If you read very carefully and almost to the bottom of a very long article.
CBC- Conservatives are targeting Singh over his pension — but Poilievre’s is three times larger
The difference between getting a pension and not getting one is also significant, said Newell. If Singh doesn’t hit six years of service early next year, he’s only entitled to a refund of his pension contributions with interest.
Francisco- I believe they call this “burying the lede”.
Hold off Jagmeet! Wait until you’re qualified before even thinking of NOT supporting the government. See if you can suckhole your way back into Justin’s good graces, though now that the Bloc is Canada’s chief extortionist, it may be impossible.
Say, Canader has never had a Sikh Governor-general, something to think about Justin.
If all else fails though, perhaps India will give Khalistan independence and Jagmeet can be it’s first Prime Minister, then he can give himself whatever pension he wants.
All the goats he can do.
The thing that always gets me in talk like this is people missing a key factor: MPs contribute *none* of their own money. All of their earnings from payroll and benefits are tax dollars. All of it. They pay no taxes because it was all tax revenue (or deficit financing thereof) to begin with. It’s a closed-loop system. They’re all spending our money for decades to come, and we shouldn’t pretend otherwise.
The MP pension scam is one of the biggest acts of theft ever conceived by some very crafty and brazen criminals.
The “Gold Plated Pension” that they gave themselves.
Immoral and unethical… should be a criminal act to steal money like that.
Gangsters.
Back in the day, they taught us in social studies that the “permanent civil list” was created to reduce the need for petty corruption among civil servants and officials. At the time it made sense to me. However, what it appears to have done is allow the apparatchiks to be able to focus on grander larceny and power accumulation, rather than small things like bribes for a building permit.
Much like “the house always wins”, the people always lose.
Marc you have no idea how often I have tried to make that point to brain dead canadians. It also applies to all nonproductive government employees.
I successfully did it once to my parents, and I had to use a napkin diagram for it. It was actually kind of cool seeing the lights come on. Still a long road to go.
Wow, just 6 years of selling us down the river so he can piss in it for life.
That is not the point. The point is that Singh has propped up a minority government to avoid an election when the Canadian people have made it very clear they want an election now and he feels his seat is in peril.
Singh is a shipped-in candidate, not a long time BC resident. Why should anyone in that Burnaby riding vote for him? He should be worried, as the NDP has accomplished nothing of value there during his sojourn.
We regularly read that Canadians have a low level of productivity, decreasing wealth, and inflated housing and food prices. The dollar sucks and we do not make stuff anymore.
Harper made the mistake of not downsizing MP pensions, as they are even richer that Ottawa gov’t workers’ pensions.
The Bloc Fascist from Quebec can also save the Liberals. They have a lot of members with at risk pensions.
No election soon, I guess.
Jagmeet’s seat is not in question. It’s Surrey South. Heart of BC NDP. That’s why he, an Ontario resident, chose that safe seat. His pension is secure. The question I have, is mine? Is my CPP that I paid into secure? Is my RRSPs that I paid into secure? The longer Jagmeet keeps Trudeau in power the more jeopardy all our pensions are in. And Marc Carney wants to get his hands on them.
Burnaby South, not Surrey South, is Singh’s riding, and is NOT the “heart of the NDP”. Check the vote history.
The Bloc Québécois will keep Trudeau in power until after the US election and into 2025.
S, the dollar value of all money you saved for retirement is worth at least ten percent less every year since the liberals took power. I have watched as mine evaporated over the years with Twaddels spending money we don’t and giving away money we don’t have, borrowing and printing money to give to other countries. Yes the government was, is and continues to be the problem.
Even if you’re a destructive little pissant fool – you have to at least show up for awhile to get a pension.
But he supports Liberals because he’s just as filled with hate as they are.
National Socialism hasn’t changed in 90 years…
This ‘whataboutism’ doesn’t work here CBC. Pierre is not a communist. Jag is. I’m an equal opportunist. I hate all communists whether black, brown, yellow, red or white equally.
