpoena, instead stating he was leaving to concentrate on his business and upcoming wedding.
Elmhirst, a former aide to B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell and former federal Liberal cabinet minister David Anderson, was a business partner of Erik Bornmann and Brian Kieran in the now-defunct Victoria lobby firm Pilothouse Public Affairs.
Both Bornmann and Kieran will testify as crown witnesses against Basi, Virk and B.C. Liberal government communications aide Aneal Basi in the trial starting April 2.
On Dec. 28, 2003, the same day police searched the B.C. Legislature and other locations, a search warrant was executed on Pilothouse offices.
The charges allege that David Basi and Virk were bribed to provide confidential information on the $1-billion privatization of BC Rail to Bornmann, who was a lobbyist for OmniTRAX, one of the bidders. Aneal Basi is accused of money laundering.
Just another bad week to have won the Liberal leadership.

The Liberal Twilight zone a parallel universe where truer Canadian values of honesty, hard work and fairness are translated into Lying Cheating and Stealing
Are all liberals crooks deep down?
Am I serious?
YES!
Gee, with all these endorsements from dubious sources the phrase “damned with faint praise” comes to mind.
Gag unto me with a spoon.

Led Zepplin Channels the Liberal’s future way back in 1969.
Lying cheating hurting,
That’s all you seem to do.
Messing around with every guy in town,
Putting me down for thinking of someone new.
Always the same playing your game,
Drive me insane trouble’s gonna come to you.
One of these days and it won’t be long,
You’ll look for me but baby I’ll be gone.
and this one , a blues number from young Alberta to Grand Dame Quebec. izzy money.
Every day I work so hard, bringing home my hard earned pay
Try to love you baby, but you push me away
Don’t know where you’re going – only know just where you’ve been
Sweet little baby, I want you again
Been dazed and confused for so long it’s not true
Wanted a woman – never bargained for you
Take it easy, baby – let them say what they will
Will tongues wag so much when I send you the bill
The B.C. Liberals are one in the same as the federal Lie-berals. Campbell and his cronies privatized(?) B.C. Ferries, but the the people of the province are still the sole shareholder and now can’t look at the books. Sounds a lot like the LPoC with federal crown corps doesn’t it?
Remember Earnscliffe? Opened offices in Vancouver and Victoria.
What about former PMPM supporters Mark Marrison and Christie Clark? She wanted to be mayor of Vancouver ,but it didn’t quite work out for the Lie-beral machine, did it?
Strange that these incidences haven’t shown up in the media.
Its in the eyes, would you trust this man? Also as far as tunes go I think the next Liberal theme song should be “And another one bites the dust!”
“Stephane Dion is the man who can bring everyone in the party together…His strong environmental platform [I didn’t Kyoto was “a platform”; I thought he was a dog], his honesty and his strong, proven track record in government make him the ideal choice for Liberals in British Columbia…”
Yeah, right.
And I’m the sultry and curvaceous babe in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I meant to say above: “I didn’t KNOW that Kyoto was “a platform”…
Dante, I wonder where the media are? Who is paying CBC to not report on these very important criminal investigations? Hummm?
Should that not read “Party Of Convicts”
We should have a tax revolt and refuse to remit til the last liberano is swinging.
“Strange that these incidences haven’t shown up in the media.”

You can thank CanWest Global (perhaps a more appropriate name would be Canned Waste Goebbels), who control a majority of the print, radio and TV outlets in BC. Their bias for all things Liberal is pathetic.
When Gordon Campbell got caught for drunk driving in Hawaii, they basically buried the story. They didn’t even make anything of the fact he was accompanied by a female other than his wife. On the other hand, Glen Clark MIGHT have gotten a deal on a deck, and it’s front page news for weeks.
The legislature raids happened a couple of years ago and it’s rarely mentioned. I guess they hope that we forget about it.
Baird got a good shot at Dion today in QP when he said “get a new dog, name it Kyoto and call it a day”. That about sums up the environmental accomplishments of the new Saviour of the Libranos.
he should know better than to bring up dogs in the house.
what was Paris Stronach’s reaction?
Dion is such a noob. A Liberal staff is supposed to get elected first, THEN start committing crimes.
We don’t know a tenth of the fraud, from years of LPC’s deconstruction of Canada.
This Country is only a bank to them in which they can submerge into at will. With them having all the keys to the cash register if not the populaces wallets.
Patriotism to a lefty means subverting every institution we have. While mocking Christians, or any sincere, plainspoken, hard working, individuals, or anyone not a criminal. Their malice is reserved for people who make up an honest society.
They wallow in their own immorality, while plotting to collectivize us all into a second child hood. Than stealing the lions share of wealth with bogus programs. Aimed at invented social industries, injustices, calamity’s, ideologies, that in the end produce nothing but money for an elite. On the backs of working individuals who can scarce afford it.
French Citizen Dion exemplifies this stream of vice with little thought. As well as the company he keeps. With a record of no achievements but being a good water boy & keeping his yap shut.
By the way they advertise this is a new team. Makes me ill. Their all the same old money grubbers in socialist drag , looking for the free handout . With a power junkies love of dictatorship. Where are the new faces? They all look like Cretiens boys & girls to me?
Mike(mountain pinebeetle infestation)Harcourt, then Glen(down to the last roll of toilet paper)Clark, bail out the pulp mill Miller and Morph into a Lie-beral Dosajhn, all stellar talents of the mental disorder of leftism. Heh!
Why would anyone in BC, especially Vancouver, vote for dion. They were outraged over Emmerson and Fourtier. So, won’t they be outraged that chretain appointed an unelected dion to his cabinet, months before an election. If they wouldn’t vote for emmerson, is it not hypocrital of them to vote liberal. Were there not comments all over the blogs and papers, demonstrations etc. by these voters saying they would never vote for a party that pulled such dirty tricks.
And now on ctv..looking like he’s just come from his daily rectal exam,is John Bennett! Another Lib brain-dead fool. Why do all these lib.mouthpieces look so “anal”,as if a smile would crack their face..I just cannot take much more of this, and now Suzuki off on his kyotopalooza brainwashing tour…gee, can we hope it’s an annual event???
“When Gordon Campbell got caught for drunk driving in Hawaii, they basically buried the story. They didn’t even make anything of the fact he was accompanied by a female other than his wife. On the other hand, Glen Clark MIGHT have gotten a deal on a deck, and it’s front page news for weeks
Convenient memory, Lavrenti. There was never any mention of Campbell being accompanied by a woman, maybe you’re thinking of Ted Kennedy. CTV interviewed a woman who said she’d noticed Campbell, and thought him attractive, but had no involvement with him.
Glenn Clark outright lied about his relationship with Dmitri Pilarinos, “his kids used to play with my kids, I never really knew him”. Bullshit!
Unfortunately, there were public photos, taken by the Press, showing Clark and Pilarinos together at his summer cottage here in the Okanagan.
The media hardly buried the story of Campbell’s fuckup, it was front and centre for about two weeks, in every paper, on every TV and radio station.
Dion is a thin skinned, academic, social lab rat, who has no business trying to run a country. This is a man who has no idea that a country is simply the leading business in the nation.
It is better to have someone who is tough, smart and understands business. Stephen Harper is an economist and is smart and tough.
What’s the problem deciding who to vote for?
Even that philanderer, Bill Clinton at one point in his wasted career finally came to realize that fact when he stated … “It’s the economy stupid!”
So, may I quote him to that little Quebec weasal … It’s the economy stupid. Kyoto is an economy buster.
We can go broke fixing pretending to clean up the global envionment then we will only have breath the growing polution from China, India, Russia and a myriad of other “developing” polluters.
We all live withing the same biosphere. Canada spews about 2% of that mostly because we spend seven months a year in a deep freeze. We need to burn more energy than most of the rest of the world. That’s the way it is when we have poplulations living in cold environs.
If you think we have homelessness, cime and a vibrant underground economy now, just wait until the liberals eventually get back in power. It will be every man for himself. After they stuff their off shore bank accounts with our money, they give the rest to the UN or some other phony do good delusional organization headed up by our old pal Maurice Strong.
It’s easy to pontificate about how noble we Canadians should be in overcoming the pollution and waste of a 6 billion strong world population, but it will be the equivalent of a fart in a windstorm.
Has anyone saved a copy of this webpage, before it disappears down the Liberals’ Memory Hole ?(as did the LPC webpage of the endorsement of Dion by union leader/arrested international wholesale cocaine smuggler Perley Holmes)
HA HA HA!
We didn’t make this stuff up. We’re not allowed to!
Strange, dante’s right, how come we don’t hear about this in the msm??
BTW, I just searched the CBC News website and there still isn’t a hint of either case. Error 404, like CBC’s moral code.
What would a B.C. government do if it did not have at least one subpeona issued? CONSERVATIVE!
oh, *that’s* what they call ‘beady eyes’.
“Led Zepplin Channels the Liberal’s future way back in 1969.”
hearing the first Zeppelin album for the first time was for me a turning point.
wont have to put up with the pablum from the beatles anymore.
kids born well after the pic of hindenburg going down in flames was released on an album cover still play the stuff. as do the radio stations.
I got a feeling Jimmy Page’s future is a whole lot brighter and longer time line than borat dion’s.
This environment concern on everyones minds as the msm tells us is getting a little sickening! What’s wrong with the environment, gets cold in winter warm in summer, are these moronic suziki automatons so dull as to believe we have ruined this whole big earth, that is mostly oceans where no one lives or drives suvs. When one volcano can spew more into the atmosphere in two weeks than man can in 5 years, and what about those nasty lightning strikes that start those huge forest fires, don;t they spew a little nastiness into the atmosphere, oh but that is natural smoke unless of course a nasty smoker starts the fire with his nasty cigs. then that is bad smoke. In short get a grip people, stop polluting by putting an end to flushing your untreated shit into the ocean in Victoria/Halifax/ cruise ships etc. Oh but suzuki lives in Victoria dosn’t he, OK to spew his untreated shit all over the airwaves and the world and the Pacific I guess.
dmorris:
Don’t get me wrong…I’m not defending Clark. I always thought he was a weasel. In any case, he was found not guilty on breach of trust charges. But you can’t tell me that the media wasn’t gunning for him. They were waiting with their cameras when the police came to execute a search warrant.
Contrast that with Campbell. His coverage was quite restrained, especially when you consider the potential mayhem he could have caused if he ran into another car. And I’m 99% sure that Campbell was in the company of a female at the time he got stopped. It was mentioned once or twice very early on, and he certainly wasn’t with his wife because she returned home a couple of days earlier. Think of the scandal the media could have made of that. But no, they just gave him an easy ride, just like they have with virtually everything else the BC Liberals have pulled. CanWest might as well be the Ministry of Propaganda for the BC Liberals.
Iberia, if your going to throw stuff like that out there, i think it would behoove you to provide some proof.
I live in B.C. and i clearly remember the incident. Im pretty much of a news junkie and i dont miss much, i do not recall any suggestion that there was a woman in the picture.
The Media were all over this story until Campbell returned, owned up to his problem, offered apologies to the citizens of B.C.
It kind of took the wind out of the sails of the media
lberia,
Fast ferries. And just in case you don’t remember fast ferries. Over $300M …fast ferries. It actually happened $300M … nothing to show for it. Fast ferries. Another great NDP scam … claimed they were to stupid to commit fraud … NDP voters believed them.
Actually…it wasn’t $300 million…the fast ferries cost $426 million…and, they went at auction for $18 million (less the $6 million commissions for the auctioneers), that meant that the taxpayers of BC got a grand total of $12M….
But actually,,,that’s chump change compared to what I have calculated Glen Clark’s negative contribution to BC has been….by my calculations, he was personally responsible for at least $3 billion in losses…and that doesn’t include the catastrophic losses caused by the pine beetle infestation, which he could have stopped…if he had the guts to actually do something about it…

I could be wrong, but I do recall a mention of a woman passenger being with him when he was arrested. It would be nice to get access to the arrest warrant and see what it says. In any case, it seems that if you’re a Liberal, all it takes is a few crocodile tears on TV and you’re forgiven.
ural:
Glen Clark was an idiot. No argument from me. My point is that Campbell is getting an easy ride from the media. Compared to the thievery being currently perpetrated by Campbell (and ignored by he media), Clark was an amateur.
It would be interesting to do a study of “the theology” of these Doom and Gloom nutcases, first and foremost amongst them Suzuki and company.
I suspect that they have no faith in the God of our forefathers and mothers. Their God is humankind and “science,” such as they have constructed it.
As Bartinsky and others have pointed out, Nature itself levels far more body blows to the quality of our air than billions of the world’s people.
THEN, there are the resource-guzzlers par excellence of North America’s and Europe’s and the Middle East’s elites, one of whom is our intrepid crusader himself: Dr. Sukooki. I am heartily tired of these first-class (as in, they SIT in first class) jet setters who live high off the hog, guzzling far more of the earth’s resources than most of us do, lecturing and hectoring the rest of us to “care for the planet.”
David Suzuki: YOU CARE FOR THE PLANET! And one way to do that is to not take the Comrade Sukooki’s Canadian Caravan across the country.
Just stay home. OK?
Oh yeah, and Mr. Suzuki: Stop breathing and farting. That would be a tremendous help.

DION UNINSPIRING
Harper’s pollsters have no doubt been telling the PM what our own Sun surveys have been showing — namely, Canadians don’t yet know a lot about Dion’s leadership abilities, but what they have seen doesn’t exactly inspire.
As Sun Media reported last week, a national poll by Leger Marketing this month showed voters overwhelmingly think Harper makes a better prime minister than would Dion by a margin of 34% to only 19% for the Liberal leader.
Leger reported Harper leads Dion in every region of the country, except Quebec, where the two are tied with Gilles Duceppe of the Bloc Quebecois. In Alberta, the chief Grit who would be PM is barely on the public’s radar.
The mere fact Dion apparently made so little of a lasting impression on Canadians outside Quebec, even after almost a decade in cabinet, suggests the urgent task of defining himself to voters as a strong leader will not come easily.
In the meantime, Harper’s strategists apparently believe they can kill two political issues with one set of attack ads, portraying the Liberals as eco-delinquents, and Dion as an ineffective leader who got nothing done as environment minister.
Like everyone, Dion only gets one chance to make a first impression with voters, and the Conservatives seem only too happy to introduce Dr. Did Little. …-

a couple of points
1. would love to see what the “carbon footprint” of mr global cooling’s(wait, that is warming now, no wait, climate change, wait…whatever)dog and pony propaganda tour…is this happening with taxpayer’s money?
2. leftard moonbats are the gratest environmental hypocrites of them all….they all sit around waiting for the gov’t to hold their hand on environmental initiatives
At the end of the day, the free market will solve the so called “environmental problems” that we have as a society.
example – I own some rental properties…librano energy program was pure garbage, smoke test this, heat sensor that…pure garbage….I went and invested 15K in new furnaces, water heaters, etc….payback in 2 more years….I did not need a librano/moonbat/dipper touchy feely gov’t program,
just the financial incentive
Dion is going to have to hire a webmaster full time to pull down all those spiffy endorsements as the “convictions” of the LPC become a matter of judicial record rather than a faint odor.
Carry on Celine….I’m sure your heart will go on.

Don’t let lavrenti rewrite the story on BC politics. The BC Liberal party is a coalition of conservative and liberals. Mostly anti-NDP. The left media (basically all of it) has been gunning for Campbell from the beginning while giving the NDP a free ride.
Notice that former deputy premier Christy Clark , Mark Marrissens wife, was pretty much pushed out.
The same thieving Campbell who let BC’ers rebuild our shattered economy that the NDP, whom Ujall briefly led, destroyed. A good rule of thumb is if lavrenti beria opposes, they must be doing something right.

…mere TIPS of ICEBERGS….
Sure enough, the BC NDP caused the Asian economic recession of the mid 90’s and the BC Liberals are responsible for high commodity prices and low interest rates. Oh, and the MSM supports the NDP.
HA HA HA!! And I’m rewriting history?! It’s time for your meds, enough…or perhaps you could show me how provincial governments affect the world economy or give an example of any MSM in this country that actually support the NDP.
Tips of Icebergs, indeed.
So Perley Holmes, Iron workers union leader with 4.3 Million$ worth of cocain in two backpacks at BC / US border. . . eh?
Same Perley guy whose Dion endorsment letter was removed from Liberal website?
You don*t suppose the good-hearted Perley was just trying to compound 4.3 Million$ of union pension funds for the union boy*s old age benefit, do you?
Guess he should have used Paul Martin lines for more secure shipping. Slow but sure. = TG
lavrenti,
What happened to the BC economy during the boom years of the ’90s? It tanked during a worldwide economic period of prosperity. Funny how a provincial government could increase income taxes, drive away businesses with red tape, regulation and increase taxes and manage to scare off investors. Check the net outflow of residents to other provinces because of high unemployment. Check the massive payoffs to the NDP union buddies. Yeah, provincial governments make no impact on the economy.
Welcome to BC politics, dufus. The BC NDP get plenty of support from the MSM. There are two parties of concern; The BC Liberals who are NOT Canada Liberals and the NDP. Where do you think the MSM positions the BC Liberal party? Center or right wing? Since default is against the right wing, that leaves the NDP as the MSM choice.
enough
Bob Rae failed miserably during his recession and made it worse. The BC NDP created a recession during times of worldwide economic prosperity.
Bob Rae blamed it on a recession and so did the BC NDP. Funny how they never take responsibility for their failed economic policies.

enough:
Still haven’t taken your meds, I see. I recall the economy doing quite well in BC until about the mid 90’s. I remember the Alberta welfare bums being put on buses and being sent back home…at a time when you say things were being so mismanaged in BC.
I used to think that BC Liberals were recycled Socreds, but recent events have proven this wrong. Or is your memory so selective that you can’t even recall what this thread is about?
And you need to pay closer attention to the media. There is NO left wing MSM in this country. They either support the Liberals (which admittedly is most of the MSM) or the Conservatives. None of them support socialism (the real kind, not the all encompassing smear used by the right against anyone that disagrees with them) and none of them support organized labour. Even the so-called left wing CBC showed us what it thinks of organized labour when it locked out it’s employees a couple of years ago. It’s all about Libs vs. Cons, not left vs. right.
