O, Sweet Saint Of San Andreas

Hear my prayer.

Caltrans has agreed to pay $5.5 million to settle a lawsuit in which the department was accused of violating the constitutional rights of homeless people in Alameda County by seizing their belongings during camp cleanups.

  1. All Texas has to do, is declare “we are a sanctuary state from the California tax man”…

Although, it seems likely that all the intelligent people have already left California, and all they get left are bitter clingers who don’t produce much…

  2. Damn it pays to be homeless.
    $5000 with zero expenses.
    Party time.
Just like our beggars, every homeless person had “property” there.
Just as the Residential Schools were Hell On Earth for all.
And every resident at Mt Chassel was buggerized.

Maybe some clever airline will offer seat sales to Hawaii.

  3. How is this any different from evicting anyone?
They get a notice to clean out in so many days
    If they don’t do it…
…the sheriffs department shows up and puts all your crap out on the street

  4. Well, since owning a home at some point became a standard, anyone who chooses not to own one had become garbage. People used to live on horseback and by the campfire side for centuries. What has changed?
I cannot find any flaws in the decision. Either you have laws against vagrancy, and each vagrant has to be convicted by a court, or you stop harassing the homeless. Can’t have it both ways.

    1. Yes, but people were self-sufficient back then.
In order to put more control on the populace, the government made it illegal to live off the land.

  5. ummmmm . . . .
    oh boy.
do they *realize* the PRECEDENT they just set? hmmmm????
    it
    just
    encourages
    the
    negative
    behaviour
    godamit.
all thru history ferfcuksake. appeasement appeasement appeasement blowing up in their addle brained faces.
liberalism at the root of the belief appeasement will work.
its the same thing with ransom kidnappings.
especially when its an ‘aid worker’ grabbed by the mullah’s henchmen.
*they use the financial proceeds to carry out additional kidnappings*

    1. Think of Poor Little Omar(TM). He claimed that the Americans gave him an owie and Prinz Dummkopf, waterworks at the ready, turns him into the Ten Million Dollar Man.

  6. US$5,000?
Now how many overdoses can that buy an unrepenting addict?
Sounds like a means to lower the homeless population.

    1. That was my first thought. But then I realized that most of the money goes to the blood-sucking lawyers. But they should get about $500 apiece which is still enough for several overdoses, the eventual result will be the same.

  7. The usurious taxes and fees I pay to fund CalTrans go to anything and everything … EXCEPT … maintaining and improving our crumbling and crowded freeways. I expect the leaders of CalTrans were THRILLED to find yet another “high speed train” of a shithole to dump my tax dollars into. 🙁

    1. You have the 2nd but you use only the 1st. The 2nd is in place for a reason. Until you start using it, you have no leg to stand on when you whine under the 1st.
Guess what I am referring to.
