    1. That’s nothing new to me.

During the time I was teaching at Armpit College, and also while I was a graduate teaching assistant, I had students who tried to prove to me that 2 + 2 wasn’t equal to 4 and that they were right. People like that also tried to convince me that one can push on a rope.

  1. Ubisoft is undoubtedly subsidized by the Quebec government (with Alberta money).
They have just fired their entire senior management in Quebec for harassmen.

    Their CCO was particularly vile.

Hascoet once replied acrimoniously to a company VP’s criticisms, telling coworkers, “this ‘bad fuck’ [the VP] was hindering his creativity and that someone should open her mind by ‘[fucking her] from behind’ and ‘sharing her around until she gets it.'” In another alleged incident, Hascoet “reportedly blocked a woman in the elevator and put himself against her, making groaning sounds and looking her in the eyes. Some of his collaborators in the editorial team reportedly did the same, to the point it became [a signature move].”

  2. Ok.. whoever Ann Reborn might be… she did a soulless uncomprehending cover of California dreaming right there. Plus she is a rudimentary bass player.
Like so many of the young folk, it is all mimicry but lacking in sound, fury, and soul.
    But nice narcissistic try, girl.
    Peace.

    1. I agree. I cringed while listening to it, my displeasure made worse by her being off-key at the end. Multi-tracking her bland voice didn’t improve things.

At least the Mama’s and the Papa’s not only knew how to sing but did so with passion.

      1. Thanks, that might explain why I found it somewhat off-putting. I found myself peering into the gloom wondering if I could spy a ham sandwich.

    2. Ann Reburn may not be the world’s best singer but the 27 year old actually makes a living doing these YouTube videos.
She has over 200,000 mostly Spanish speaking subscribers to her channel (she lived in Spain for a year)

      1. That’s proof that there’s no accounting for bad taste.

  3. Dont be fooled by the active case count in Canada. Actual is around 3000-3200. For some reason Quebec has severe lag.

    1. That is absolutely correct. Kebek has been feeding us deliberately (and crudely) false active case counts for months.
Also interestingly our mortality rate conditional on confirmed case is about twice that of US or global rates, which either means we are undertesting and undercounting or suck at treatment.
In the meantime everyone has to wear a mask all the time and we have always been at war with Eastasia.

      1. Queerbec has been feeding us bullshit for hundreds of years not months but I get your point

  4. When we #Wexit we’ll need a powerful song like this one to have as an anthem — I hereby propose this one, provided that ‘they’ will sell it to us. (whomever they are) You can hear the words in the music,” Liberty, Liberty, Liberty, or death” — it sends chills up one’s spine and down the leg!

John Adams” HBO Opening Titles Theme Song

Btw: This series is still available on HBO (on demand) it’s excellent.

    1. I frequently hear the opening of that piece because John Batchelor often uses it as introductory music for some of his interviews.

In last night’s podcasts, he borrowed from the soundtrack of the movie Full Metal Jacket.

        1. Just like he did for other movies, Stanley Kubrick changed the way I listen to certain songs used in FMJ (e. g., These Boots Are Made For Walking, Mickey Mouse theme song).

    1. That’s hardly unusual. Many astronomical objects that are considered commonplace today were “whatzits” at first, such as black holes, pulsars, and gravitational lenses.

What these new objects show is that there are, obviously, things that haven’t been observed before and that an explanation for them might be possible using new or different instruments.

      1. B A – I don’t disagree, but the whole point Kate is trying to make with her “sound of settled science” blog heading is that many aspects of science are not settled, which is juxtaposed to climate science whose practioners want to jail people who point out the imprecise nature and less than certain outcomes of their science.

Another aspect of unsettled science is that the universe isn’t as boring as our high school science teachers would have us believe. Absolute truth wasn’t guaranteed with the proclamations of Galileo, Newton and Darwin. As brilliant as Newton was, Einstein showed his laws were only right under certain conditions. I’ve heard CBC and music radio DJs tell the story, in a condescending manner, about the Catholic Church being proven wrong by Galileo. They always fail to mention that it was a Catholic priest who first formulated the big bang theory. A theory that suggests that while science can map the evolution of complex entities it may never be able to explain how everything came into being in the first place.
There are things in the universe that we may never fully comprehend, but we’ll keep trying, because science isn’t racist…

        1. many aspects of science are not settled, which is juxtaposed to climate science whose practioners want to jail people who point out the imprecise nature and less than certain outcomes of their science

          I agree on that point.

Another aspect of unsettled science is that the universe isn’t as boring as our high school science teachers would have us believe.

That’s because we didn’t know very much about it 50 years ago. The first pulsar had been discovered around then. Black holes were unheard of, as were gravitational lenses.

Dark matter/dark energy, let along string theory, likely weren’t conceived of at the time.

Keep in mind, the best astronomical instruments in the world when we were in high school were the 200-inch Hale Telescope on top of Mount Palomar, and the radio telescope at Jodrell Bank. The first x-ray satellite, Uhuru, was launched about that time. However, many of the instruments that exist now had already been proposed, though not necessarily formally.

    1. Wasted my time watching The Amazing Polly.

She must have been the last person on earth that didn’t know about the German scientists who split between the USSR and the USA at the end of WW11. Think the American space program and Werner Von Braun.

She has too much time on her hands – spelling out conspiracy theories.

      1. abtrapper – To each his own. (A saying on the bottom of an old bone china teacup made in Prussia, one that I rescued from a second hand store. Truth.

  5. There were some here who wrote recently about certain magazines and how their content and styles have changed over the years, and who was good looking in the photos within said publications and who they liked etc.

As an avid reader, I read your comments, and in this case, I submit the following about a woman you all heard about, who is no longer with us. In her day, she often appeared in magazine publications. She was a woman who loved people, loved life and this woman was loved by all; she had style, class, panache and most importantly, she had charm.

Alberta is a lovely place and well known as a backdrop in the film industry. Here’s a short video describing what the locals thought of one actress who filmed here back in the 1950s.

Some, are still smitten with her to this day.

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

    1. River of No Return shows up on TCM once in a while. I didn’t think it was a particularly outstanding movie for either Monroe or Robert Mitchum.

  6. Does anyone truly believe anything will be done about the Trudeau/WE scandal aside from the opposition yakking on?
Trudeau and the Liberals are just waiting it out, nothing will happen, the beat goes on.

    1. Three ethics violations or 13 it doesn’t matter.
There are a minimum 30% hardcore Blackie voters who don’t care if he gives a nun a Bill Cosby cocktail then experiences something different with her unconscious body.
      Real people don’t vote Liberal.

    2. The benefits for turfing him just are not there for them.
He is their meal ticket, only when he stops delivering the goods will they want to be rid of him.

    3. Well lets see.
What is the total number Public Servants across Canada, Province & Municipality..?? I’d be curious to know what percentage of “canadians” that number represents .??

I can garantee you not one of those trough feeding sluts vote Conservative.

      1. In February, before the Whuflu lockdown, public sector employees represented a little over 20% of those employed. Since almost no public sector employees have been laid off since then, this percentage would be much higher now.

    4. Liz J – If anything happens, it’s because of sheer boredom re. Trudeau and his crass entourage.

  7. And now the news from the bought and paid for Canadian media this morning. Trump is Hitler. Canadians are racist bastards.

  8. Since members of the Korean cult are called “Moonies”, I think members of the Trudeau cult should be called “Blackies”.

  9. National press ignores 24 year old Jessica Doty shot one week ago in the head for saying “all lives matter” in Indianpolis via Gateway pundit

  10. We are a nation of communities where, according to the Trudeau Charter all are equal before and under the law. This is multiculturalism, the great divider.
However, given such things as HRC’s set up to deal with complaints of racism and the likes, some are often more equal than others.

  11. An hour long video on Seattle gone for shite. Interesting if you have time. Only half of crime was being acted on already and punishments minimal or non-existent. Your typical catch and release program only worse. Cut the police budget in half and it would be a good time to bail out while you can still sell your house. Too bad you can’t short sell Seattle housing.
