And now we hear, the rest of the story…
In a turn of events that has cast a fresh perspective on a high-profile diplomatic tussle, Michael Spavor, a Canadian detained in China, has publicly accused his fellow prisoner, Michael Kovrig, of espionage. Spavor alleges that Kovrig’s intelligence gathering activities led to their arrest by Chinese authorities, a claim that hints at a potential fracture in their relationship and raises questions about the role Kovrig played while in China.
According to Spavor, he was ensnared into providing intelligence on North Korea to Canada and its allied spy services. He alleges that this entrapment was orchestrated by Kovrig, a fellow Canadian prisoner. This accusation slants a new light on the prolonged incarceration of Spavor and Kovrig and brings Kovrig’s undertakings in China under scrutiny.
Confidential negotiations are currently underway between Toronto lawyer, John K Phillips, who represents Spavor, and Global Affairs Canada. These discussions are of significant importance as they could potentially impact the diplomatic relations between Canada and China, already strained due to the detention of the two Canadian.
I did kind of wonder why Kovrig had been dicking around in North Korea.

C’mon.
You mean he wasn’t there for the North Korean women?

… “it is still possible that North Korea’s absence from the Miss Universe pageant is simply due to the fact that the country does not have any eligible contestants.”

So as far as winners are concerned, they’re tied with Scotland then. They may be super happy to meet with you, like, “really really super happy” to meet with you.

Google A-yeon, tho she is from South Korea.
I’m not doubting that Canadians were involved in this affair…
The truth is often heard next week.
The contributors all have similar grandiose bits on how the authors are groundbreaking and leaders in their field. Is this a good example of AI, or a bad example ?
Michael Kovrig, between 2013 and 2019, donated between $1,200 – $1,500 to the federal Liberal party. One of the $1,200 donations, made from Ottawa, was to the Ellington-Lawrence Liberal riding association in October 2015, then represented by Marco Mendicino. Another in 2013, again when Kovrig was living in Ottawa, was made to the Toronto Centre Liberal riding association. At the time of the donatio (and to this day) this riding was represented by Chrystia Freeland.
All of this is to suggest that Mr. Kovrig has had fairly deep ties to the Liberal party. Whether or not these ties translate to the businessman cooperating in government-intelligence gathering is open to speculation, but nothing more. But BNN Breaking is a decently reputable on-line news site.
Btw, I sent cards to Mr. Kovrig and Mr. Spivor every other month, while they were in prison, to cheer them up. I was and am on their side.
12 to 15 hundred is peanuts and would not get you squat in the scheme of things.
Not sure how the Bong spent his time at the Asia/Pacific conference last week in San Francisco but none of the world leaders would waste their time talking to him.
China’s Xi doesn’t even try to contain his contempt for our inglorious Bong. The knob Gavin Newsom went so far as to ridicule the fool over his sock fetish.
Now the bitch fight between the 2 Michaels and the Bongs government threatens to reveal state secrets.
This should be helpful in our relationship with China.
He was probably getting his Joly’s off…
I’m sure most of the world leaders view him as a useful idiot, who can be counted on to scold the citizens of the nation he’s supposedly leading.
Good one!!
If they were both still there
I still wouldn’t care.
