National Post- Freeland’s ‘Vibecession’ economics are TikTok nonsense
The fact we aren’t “feeling” the messaging that the economy is “set for a soft landing” is “not great” for our economy, we are told. It affects our economic behaviour. It’s so bad, in fact, that “a lot of economists” have gone so far as to diagnose the rejection of the Liberals’ economic outlook as a “vibecession.” If this ridiculous diagnostic term sounds like it came from a 25-year old TikTok influencer — that’s because it did.
Chrystia Freeland is batshit goofy. She talks in riddles and sounds confused when attempting to explain. The fact that only she fell for something like vibecession is un-surprising. Valley gurl talk.
The libranos roll her out as someone who has genuine economic bonafides. She has none. She wrote a book. She was an unremarkable journalist. She demonstrated no financial deftness during her time in management (was it Reuters?). She has been a reckless profilgate spender as Minister of Finance.
She got the job because the majority of Canadian politicians are ‘graduates’ of the WEF leadership program and she is on the WEF’s Board of Directors. In that group, being the granddaughter of an unapologetic nazi doesn’t hurt.
She is Canada’s “answer” to Kamala Harris. An absolute NOBODY.
What the ruling “elites” forget is that a lot of people only make $40k to $60K, which isn’t a lot with today’s prices and the usurious taxes all levels of government punish those who work for a living. So, spending frivolously, like aforesaid governments, really isn’t an option for the tax-payer.
This soft landing stuff is nonsense. The plane has been in the air for 2.5 years already. The economy went into recession in March 2022, then came out, then went back into recession in March-April 2023, then came back. It’s running on empty because taxes are at an all time high and tax payers have less disposable income (and less taxable income).
So go ahead and throw us some crumbs. See what sticks.
