  2. Maduro is pushing his country to be like North Korea. He want to pacify the masses by starving them into submission. There’s not going to be much rebellion when people’s greatest concern is to stay alive, preferably while malnourished.

  3. Sounds like that’s his plan, but he’s got quite the wrong geography for a “hermit state”. North Korea is surrounded on two sides by sea and China on top, Venezuela has neighbors on three sides and the sea on one, it will be exceedingly difficult for him to keep people from voting with their feet.

  4. So then … Maduro (pronounced – Murder-o) has already begun enforcing Venezuela’s “New Constitution” … “New Revolution” that has passed overwhelmingly by vote of “the people” today. So then, Murder-o has been granted the “Constitional” authority to eliminate the opposition … permanently. Welcome to the natural state of Socialism, Communism, Marxism, collectivism … death and totalitarian rule. Sorry Venezuela … you wanted FREE STUFF from your government … meh … this is simply the bill come due for your government SWAG … total loss of freedom. You are now OWNED by the Devil who promised you everything.

    I remember watching a Frontline documentary about Chavez on PBS a few years ago. He won the support of the poor because he gave him all that “free” stuff, and, thereby, was seen to be copiously dispensing social justice. In other words, he bought he support by bribing the masses.
    Venezuela is slowly waking up to the universal truth of TANSTAAFL.

Venezuela is blessed with an industrious population, forests, arable land, oil and other chemicals, fisheries, and tourism opportunities, all of which are useless when The People (bless them) vote for looters who tell them what they want to hear instead of leaders who remind them of what they already know.

  7. Venezuela has very effective gun control. All guns were “owned” by the state, and you only had a permit to possess them. About two years ago, Maduro ordered the round up of the few guns that were in private hands. Now, the only people that have guns are the police, the armed forces, and Maduro’s Chavista Thugs.
    The citizens do not have any guns. That is why they are fighting back with rocks, slingshots, and jars filled with excrement. When they catch a thief, they either beat the thief to death, or pour on the government subsidized gasoline and light him up. Horrific.
    Venezuelan citizens do not have any guns, and that is one reason why it has one of the highest murder rates in the world. It is also the reason that Maduro is staying. So is the violence, the starvation, and the slow collapse of civilization in Venezuela, as long as Maduro and Socialism run Venezuela.

  11. The left-wing Kook websites are saying that the reason socialism failed in Venezuela is that they didn’t implement real socialism. Also, all of the parties in opposition to Maduro are socialist to varying degrees as well. The people just lap it up.

    Yes, only the really marginal leftie kooks and moonbats are now defending the Venezuelan “Revolution”. And being true believers of course, they just cannot countenance the idea that the country is simply imploding from colossal mismanagement of its own making; far better to blame those evil imperialist Trumpistas.
    If anything is noticeable though, it’s the deafening silence from all those celebs who used to bill and coo endlessly over Chavez.
