“Roaring Ralph”

Lorrie Goldstein zips up truth’s pants. I can’t count how many times over the weekend I heard canards like, “the court ordered payment” or “Harper caused this”, etc. Good on Lorrie for trying to right the mistruths Goodale and his ilk are spreading like so much bovine excrement.

Goodale — let’s call him “Roaring Ralph” — with an assist from Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould, approached Baghdad Bob levels of disinformation last week as they executed the Trudeau government’s strategy of blaming Harper for the Khadr mess the Liberals created.

  1. The overriding strategy of ALL Liberals/liberals/progressives is to immediately scream “He started it!”, and this generally happens before they even know what “it” is/was.

  3. – And why is this in the Toronto Sun instead of the CBC? Inquiring minds don’t really have to ask…

  4. the lieberal and msm will be spinning this until the next election. if only we could fertilize our fields with all this BS.

  5. This is the LIE bral way blame anyone and everyone else.
    – This is the politician way; the CON-servatives did as bad in their day, just ask Lyin’ Brian. “You can tell when politicians are lying – their lips move…”

  6. Lyin’ Brian [Mulroney] was a lying Progressive …
“Brian Mulroney: March 20, 1939 Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Canada Canadian politician, leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada (1983-93)”. (britannica)

  7. Wake me when anyone in this country gets intelligent enough to vote for a serious dismantling of government. When Trudeau’s charter gets ash canned, the SOC sees some impeachments, and the size of government gets limited to 0.5% of the population (all levels combined) then we will have a start at actually getting a free country.

  8. Come on Y.KNOTT! —-If y’all do not understand the difference between Liberal Political Communication and the Truth please go back to Global Warming/Climate Change tax-payer funding places.

  9. In all of this passing the buck politics there is a little thing that has been overlooked. Everyone Libs, DIPS, and Cons have confirmed that it was Khadr’s parents that subjected him to terrorist training by transporting him from Canada to Afghanistan to take part in terrorist attacks. Why hasn’t the mother been charged with child endangerment? Inquiring minds would like to know. The Liberals are especially guilty in this oversight. The Chretien government bailed Khadr senior out of a Pakistani jail, and then had one of Khadr’s brothers brought back to Canada for medical treatment for wounds sustained in a battlefield engagement. To the average laymen it would seem that there is enough evidence in this case to lay charges of child endangerment and child abandonment.

  10. Ralph has done himself a mischief with this one. He can’t sell that kinda shit any more. He should really pack it in and I believe he will if he gets enough flak from his constituents.

  11. David Milgaard received $10 million for wrongful conviction of a rape charge after he spent 23 years behind bars. The question is, why is Khadar being treated as having suffered to the same extent as Milgaard (e.g. $10.5 million worth)?
Milgaard was found to be innocent of the charges. Khadar merely sued the Government of Canada claiming Canada and the United States conspired to abuse his rights. Those allegations were never proven in court. Instead Canada settled with his lawyers for roughly half the $20 million claim. If the Harper Conservative government did indeed conspire to abuse Khadar’s rights, why is the Liberal government so quickly trying to conclude this suit?

  12. – So, what are you saying, Mike? That only Liberal politicians lie?
    Just curious…

  13. I’m not to blame.
    Someone else is to blame.
That’s the way it is, not my fault, on anything. I only get credit, no blame. Accountability is for losers, just ask the native leadership.
But someone else is to blame, that’s for sure; otherwise who needs my sorry progressive, statist ass?
    Flip, rinse, repeat, spin.
Can’t wait for the inevitable, you’re ignorant, racist, Islamophobic, etc.
Trying that will not work in this case, Canadians are PO’d.
This was certainly not “what Canadians want.”
When will people learn when you let government make good choices for you, they make bad ones for you, but good choices for themselves.
After all, on Khadr, “everybody knows” Khadr would win the court case.
Really? Except this is from the peanut gallery, no Clarence Darrows anywhere.
Throw in secret payoff on long weekend, intended to prevent Speer widow from collecting on her judgment, to avoid a messy trial in 2019.
Add to that the Khadr family connections with Chretien and the LPC. Their minions are already crying fake news on that one.
Too bad for the Grits there’s smoke and fire there, along with ties to other Canadian Islamists, keen to shut off any dissent or reality.
Scheer can play this, with this as another example of big, bad government, unlimited even by the will of the people and their deplorable views.
We’ll see how long voter memories are, but people I don’t even know bring this up, they are outraged and disgusted.
Even those who do acknowledge Khadr could have won his case and it would cost more don’t give a frig about legalities or the no-choicers.
This is the Tories chance at Duffygate, bring it up ad nauseum, forever showing it as an example of poor judgment and dishonesty.
Along with fake deficits, now structural at $30b+, fake recessions and fake platforms.
Oh, and Mr Harper was right in all his warnings. How good does he look to Canadians now that they’ve gotten over the national temper tantrum?

  14. In which Lance plainly does not understand the article or the debate.
Yes, the Liberals were also complicit. So what? It makes really no difference in the real world, the one unaffected by your partisan blinders.

  15. Even CBC couldn’t find unanimity on the “we were gonna lost bigger in court’ argument. Of their 3 legal experts, one said he’s in for sure, (with specious examples like Millgard btw), one said it was doubtful he’d get a big award, and the third said it had a “reasonable chance.”
“To state the obvious, this was never a routine case. Most commentary ignores the (sui generis=unique) novelty of the Supreme Court’s charter analysis in 2008 and 2010, which makes a poor basis for predicting the outcome of a separate civil suit. The originality of the issue was reason enough to make Khadr establish his case to a standard of legal proof in court.”
I am sure the government received a risk analysis from Justice Department lawyers, which may have said that $10.5 million was a reasonable settlement. That should have factored into the government’s decision, but it didn’t need to be decisive. Unlike a class action, where the potential compensation could have ranged into hundreds of millions of dollars, the upper range of the risk in this case was limited.”
Back in 2014, Khadr’s own lawyer looked forward to “a full hearing and full airing of what happened to Omar and how he was treated by both the United States and Canadian government authorities.” The Canadian government should have given him that opportunity, for his sake, for the taxpayer’s sake, and for the sake of clarity and certainty in the law.”
Not that I care. This scumbag deserves none of our money and I don’t care how much it costs or how long it takes to fight this traitor.

  16. Hmm it seems the Liberals and their supporters are the ones who are blinking over this unimportant in their minds matter.

  17. If there’s such a thing as reincarnation, Ralphie comes back as a hemorrhoid.

  18. Yes! Ralphie is one of the most obvious brown nose to all leaders of his party no matter what. He was nodding/jerking and kissing ass no matter how ridiculous their policies. He has accomplished nothing of note beyond being a Liberal MP from Wascana.

  19. Libtards:”Do as we say or we’ll call you racist.”
    Harper/CPC:”OK, don’t hurt me!”
    Worse than useless.

  20. Countermove time:
Post a picture of yourself with the words “Justin Trudeau does not apologize for me”
Be warned the SJWs will try to smear you, attack you at work and every place they can reach you. The faster this meme takes off the less effect the SJWs can have against you.

  21. Baghdad Bob, Ottawa Ralph? has a ring to it
I notice that in a significant sampling of these pronouncements the relevant Minister (usually female, young) is silently standing by. Is this an indication that the ‘diversity’ cabinet is not working out and the old white male is the only reasonably mature go to guy they have, or is it that the Trudeau government is sexist, ageist, clueless? Trudeau – stop silencing the student council.
