Readers will doubtless be intrigued by the “foraged” food – i.e., carrots and leaves, served repeatedly – plus the unheated rooms, the lack of running water, and the whole shitting-in-a-barrel thing. For a mere £900 a night, one can’t expect luxuries like plumbing, protein, or the prospect of heat.

The purpose of interest rates is to align the supply of capital with the demand for it. When they fall to zero, that sends a false signal that capital practically self-replicates and that no one really needs to care about where capital gets invested. These “malinvestments” are starting to show up more and more these days.

Among other things, authorities are trying to determine whether Tricolor double-pledged—using the same set of subprime loans as collateral against multiple warehouse loans. This would be akin to a homeowner with a $500K mortgage on a $600K house taking a second mortgage for $500K without notifying—in fact, intentionally withholding relevant information from—the lender about the first mortgage.

In fact, her NDP government, led by Premier David Eby, has been doing everything in its power to have Aboriginal title triumph across B.C.

British police said 10 people have been hospitalized, nine with life-threatening injuries, following a mass stabbing attack on a London-bound train Saturday evening, and that counter-terrorism police are supporting the investigation.

In a statement early Sunday, British Transport Police, which took the lead in the response given it is responsible for security matters on the trains, said two individuals have been arrested in connection with the stabbings.

British policing has entered Dead Parrot Sketch stage.

Regarding the consequent conflictedness and anxiety, all that progressive wrongness, these three posts include suitably vivid illustrations of the phenomenon.

Among which, a claim that more theatre for schoolchildren would somehow deter the kinds of creatures who repeatedly sucker-punch elderly ladies for being the wrong race, and a chap who insists that women should allow themselves to be mugged lest their mugger, out on probation, come to harm.

Oh, and the belief, expressed by a Guardian columnist, that when you find your home being burgled in the middle of the night, the real victims, the people deserving of sympathy and indulgence, are the ones breaking into your home while brandishing carving knives and then driving off with your valuables in your car.
