The Sound Of All Hell Breaking Loose, JGL Edition

Editor's note: for as much attention as the emails have received - and they are damning - it's the computer code that is revealing the real story behind the climate models. It includes corrupted and incomplete data, data manufacture and manipulation. programming failure, and program bias. The details are too lengthy and complex to include in this round-up post, but no commentary on this scandal is complete without a thorough examination of what is being uncovered in the CRU computer code files and documentation.

John Gormley Live and SDA - doing the job the CBC won't do! (link fixed) Segment here.

Found out 2 things while listening to Gormley Live, first of all water rates are going up in Saskatchewan because get this ... They're not using enough water! And secondly, they use as much, if not more time advertising garbage as do the stations in the lower mainland. Advertising what, combines, harrows, binder twine and the likes? No, on line dating etc.. Couldn't find, or didn't have the patience to to wait for the story advertised here, or more likely, was technologically challenged in trying to do so.

Rent seeking frauds.

Some excerpts from the leaked emails:

The University of Arizona's Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research's Gary Funkhouser, to Keith Briffa:

"I really wish I could be more positive about the Kyrgyzstan material, but I swear I pulled every trick out of my sleeve trying to milk something out of that..."

Michael Mann, the originator of the now thoroughly-discredited "hockey stick" graph Michael Mann, to Phil Jones:

"Trust that I'm certainly on board w/ you that we're all working towards a common goal. That is what is distressing about commentaries (sic) (yours from last year, and potentially, without us having had approprimate (sic) input, Keith and Tim's now) that appear to 'divide and conquer'. The skeptics happily took your commentary last year as reason to doubt our results! In fact, your piece was references in several commentaries (mostly on the WEB, not published) attacking our work. So THAT is what this is all about. It is in the NAME of the common effort we're all engaged in..."

Phil Jones to Gavin Smith:

"Your final sentence...about improvements in reviewing and traceability is a bit of a hostage to fortune. The skeptics will try to hang on to something, but I don't want to give them something clearly tangible. Keith/Tim still getting (Freedom Of Information) requests as well as MOHC and Reading. All our FOI officers have been in discussions and are now using the same exceptions not to respond —advice they got from the Information Commissioner....The FOI line we're all using is this: IPCC is exempt from any countries (sic) FOI—the skeptics have been told this. Even though we (MOHC, CRU/UEA) possibly hold relevant info the IPCC is not part our remit (mission statement, aims etc) therefore we don't have an obligation to pass it on.

The first lawsuit . . . maybe the CBC can report this. They love it when the big bad government gets sued.

'Chris Horner writing for The Americn Spectator reports that the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) has filed a lawsuit against NASA and Goddard Space Center demanding information they've withheld for three years:

Today, on behalf of the Competitive Enterprise Institute, I filed three Notices of Intent to File Suit against NASA and its Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), for those bodies' refusal - for nearly three years - to provide documents requested under the Freedom of Information Act.

The information sought is directly relevant to the exploding "ClimateGate" scandal revealing document destruction, coordinated efforts in the U.S. and UK to avoid complying with both countries' freedom of information laws, and apparent and widespread intent to defraud at the highest levels of international climate science bodies. Numerous informed commenters had alleged such behavior for years, all of which appears to be affirmed by leaked emails, computer codes and other data from the Climatic Research Unit of the UK's East Anglia University.

All of that material and that sought for years by CEI go to the heart of the scientific claims and campaign underpinning the Kyoto Protocol, its planned successor treaty, "cap-and-trade" legislation and the EPA's threatened regulatory campaign to impose similar measures through the back door."

You have no idea the heat I've taken on this file and the personal price I've paid. That said before everyone gets too twisted you need to understand that this MO (pushing BS) is the STANDARD in most academic/bureaucratic disciplines.

Modern medicine vs traditional wellness. Nuclear industry vs cold fusion. Austrian economists vs Keynsians. Fiat currency vs gold standard. Deficit financing vs belt tightening. The war on drugs vs free choice and sovereign property rights over your body. Wall St. vs Main St. and on and on....

Bogus science is and has been used almost forever to provide advantage to insiders and to handicap outsiders. The AGW fraud is only a symptom of the widespread disease of scientific fraud.

The net of all this is best summed up by Antoine Bechamp's (contemporary of Pasteur, kind of a Tim Ball of medicine) famous line "The map is not the terrain". Bottom feeders long ago discovered that most homo sapiens have yet to figure that out and the creation of maps, which are merely modern versions of the medievel "crystal shperes" of celestial mechanics, is just as profitable today for maintaining the status quo as it was in the 1400s

A truculent and nasty manner
Obama’s Science Czar John Holdren involved in unwinding “Climategate” scandal

By Dr. Tim Ball and Judi McLeod Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Lift up a rock and another snake comes slithering out from the ongoing University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit (CRU) scandal, now riding as “Climategate”.

Obama Science Czar John Holdren is directly involved in CRU’s unfolding Climategate scandal. In fact, according to files released by a CEU hacker or whistleblower, Holdren is involved in what Canada Free Press (CFP) columnist Canadian climatologist Dr. Tim Ball terms “a truculent and nasty manner that provides a brief demonstration of his lack of understanding, commitment on faith and willingness to ridicule and bully people”.

“The files contain so much material that it is going to take some time t o put it all in context,” says Ball. “However, enough is already known to underscore their explosive nature. It is already clear the entire claims and positions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are based on falsified manipulated material and is therefore completely compromised.

“The fallout will be extensive as material continues to emerge. Reputations of the scientists involved are already destroyed, however fringe players will continue to be identified and their reputations destroyed or sullied.”

While the mainstream media is bending into pretzels to keep the scandal under the rug, Climategate is already the biggest scientific scandal in history because of the global policy implications.

A throwback to the intro of the television series Dragnet, “Ladies and Gentlemen: “The story you are about to hear is true, only the names have been changed to protect the innocent”, the innocent in Climategate have already been thrown to the ravening wolves.

Posted by: Bruce at November 24, 2009 2:37 PM

From the Cororan link:

"Another new paper by NCAR’s James Hurrell and others in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society reviews the “profound gaps,” “compromises,” “errors” and general failures and inadequacies in existing climate models. He calls for massive increases in computer power to resolve the issues. How much power? Scientists at the World Climate Conference in September, where the science gaps were explored, endorsed an earlier recommendation. “There is a compelling need for dedicated computational facilities that are 1,000 times to 10,000 times more powerful than available today.”"

Ok, so I spent about 2 hours looking at The Harry_Read_Me.txt. Can't really see how getting getting bigger shovels helps much ... unless, of course, if Ghia has demanded this before she reads those peer-reviewed papers.

Posted by: Bruce at November 24, 2009 2:39 PM

Junk Science is reporting this

Update: It has become fairly obvious this archive was not "hacked" or "stolen" but rather is a file assembled by CRU staff in preparation for complying with a freedom of information request. Whether it was carelessly left in a publicly accessible portion of the CRU computer system or was "leaked" by staff believing the FOIA request was improperly rejected may never be known but is not really that important. What is important is that:

1.There was no "security breach" at CRU that "stole" these files
2.The files appear genuine and to have been prepared by CRU staff, not edited by malicious hackers
3.The information was accidentally or deliberately released by CRU staff
4.Selection criteria appears to be compliance with an or several FOIA request(s)

Posted by: Kevin at November 24, 2009 2:39 PM

You can understand that many of the "believers" are going to have trouble accepting the the "deniers" were right and they were wrong and thus it will take a few days for them fess up.

But, when they do get over their embarrassment of being fooled, shouldn't they be elated with joy to find out the World isn't ending? Isn't this like finding out that the doctors deliberately lied and you don't really have terminal cancer? Shouldn't people be furious those who fooled them rather than at those who tried to tell them the truth?
Lots of questions yet to be answered.

Letter submitted to my MP posted below. Others may feel free to use, amend or edit for their own purposes.

Good afternoon, Mr. Kamp,

I write to you today in follow up to my two earlier communiqués, dated August 14th, and April 18th, both on the subject of Man Made Global Warming (hereafter referred to as AGW).

As no doubt your government is aware, a major story has been unfolding with respect to leaked information from the Climate Research Centre (CRU). Please note, my August letter to you was also on the topic of scientific "shenanigans" perpetrated by the CRU.

Now, it turns out, the leaked information proves beyond doubt that the CRU has been a cesspool of poor data, bad science, and a source of thuggery and intimidation against those who challenged the alarmist AGW dogma. As stated in my August letter, the CRU is one of the primary sources of information that the IPCC relies upon with respect to global warming (climate change, or whatever the meme of the month might be).

I write today for a couple of reasons.

1. This scandal out of the CRU provides a solid basis for the government of Canada to take no action at the upcoming conference at Copenhagen. Ideally, I would like to see Canada boycott the conference altogether. In any event, those of us who have for years doubted the claims of the AGW doom-mongers are now being vindicated. No policy, tax, energy, or otherwise, should be implemented based on this fraud.

2. Eliminate the CBC subsidy. This is a final straw for me. The public broadcaster has completely ignored this story since it broke last Thursday (four days ago). The CBC has long been a shill for anything pro-AGW, and has never provided fair and reasonable balance in the debate. However, to completely ignore this important and developing story clearly demonstrates that the CBC news department is anything but. It would be more clearly described as a propaganda instrument, promoting whatever progressive cause of the day is in vogue. I resent my tax dollars being used to prop up a fraud-supporting propaganda agency.

Thank you for your time.

Most of the British and American MSM (including the Guardian and CNN) have stories on this, some of them even somewhat objective. Canwest in Canada has some stories.

CBC and CTV-Globemedia are becoming Canada's Bobbsey Twins of Climategate denial. The omission is becoming so glaringly obvious, especially in light of moves by the U.S. senate, that it is scarcely believable.

It is a measure of the seamless integration of the climate alarmists and the journalists of CBC and CTV-Globemedia.

But it's hard not to empathize. Knowing one has been used is never fun.

TD Bank and Liberal Frank McKenna on Belmont Club?

No, but, here's Liberal McKenna's Green Machine*.

"The Big Green Machine

Tim Flannery, chairman of the Copehagen Climate Council says the publication of documents taken from the British CRU suggesting some global warming data may have been manipulated only “reveals the depth to which climate skeptics will go to influence the course of events. … It does nothing to throw doubt on the climate science”. It is the last act of desperation by heretics standing in the way of the big green doctrine. But the main response to suspcions that the whole thing has been cooked up has been to simply ignore criticism and focus on enacting new taxes and obtaining further pledges. Efforts to place the world under a Green Framework are well underway and nothing is going to stop it now. Next stop: Copenhagen. The AFP reports:

the United States is to announce concrete targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions as pressure mounts on polluters to find a formula for success two weeks ahead of a crucial climate summit. …

An emissions target from the United States, the world’s number two polluter and wealthiest country, was essential for the success of the conference, according to United Nations climate chief Yvo de Boer. “The key issue here at the moment is the United States. My sense is Obama will be in a position to come to Copenhagen with a target and a financial contribution,” he said in Brussels on Monday.

The sole roadblock may be the American voter. The global warmists privately fear that the US Congress will stand in the way of providing any real teeth to the whatever concessions the Obama delegation is prepared to make at the Danish capital. The Americas Society held a public discussion attended by a number of insiders to assess what would happen next. According to Rubén Kraiem of Covington & Burling the Green allies in the US Congress had best push through the needed measures before 2010 because the prospects of success after the elections are small." Canadian MSM - totally silent on the corrupt AGW scam but interestingly so are the two large Canadian news aggregators.

The deafening silence is the same professional muteness that enabled the corrupt Chretien /Martin Liberal government to rob the Canadian taxpayers for a decade with lucre stuffed brown envelopes in Quebec, for a decade.

Rutherford out of Calgary was interviewing an Alberta minister about this.

Although he and Adler are going hard on this and good for them, I'd like somebody to answer these questions:

The emails have revealed the CPU was attempting to adjust data to expectations of the IPCC, which included tactics to those who demand a credible peer review. If you follow the money, what would be the United Nations' motivation to use falsified data?

Whose credibility is more damaged — the CPU or the United Nations? Will the UN dare throw the CPU under the bus and if they do not stand for the pursuit of truth, will they throw the CPU under the bus?

They controlled the content but people get to rate yes or no. The rational came out to play to-day. Comments supporting AGW and the e-mails being a plot weren't doing well when I was there. Sample comment from Belmont Club cited above.

"3. Mongoose:

To state the obvious: This will be the first “target” among many. The object is to suck America dry and then leave her starving by the side of the road. What in heaven’s name did we undertake the long and hard travail of WW2 and the Cold War for? Just who “won” in the end?

Seriously, We must reach a watershed moment where the left is called out on their designs across the board and they are rejected, marginalized or jailed.

This “international consensus” of “climate change” power players cannot even add up to 3 million people, useful idiots aside. At their core, I bet they are less than 100k. It should be easy to crush them.

We must get past the illusion that they have the power over us we imagine that they do. No longer can we pussyfoot around with the left, international or otherwise. This has to stop. They now strike at our very hearts. “Environmental target” will ruin us. Letting foreign powers “set targets” is treason pure and simple. In a same world, this would be grounds for impeachment. It would be grounds for imprisonment.

What is wrong with the citizens of this Nation? Why are we so supine before such immoral and incompetent lunatics whose evil designs are so clear and transparent.

It just is beyond belief. The sheer insanity of it. The sheer stupidity of it.

This nation, this civilization, is being destroyed by a pack of spoiled, ill-educated, boomer brats who have not had so much as one productive hour in their lives. They could not successfully run a hotdog stand in Times Square if they had the only one in all of New York City. And ho they do hate us. How they just lust to destroy her. It is like watching a gang rape.

Obama is repeating what has gone on in the EU the last 15 years, and with disastrous results there. The tranzis are doubling down and going for broke.

It has nothing to do with “the environment” and everything to do with destroying the one impediment to their design of a new dark age where all live in slavery and poverty but themselves: The free p[eople of America. What monsters these people are."

One thing that's unsettling is that many of the assigned WMo codes for Canadian stations do not return any hits with a web search. OTTAWA (Dow Jones)--The Canadian government announced funding Tuesday for the construction of the world's largest carbon-capture and storage pipeline in Alberta, the center of Canada's emissions-heavy oil sands industry.

The Canadian and Alberta governments pledged a total of C$558 million (US$528.1 million) to create the Alberta Carbon Trunk Line, a 240-kilometer pipeline beginning near Edmonton, Alberta, that will capture emissions from the energy industry and pump them beneath old oil fields for the dual purpose of re-pressurizing the declining fields and to prevent the emissions, seen as a key contributor to global warming, from entering the atmosphere."

I write statistical / mathematical software for a living. I'm faced with many of the same issues that climate researcher are faced with.

Software written by researchers is generally a horrendous mess, with little regard for basic software engineering methods. It sounds like the CRU is afflicted with this disease.

As an example, a programmer might keep trying to "fix" new software until it gives him the "expected" results, at which point he declares the software to be working. It doesn't really mean the software is working, of cousre, it only means that he has reinforced his own expectations.

If software is to be used for drawing scientific conclusions that have massive impact on us all, then the software must be written to the highest standards and be open to the public.

Posted by: mojo at November 25, 2009 10:35 AM

Scientific method made easy:
(can't remember where I got this a while back)

Science is the process of crash testing ideas: a scientist does not coddle an idea, or design tests to make it work.
The scientist rams the idea into a brick wall head-on at 80mph, and knowledge is gained by examining the pieces.
If the theory is solid, the pieces are from the wall.

The AGW Alarmists hid their science from the world and produced nothing but claims based on rigged data sets which all can now see are not only deeply flawed, but methodologically unscientific.

Posted by: Oz at November 25, 2009 10:37 AM

There are those who seek the truth and those who hide or obfuscate. Note the contrast.

From a PDF document entitled “Einstein’s Mistakes”

“…..for those of us who have made our share of scientific errors, it is mildly consoling to note that even Einstein made mistakes. Perhaps most important, by showing that we are aware of mistakes made by even the greatest scientists, we set a good example to those who follow other supposed paths to truth. We recognize that our most important forerunners were not prophets whose writings must be studied as infallible guides – they were simply great men and women who prepared the ground for the better understandings we have now achieved.”

From a Phil; Jone leaked email
… Even if WMO agrees, I will still not pass on the data. We have 25 or so years invested in the work. Why should I make the data available to you, when your aim is to try and find something wrong with it. …

AGW doesn't have to be refuted, it's been cooling for 11 years.
The theory, the computer models, predicted the temperature would climb from 1998 onwards.

We skeptics represent the status quo, that there IS NO ANTHROPOGENIC GLOBAL WARMING.

They have to make the case for change from the status quo.

We get to sit back and punch holes in the Alarmist case.
The Alarmists have failed to make their case, and now we see their data, the data they've been hiding for years, the base data that the whole alarm is predicated on, is FUBAR.

Posted by: Oz at November 25, 2009 11:18 AM

No, T, what is happening is that the genius' at the MSM are back down in their rabbit holes, hoping for a miracle - that somehow, somebody in the IPCC or the climate 'science' community provides them a spin that will rescue the whole mess.

In the meantime, if they don't keep quiet, they will prematurely influence the body politic.

It's just a waiting game. Eventually, the MSM will be forced to say something about this huge CRIME.

I will remind the 'professional' journalists out there that the virus is out there and thriving, and I am not talking about H1N1. These 'professional' journalists would do well to remember the Obama Joker poster phenomenon. Only this time, no joking is involved.

The MSM is silent because it is stunned, and not yet found a spin that it thinks will pull this turd back out of the AGW punchbowl.

John Gormley was great too - it's nice to hear a host who doesn't feel compelled to cut his guests off halfway through every sentence. Too bad we can't get him in Alberta.

I'm actually surprised by the lack of coverage in the news (as opposed to opinion) media, including the WSJ and the National Post. I'd really love to be a fly on the wall during editors' meetings to find out why they're making the decision to avoid the story. We're talking about potentially trillions of dollars over the next ten or twenty years, and a massive slowdown of economic growth based on fraudulent science. In what alternate universe is this not an enormously important news story?

Watched The National last night. Top story? Drop-side cribs. Six and a half minutes. Literally, six and a half minutes, top of the hour, on the dangers of drop-side cribs, followed by two attack stories on the Conservatives - the torture issue, and the New Brunswick MP's comments about Halifax bums, - and then a dog's breakfast of stories about various and sundry, but nothing about Warmergate. There was a story about some researchers who went to the South Pole to measure ice thickness: as the word "South Pole" was pronounced, the onscreen image was a shot of an expanse of water with giant fractured chunks of sea ice floating around.

At the South the elevated middle of the *continent* of Antarctica.

Al Gore was on Canada AM this morning. He's plugging a new book. He claims that climate change is already affecting people around the world. Technically, he's correct. When most of Africa became uninhabitable, around 400,000 years ago, people were forced to migrate to the ends of the earth. That process is still taking place, so really, you can't accuse Gore of outright lying.

When it comes to mechanical processes, which are at the center of this theory, I'll put my trust in the opinions of physicists, not climate scientists. Thousands of physicists have signed a well known petition against government intervention in this AGW movement. I've seen the link somewhere above. It's worth having a look. Edward Teller signed it. Not an opinion I'd take lightly.

Its not just the MSM.
Years ago I felt privileged to read Scientific American and National Geographic; you know, the enlightened periodicals used for informed discussion by the layman who was intellectually inquisitive.
I was reduced to mentally vomiting years ago when I realized these "mags" had not only drunk the AGW koolaid but had learned nothing from the pending "ice age" scenario they had succumbed to.
The advertising space said it all.
(waiting at an airport last week I picked up a SA and resisted the urge to tear it up in the store for security reasons. I needed to get that flight.)
There was never an analysis of how they got that wrong. Just a quiet move on mentality. They let me down again with this latest suppression of informed dissent.

This situation reminds me of someone who bought a used BMW. While they owned it it was the greatest thing they ever had. That is until they sold it, three months had passed and they had drank quite a bit of white wine. Only then did they tell me what a POS it was and how much they dumped into it and what they got for it.
They wouldn't tell the truth about it because they had to offload it to someone just like them to get some of their money back.

Denile is not just a river in Egypt. (Yes I know its denial )

I am confused. Tree ring data as a proxy for warming? Ok, so tree rings are bigger when it's warmer because there is more growth, that's a nice theory. But apparently the recent tree ring growth doesn't match up so well to temperature. So for periods when we have no data for temperature we use tree rings as a proxy, but for the period where we do have temperature data the tree ring data doesn't match so well, Hmm. Could it be that the rings are big now not because the temperature is warmer but because there is **gasp** more Carbon Dioxide available for plants? Maybe, just maybe, the tree rings aren't so much a proxy for temperature as they are a proxy for CO2 concentration. I don't know, I'm not a plant scientist or a paleoclimatoligist but I am concerned that some scientists with minimal understanding of plant science are using plants as temperature proxies.

I agree. I'm waiting for them to say the data exposed is "the unverified old stuff which is no longer used" and they have "debugged it all and that is what is being used today", "nothing to see here move along".

Goreacle Report: AGW is now in O’denial phase.

Next* the O’phase:

“*This is his [AGW's] sole legacy: a massive post-traumatic stress disorder.”

“RealClimate AGW site can’t stand the heat…Comments section turned off!!

146.Comments are now turned off. Unfortunately, the comments are now running about 10:1 insults and innuendo. Serious discussion seems to have largely died off. The last couple of posters did raise some reasonable questions, and I will respond to them after Thanksgiving. Meanwhile happy Thanksgiving to all the American readers (and to everyone else, for that matter).–Eric

I have been monitoring the blog which is prominently mentioned in the East Anglia U email scandal. RealClimate was set up as a ‘rapid response’ site by the same ’scientists’ who are cooked the data and are trying to force feed CO2 reductions onto the world.

After the scandal broke, they were out right away decrying the criminal ‘hacking’ of the emails. Then they moved on to defending the ‘poorly worded’ emails by the scientists who gave us AGW theory. Yesterday they moved on to touting the ‘Copenhagen Diagnosis’ which is the alarmist view of icecaps melting, the seas rising, and the world baking.

Today they turned the comments off because they are out of BS and the ‘questions’ about the Copenhagen Diagnosis are getting very specific and they have no answers.”

The O’phase:

“The “small people”, the “rank and file”, the “loyal soldiers” of the narcissist – his flock, his nation, his employees – they pay the price. The disillusionment and disenchantment are agonizing. The process of reconstruction, of rising from the ashes, of overcoming the trauma of having been deceived, exploited and manipulated – is drawn-out. It is difficult to trust again, to have faith, to love, to be led, to collaborate. Feelings of shame and guilt engulf the erstwhile followers of the narcissist. This is his sole legacy: a massive post-traumatic stress disorder.”

Well it's settled! the Science is in! There is no
for any further discussion, A.G.W. is a gigantic fraud in which the MSM has played Pimp for the Greenies. There are no suprises here, Earth day being Lenin's birthday. Good for Fox News. Time to gut CBC PM Harper.
Cheers Bubba

"What gives? I presume they're published out of the same building...."

What gives is that while the MSM is quite comfortable manipulating the "news" (steering things in a particular direction as did the CRU scientists), they do not yet have the nerve to censor a columnist. They would surely get caught out if they were doing that. They will get caught out anyway, because lack of coverage of a hot story that so many people know about already makes them look dishonest and unaccountable.

"Copenhagen will be a negotiation about transferring billions of dollars of wealth from the developed world to the developing one, with no guarantees it will help the planet."

From Goldstein's column at The Sun.

I have one small disagreement with the author; the wealth is to be transferred from "developed" nations,to stagnant Nations, not "developing" Nations.

And with the new found wealth, read "bribes", the leaders of those Nations are not likely to develop any industry or educational facilities,as an educated electorate would quickly turf THEM out on their corrupt ears.

Damned good work,Kate. Thank you for all your efforts to expose AGW for the scam it IS.

"Wow. I tried to listen to the Gore/Suzuki/Gomeshi love-fest on CBC Radio One's The Q." --

Did anyone else listen to this? I am wondering if there was any addressing the CRU issue. If not, Gomeshi must be VERY embarrassed. To be honest, I did not have the stomach to listen to this -- having once before listed to a CBC "phone in" re official bilingualism -- calls were heavily censored so it was totally saccharin and manipulative.

Late to the party though I am, I will say that this should be everywhere. Forget what Michelle Obama is wearing or the cellophane Lady Gaga wrapped around her head. These lies have been the source of crippling policies. These scientists should be made to answer for what they did. So how about it, Mr. Gore?

One can hope that the Conservative Party of Canada doesn't use global warming as an excuse to raise taxes...ummm...too late.

I wonder what other countries are doing...

Battered Turnbull put on notice
November 26, 2009

MALCOLM Turnbull is likely to face further destabilisation over summer after staring down his critics yesterday and narrowly defeating a move to put his leadership to a vote.

In another day of turmoil for the Liberals, Mr Turnbull fended off a move for a leadership spill by 48 votes to 35 - a close result that would have been reversed if seven MPs had voted the other way.

Some sources are now predicting that Victorian Liberal Andrew Robb, who dealt a devastating blow to Mr Turnbull on Tuesday when he turned against doing a deal on emissions trading, may seek to position himself early next year as a ''safe pair of hands'' alternative leader.

In a further show of disunity yesterday, three shadow parliamentary secretaries - senators Mitch Fifield, Brett Mason and Mathias Cormann - offered their resignations because they opposed the emissions trading legislation.

And 12 Liberals crossed the floor in the Senate during a series of votes related to the emissions trading bills. Despite this, Mr Turnbull now has the support of enough Liberals for the Government's scheme to be passed this week....

shaken too much @Nov. 25th 11:04AM - "The only thing you rightards can glee about is the inconsistencies in the data collection and interpretation."

Well that, and then also the outright fraud.

Kate, I'm late to say so, but you were great on Gormley.

The bottom line of AGW & 'global warming'?

China: Rich nations must cap pollution emissions
(AP) – 1 hour ago

BEIJING — China will seek binding pollution targets for developed countries and reject similar requirements for itself at an international climate summit next month, China's top climate envoy said Wednesday.

Yu Qingtai said it is unfair that all countries be required to play a role combating global warming since most of the environmental damage was caused by developed nations during their industrialization over the last 100 to 200 years...."

The good news is that this can only help delay any deals

Posted by: hardboiled at November 25, 2009 4:02 PM

Let us see now.

The 99 % of public mass media is ignoring this subject, as though it did not exist, though from past experience, it is common knowledge that the “journalists” have no time for fact checking, they only go with what is fed to them (Revkin, NYT) by the preachers on a particular subject.

Here comes Kate McMillan, doing her own research captures more facts (as far as can be known at this time) than 11 fact checkers from AP could ever do and publishes it on her own blog. Kate single handedly slaps the mass media “journalists” silly.

I would say from the distance it’s a slam dunk. An accomplishment that a
”journalist” would only dream about.

Your contribution on John Gormley was nothing short of magnificent.

MSM is busy doing dry by smears of our service memnbers, apparently heresay from a snivel servant via a possible Taliban detainee is the hot topic these days. The polical left deem heresay as the truth, poisoned the well against the truth and are happy to censor anyone who might speak the truth. If I have to read one more hatefilled post against Harper or our military members I might start bleeding from the eyes. We can't have MSM wrecking their history of ignoring real news in favour of liberal biased contrived news now can we?

"We have discovered that the warming in New Zealand

had nothing to do with emissions of CO2—it was

created by man-made adjustments of the

temperature. It’s a disgrace."
...- ...-

"Uh, oh – raw data in New Zealand tells a different story than the “official” one.

New Zealand’s NIWA accused of CRU-style temperature faking

The New Zealand Government’s chief climate advisory unit NIWA is under fire for allegedly massaging raw climate data to show a global warming trend that wasn’t there.

The scandal breaks as fears grow worldwide that corruption of climate science is not confined to just Britain’s CRU climate research centre."

Kate - I'm speechless - fantastic work.

"The New Zealand Government’s chief climate advisory unit NIWA is under fire for allegedly massaging raw climate data to show a global warming trend that wasn’t there."

Canada needs to rethink their position based on the facts coming out about the science. Given there are claims that the data has been altered changing the outcome we need to take a step back before going forward.

I have always stated “to ensure that proper science and not the court of public opinion governs good environmental stewardship and policy development”

We need to ensure that the environmental policies of tomorrow are not developed today through conjecture and hearsay.

On a lighter note

We have been given a powerful tool in the form of GlimateGate.
It now has a name and has the potential to get a life of its own.
So if the mains stream media is not going to report on this then let us use the social Facebook and emails to spread the news.
Send the following two YouTube videos to two people that you know and ask them to send it onto at least 2 others.

If you have a Facebook page post the two links.
