  1. American here and I gave. Not a lot but every little bit helps. Your press is as lopsided and as bad as ours and ours is terrible.
I hope our next president slashes our NPR and PBS to zero. Let Warren Buffet, Bill Gates and other Obama lovers pay for the crap with their own money.

  2. You can’t pay through paypal.
Ezra, you might want to consider that form of payment option.
Hell, I’d pay to have Brian Lilley get a decent haircut.

  3. “Where is the revenue?”
Good question… they need to start pitching a subscription fee. A few dollars a month which I think most of us would be happy to pay their product.
You can’t keep going back to donors to “kickstart” funding for staff constantly.

  4. I was given a paypal option yesterday when I donated. That was for the monthly studio costs though. I haven’t tried other options though.

  5. I have donated a hundo, i’m going to wait until i get my taxes back and i may give a little more, i will also sign up for 20/mo recurring.
Folks if we could get several SDA folks, doing the same this thing may actually get some serious legs and man wouldn’t the media party fill their shorts.
They could not be able to silence them/us.
Please folks one time is very good, but the long term needs serious stable financial help.
Please consider even 10$ a month recurring. i would love it. that would put yet another steak in the heart of the main stream media ,as Ezra from his and Brian lilleys living rooms , single handedly put together a viable news company that can compete with the big 4 , and who knows maybe in time the blaze and fox news see’s them as a viable Canadian news branch. it makes the case even more so to cut all gov funding for news networks.

  7. What is the long game here? How is this sustainable? Not throwing my money away on something that does not have proven durability. Get a plan together. You remind me of a street corner beggar who is just living for the day but with no concept or idea of the future. I don’t support beggars.

  8. Anyone who is a tax paying Canadian is supporting the beggars at CBC. Why not voluntarily support therebel? Even if it’s just to send a message that we’re tired of supporting the Mother corpse.

  9. Ease up Iola. It’s only been a couple of days. They’re raising venture capital to garner assets that can be leveraged as security and propel them into business. The revenue stream will come from regular subscriptions once they have a team and equipment put together and are producing a steady supply of product. This should all be self-evident. Beggars don’t offer to work for you.

  10. Western Report on to Sun TV. I will continue to support a alternative message from the CBC, CTV and Global. It is not a process that Ezra will get rich from. He and his partners have a commitment beyond profit. I could not do that but I am glad they are willing to give it a go.
Harper and the CPC could learn a few lessons from these guys.

  11. If you go to the crowdfunding page, you’ll see a mixture of one-off requests and subscription options. One-offs for fixed assets, subscriptions for operating costs. Not only have they thought this through quite thoroughly, they’ve divided up the options so you can support precisely what you want to support – for instance, if you want more Middle Eastern coverage than Civil Liberties coverage (or vice versa) you can fund appropriately.
I encourage all the skeptics to go have a look at the page before snarking. It’s a model of how crowdfunding a startup should be done. The level of engagement it generates it devious.

  12. I love Ezra but the biz has to be viable. 17 lousy comments of which 3 are mine and 2 more are poodles barking at me. Ezra, dump this pig and do something else. You deserve better.
