Frankly My Dear

David French;

It’s not common to see a leftist still carrying the torch for the Viet Cong and the NVA, but it’s a useful reminder of the rage that beats within some leftist hearts, a rage that can even take a symbol meant to honor and remind Americans of the undeniable fact that there are — in fact — men who are missing in Vietnam, men we can’t account for an may never be found, and turn it into a symbol of — you guessed it — racism.

Free Roosh V!

Kathy Shaidle;

I give these broads credit for one thing: Roosh (whose real name, they note, is Daryush Valizadeh) is quite possibly the brownest, most foreign-looking guy they’ve ever picked on.
I’d also bet that many of this petition’s female signatories defended swarthy Canadian liberal heartthrob, secular Muslim, and accused serial woman-basher Jian Ghomeshi for day after embarrassing day, and that they swoon over even-swarthier Canadian liberal heartthrob, convicted Muslim terrorist, and documented woman-hater Omar Khadr.

He couldn’t have paid for better publicity: Internet searches for Roosh V have never been higher, so if Canadian liberals were attempting to silence him or drive him into obscurity, well. Lame job guys.

Free Pam Geller!

This is the best thing you’ll read all week.

Oh? We’re criticizing Ms. Gellar, a woman who was just the subject of a jihadi assassination attempt and who may well be a marked woman for the rest of her life, on niggling matters of tone and style?
And we need to do this now? We need to trot out the smug and absolutely unexamined, absolutely thoughtless vanities of Upper Middle Class Respectability and attack Ms. Gellar for not doing it in quite the way we would have, even as, in all likelihood, she scrambles to find long-term security to protect her life?
For drawing a cartoon?

This is about class. This is all about class.
This is about, specifically, the careerist, cowardly, go-along-to-get-along mores of the Upper Middle Class, the class of people whose parents were all college educated, and of course are college educated themselves; the class that dominates our thought-transmitting institutions (because non-college educated people are more of less shut out of this industry).
It is a class which is deathly afraid of social stigma, and lives in class-based fear being grouped with the wrong people, and which is more interested in Career, quite frankly, than in the actual tradecraft of that Career, which is clarity of thought and clarity of expression.

This is something I’ve talked about before. Ace spells it out.

There Are People Who Believe They’re Napoleon, Too

Still trying to turn enemies into friends;

On Tuesday in the Legislature, the Saskatchewan Party government introduced the Saskatchewan Human Rights Code Amendment Act 2014. If passed, it will prohibit discrimination based on gender identity.
“There are a lot of trans and queer people in our province who have worked hard to see this happen,” said Craig Friesen, co-ordinator of the Pride Centre at the University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union. “If the proposed changes are passed, this will be a monumental day for all of us.” Rachel Loewen Walker, executive director of Avenue Community Centre, met with the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission this past spring to push for the change, among others.

David Cameron’s Britain

Where the foxes caper unmolested, the government packs your school lunch and Ebola holds out a last, faint promise;

I have no idea what it is like to be stateless; but I get a nasty feeling that this may not be the case for much longer. I am an Englishman but watching the decline of my country from within I have been tempted for many years to denounce any form of allegiance to a nation which has become voluntarily powerless to defend any aspect of itself.

Free Lorrie Steeves!

The Black Rod;

Gord Steeves has suddenly been propelled into being the frontrunner in Winnipeg’s mayoral race. And it’s not for something he said or did. He can thank his wife for the push.
What? What are you talking about? The MSM says his campaign is finished because of a four-year-old Facebook post by his wife complaining about being harrassed by “drunk native guys.”
Hardly.
Because EVERYBODY KNOWS IT’S TRUE!
[…]
The news media discovered through the various methods of instant feedback (Twitter, Internet comments, Facebook) that there was little sympathy for the drunk native guys in the story.
CBC, for example, had 311 comments on their Steeves story, ten-to-one in his favour, before they closed off comments.
