  1. Can anyone explain to me why the Kaspersky anti-virus protection on my computer keeps throwing up pop ups warning me about “parental control” protection when I’m trying to access conservative blogs? It’s weird. Very weird. I don’t have kids and I haven’t set any parental controls protection … Is Hal inhabiting my computer?
Then there’s the total weirdness of what happened in Parliament today, censuring Maclean’s Magazine for their cover story stating that Quebec is the most corrupt province in Canada (with which I tend to agree):
    http://www2.macleans.ca/2010/09/29/house-of-commons-censures-macleans/
Are we living in the Soviet Republic of Kanada now? This is an appalling development, “victim” appeasement run completely amok.
Is there no end to this minority rights jack boots nightmare?

  2. Canada’s parliamentarians demonstrate their own corruption – anything to kowtow to the Quebec voter.

  3. I haven’t read too closely of the Macleans article.
If they’ve already published the proof of “the most corrupt” … or they have more proof showing this to be true, I’d think the right thing for them to do would be to publish a follow up, perhaps they could print something like, “We’re sorry you’re the most corrupt province in Canada”. But backing down would be feeding the monster.
    oh, here’s my tip:

  4. SDA isn’t a person or a collective organization that collectively decides what worldview to hold, beagle. You’ve been making that mistake repeatedly in the last few days. Your question – tonight, it’s “so, SDA, which party line…” etc is the equivalent of saying “so, Honda drivers, what’s your opinion on…”
Batb: wrt to the censure of Macleans in parliament, it just demonstrates once again the prog/left’s reflexive, damnable, dangerous, and almost unexamined worldview that everything – what you eat, how much energy you consume, what views you are allowed to express, and, ultimately, what the media can and can’t say – should be subject to government control.
Consider Obama’s statement in his Rolling Stone interview:

“The golden age of an objective press was a pretty narrow span of time in our history. Before that, you had folks like Hearst who used their newspapers very intentionally to promote their viewpoints. I think Fox is part of that tradition — it is part of the tradition that has a very clear, undeniable point of view. It’s a point of view that I disagree with. It’s a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world. But as an economic enterprise, it’s been wildly successful. And I suspect that if you ask Mr. Murdoch what his number-one concern is, it’s that Fox is very successful.”

Where to start? With the fact that “89 to 91 percent of journalists covering Washington admit to voting Democrat” – a staggering figure, especially in light of all the attacks on Fox? Or with the way Obama mindfully elides the fact that Fox is successful as an “economic enterprise” only because so many Americans watch it compared to the other – massively liberal-biased – networks?
The leftist agenda is always a giant royal “we”:
“This is how we all feel about this. So stop saying that. Get with the program.”

  5. Here’s Bill Maher in prime form. According to him, if you don’t support a socialist, big gov’t society then you are: Hateful, Mentally Insane, Stupid, and Racist.
Who would have ever imagined that Debate would reach such great heights, eh?! 🙁

  6. batb – I saw that wierd thing on the HOC today too. I guess it is now unacceptable, in Canada, to form an opinion based on facts. What a sorry state of affairs! (pardon the pun).

  7. batb:
Arthur Andre the IND MP didn’t mind the Macleans article. If you are going to make the wildly optimistic claim, that you have a free press, what is the point in having Parliament censure the press?
Maybe all our MPs need to consult their Charter for enumerated freedoms…today they behaved like the collective Clown Party. Patent rubbish…
I’m thinking I should represent BonHomme in court on a libel suit against Macleans. I mean BonHomme’s good name has been besmirched! And look at all that cash in his briefcase, he must be spreading winter joyeux to all the kids just like St. Nicolaas.

“Royal Society blinks – embraces sceptics and uncertainty”
“The new guide says: “The size of future temperature increases and other aspects of climate change, especially at the regional scale, are still subject to uncertainty.”
The Royal Society even appears to criticise scientists who have made predictions about heatwaves and rising sea levels. It now says: “There is little confidence in specific projections of future regional climate change, except at continental scales.”
It adds: “It is not possible to determine exactly how much the Earth will warm or exactly how the climate will change in the future.
“There remains the possibility that hitherto unknown aspects of the climate and climate change could emerge and lead to significant modifications in our understanding.”
The working group that produced the new guide took advice from two Royal Society fellows who have links to the climate-sceptic think-tank founded by Lord Lawson of Blaby.
Professor Anthony Kelly and Sir Alan Rudge are members of the academic advisory council of the Global Warming Policy Foundation. They were among 43 fellows who signed a petition sent to Lord Rees, the society’s president, asking for its statement on climate change to be rewritten to take more account of questions raised by sceptics.”

  9. What is socialism?
Here it is: Utopia, aka Screw You.
Socialist Utopia: Where we all get screwed in socialism’s “brand new era”.
Kormos, of course, would sit at the apex of the Utopian Socialist Pyramid and become The Commissar of Screwing You.
“New Democrat MPP Peter Kormos said Ottawa should accept the prostitution ruling and the prospect of a “brand new era.””
TORedStar uses the politically correct words: “sex workers” which covers up/masks the ugly, deadly words: pimps, prostitutes, perverts, human trafficking, slavery, etc.

“Graeme Hamilton: Charest plays the victim card again
“Being Premier of a province that a major Canadian publication has just labelled the most corrupt in the country cannot be a good thing. Unless the province is Quebec and the publication is based in Toronto. In that case: Jackpot!”
“It may have been addressed to the Toronto headquarters of Maclean’s, but it was aimed a lot closer to home. Mr. Charest acknowledged as much, telling reporters he does not expect the magazine to apologize. “As Premier of Quebec, it’s important to speak for all Quebecers, including sovereigntists, who carry the principle blame in the article,” Mr. Charest said.”

  12. Here is a bit of fun News
It was 50yrs ago today ‘The Flintstones’ first aired
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/8034627/The-Flintstones-50th-anniversary-15-things-you-dont-know.html
    * the article is quite interesting, It points out 15 things you may not have known about The Flintstones.
The very first one shows what a different world we lived in back in the 60’s
The 1rst 2 seasons were sponsored by Winston Cigarettes.
Can you imagine the Uproar today If The Simpsons were sponsored by a smokes co or liquor etc..

  13. BTW in the article of The Flinstones 50th you can click and see the Winston TV Commercial(youtube) with Fred & Barney.

  14. For all those who are objecting to Macleans claim that Quebec is the most corrupt province, if they disagree with that contention, they should be prepared to offer their view as to which is the most corrupt province, with supporting evidence.
On a world scale, being the most corrupt province in Canada is a little bit like being the tallest midget.

    Haven’t opened this.
Betcha this “wants” “more” is from socialist NDP MPP Kormos.
Betcha it’s a plea from socialist Kormos in support of socialism’s “brand new era”: bedbug free beds. In the GULAG?

there’s a lot of turbulence in those waters at the moment.

  19. Fred at 8:03AM
C’mon Fred, you can do better than that. Are your numbers representative of “billions of dollars” or are they “per capita” or what?
I know what you’re trying to get at and I agree with you but the numbers in isolation are meaningless.

  20. Next watchdog? Fleas.
CTV/MSM does not identify this “Ont. MPP”‘s party.
    >>> It’s a socialist Liberal McGuinty MPP.
    Here’s how CTV puts it:
    >>> “Michael Colle, the member of provincial parliament who organized the summit,”.
It’s appropriate for a socialist: socialism is a blood-sucking gang.
More: “It’s a full house,” he said of the gathering being held across the street from the Ontario legislature.”
More more: “They’ve never gotten together in a room before, certainly in Canada, so it’s the first of its kind,” he said.”
But, look at the socialist/MSM enlightenment: “A female bedbug can lay 200 to 400 eggs during its one-year life span.”
    Wowch!

  21. Is Prince Chuck the Benefactress of the UK’s Royal Society?
Would someone please translate this* and this**?
Does it mean: the science is settled. Again?
Does it mean a cooling of the earth is underway?
*>>> ““The Royal Society now also agrees with the GWPF that the warming trend of the 1980s and 90s has come to a halt in the last 10 years,” said Dr Benny Peiser, the Director of the GWPF.”
    This also requires explication:
**>>> “The former publication gave the misleading impression that the ‘science is settled’ – the new guide accepts that important questions remain open and uncertainties unresolved.”

  22. I was listening to Dave Rutherford’s radio program this morning when a caller provided more evidence of CBC’s manipulation of yet another poll. Yesterdays poll gave optional responses to Hollywood Cameron’s medling with the oil sands issue. The caller indicated he was up most of the night and watched the evolution of the results. Until approximately 3:00 AM the results were decidedly (4 or 5 to 1) against Cameron. Then within about 30 minutes, in the middle of the night, the results swung dramatically in Cameron’s favour. This required a large number of votes, at a time when most of the country was sound asleep and also at a time when the ‘comments’ section on the poll was silent. Go figure!!!
Did anyone save any timely screenshots???

“We didn’t set out to look at human rights but rather to tackle the illegal fishing that’s decimating fish stocks, but having been on board we have seen conditions that unquestionably meet the UN official definition of forced labour or modern-day slavery,” EJF investigator Duncan Copeland said. A report on the abuses is published by the foundation today.
Its photographs and film of the areas in which the crews were working and sleeping show quarters with ceilings less than a metre high where the men cannot stand up. Temperatures in the fish holds on some vessels where men were being required to sort, process and pack fish for lucrative European and Asian markets were 40 to 45 degrees, with no ventilation, On some vessels the crews of up to 200 had little access to clean drinking water.”

  24. For years, Canadian children did not have fleas and bedbugs were rare – what changed? Buildings and homeowners stopped opening windows to let in fresh air and people stopped smoking tobacco in most houses and buildings. Burning tobacco to kill fleas and bedbugs is a remedy as old as the hills. Stale, oxygen lite, disease-infested air that is recycled in all the ‘modern greenie’ air tight buildings is a breeding ground for nasty little biting beasties who live on fresh/dried blood, dead skin, hair..Foul mold builds up in enclosures devoid of fresh air; the mold is a nest for those filthy Fleas and bed bugs who also love constant temperatures.
Should I apply for a job in Mcshifty’s Ont.?
