Faster, Woker, Broker

When you turn on the TV to escape the day to day grind only to see close ups of masks and a finger wagging  lecture you turn it off again.

According to Nielsen, the opening ceremony in Tokyo drew 16.7 million viewers on NBC on July 23, accounting for both the live morning broadcast and the replay in prime time — the smallest audience for an opening ceremony in the past 33 years. It was down from 26.5 million who watched the event in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and 40.7 million people who watched London’s ceremony.

Through the first four nights of the Games, according to Sportico, viewership of NBCUniversal’s Olympics coverage, across its networks, is down 43 percent compared with Rio de Janeiro, to 17.5 million viewers from 30.7 million. Primetime coverage on the NBC is down nearly 50 percent.

  1. I assume advertising charges will be adjusted for lack of audience. This has to be a financial trainwreck for someone, likely the IOC. I think they’re going to be in for Olympic class buttloving. With no money for corruption, what will they ever do?

  2. So what’s it all mean in the big scheme of things? Advertiser panic – the very lifeblood of of existence for broadcasters… the kind of stuff that has board members with sweaty foreheads meeting at night reading the entrails on how it all went wrong and how best spin to spin it for their shareholders. Of course the big institutional shareholders of Comcast (owners of NBCU) are Blackrock and Vanguard,so I’m sure they’ll be coming out of this ok.
Here’s to hoping NBCU takes a huge bath on this.
The good news? They bought the broadcast rights for the Olympics up to 2032.

  3. LOL! No fan is in the stands”

    Who Cares!

I am not watching because I will not watch men compete in women sports and the woke athletes are a total turn off. This is the first Olympics in over 40 years that I refuse to watch one minute of the games. This coming from a guy that schedule his vacation time to not miss one minute of the games.

The left has destroyed sports and entertainment.

  4. I’ll watch the highlights of the women’s weightlifting if any of the “women” manage to rupture a testicle on Monday. Other than that I’m not interested.

  5. NBC
THE MOST WATCHED NEWS IN THE WORLD.

    BAHAHAHA !

    CAN’T CATCH MY BREATH,
    GET MY BREATH,
    MY BREATH… UGH.

  6. Frack the Oil-lumpics. Waste of time. Overgrown adolescents playing games and indulging in quasi-sexual fantasies of being on top. The world would be a better place without this quadrennial waste of oxygen.

    1. +1

Haven’t had a set in long time.

When I watch it now it is like some alternate place. And loud.

  7. I kept waiting for the LBGTQIA+ coverage, but all that was offered was the typical cisgender anti-enlightened perspective.

With the many hundreds of LBGTQIA+ viewers dependent on having equal access like that of the hetero-normative breeder minority, this kind of excluding the opressed minority cannot be allowed to go unchallenged.

The vast hordes of pro-alternative LBGTQIA+ need to rally and let their opinions be known to the hateful breeders and pro-hetero’s that control the media.

  8. There is some to-do over allegations that one of the US fencing team may have harassed a woman.

His teammates are wearing pink masks because that’s useful in getting to the bottom of things.

  9. The next circus will cost a lot less. The networks will not be giving the IOC their cash if there is no audience.

Just another nail in the network tv coffin. Nobody’s watching.

  10. You are right about television. We are all about to die from the pandemic or accused of racism and genocide or destroying the planet. All the talking heads nod and parrot each other on the dire state of our nation. What a miserable & unhappy group are the woke folks. And leading the pack is our woeful Prime Minister, the wokest of them all. The only thing to cheer him is flinging tax money about with joyful abandon. Why would anybody want to listen to that. I too turn it off and tune it out.

    1. The Mainstream media has also made it perfectly clear that your opinions will be canceled or reported to some other government agencies if they are not the same as their warped narrative.

      My biggest worry now…
Where is the opposition leader or even Premier Ford alarmed that our steel manufacturing no longer creates steel with the closure of the smelters.
Basic industry and our current society needs this product for BASIC survival.
To keep warm, we need to manufacturer heat and a viable product to hold it.
Trudeau BRIBED these companies to close that vital product that is basic for industrial products we currently have in use.

  11. Wait a second. Have I got this right? What you’re saying is that the Olympics are on right now?

  12. I finally ended Netflix this week. Since ‘Cuties’, I been watching every new thing on the platform, and always came away wondering “what am I paying for? what was the plot? why didn’t I care about a single character?”

I am not a Costco member.
    I have deleted Twitter.
    I have deleted Amazon.
    I have deleted Netflix.
Was never a Facebook member, or any of the various heads of that hydra.

If the lie triumphs, it will not be through me. I refuse to accept or even use, the language of the pretext. There shall be no quarter from me.

    1. I believe it is close to 10 years now since I last had either cable, or satellite. Thinking back on it, cutting the cord was my first step out of slavery.

    2. “Hydra”

An excellent characterization of the internet socialist/fascist censors.

      Will use it in future.

    3. Hmmm.

Netflix was shitcanned a while ago. I have better use for my 10/mo.
Twitter Banned me 4 yrs ago- I could care less.
I still use Amazon – there are items one simply cannot find elsewhere…and I like to read for free. Prime is A-OK for me.
Still a member of Costco: Diesel fuel is 4 cents lower than anywhere as is their Propane…rarely shop inside and only once in a while will I hit their Liquor store.

Fascist Book bans me within a week of getting back online…LOL. 30 days at a time now – I could care less. (good thing is I can still use messenger and marketplace…imagine that.??..ssssshhhhh).

I Much prefer to use MeWe and Telegram for social media.

  13. Watching some events and no finger wagging or social garbage yet.
    Don’t believe everything you read.
