Last year I had a tour of The Masjid Al Hidayah Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre in Port Coquitlam. It’s a beautiful building and the Mufti was very pleased to say that almost half of the construction costs were raised locally.
I was wondering where the rest of the funds had come from. But that was probably answered when we entered the classroom where the children were getting an Arabic lesson.
Their teacher was a Saudi man dressed in dishdasha and red gutra, head covering. He was less than thrilled that his class was on the tour itinerary.
I wonder what else he was putting into the minds of the children?
