    1. Some folks following the unravelling of Syrian defence (offence?) tech are saying the entirety of Syria’s air power, the jets, large airplanes, helicopters, the missiles and related bomb and armament making capacity has all been destroyed by IDF in the past couple of days.

      I don’t know if that’ll slow what comes next but, there are related videos on X/Twitter reporting on some women folk not being permitted to exit their homes without the coverings and related garb as witnessed in Afghanistan. I expect the worst, and would only be surprised if those old prisons which were emptied by the new bosses, weren’t filled by new enemies of the new bosses in short order.

      1. I don’t know if it is the entirety, but IDF has been busy for the last two nights. Also US forces conducted multiple missions. It is a classic example of “from the frying pan and straight into the fire”. HTS is ISIS which in turn is Al-Queda. So while the fall of Hezbollah sugar daddy and Pootin’s fellator Assad is a good thing. And while cutting Iran’s direct route to Lebanon is also good. The new boss is probably as bad as the old boss. Christians, Yazidi, Druze and Kurds may not fare well under the new rule.

      Russia was not ever promised NATO wouldnt expand. Even Gorbachev agreed:

        1. The supposed promise was made around 1989. Gorbachevs opinion is far more relevant than yours, mine, or Putins.

          1. Considering that Putin is a key player in what’s going on in Ukraine his opinion is extremely relevant. It’s idiotic to claim otherwise.

          2. The revisionist history started in 2007 under Putin. Gorbachev was there during the Germany negotiations, Putin was not.

            Either Putin is an idiot or a liar. Considering how much he has lied about other things, I put him in the latter category.

    4. Every country that joined NATO did so out of fear of russia. Those that did not now have russian for(es occupying parts of their territory (Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova). Russia does not get to decide the fate of russian neighbors. Russia gets to FOAD.

    2. Two municipal elections ago, I was working one as a recording clerk. They needed more people so a woman engineer from City Hall was drafted to work with me. She had immigrated from Uzbekistan 10 years previously with refugee status. During one of the lulls, she was complaining to me that she wanted to go back to Uzbekistan to visit relatives but the government basically told her to “FO, eat shit and die!”. They had found out that she had bad mouthed their country in order to get refugee status and them citizenship in Canada. They wanted nothing to do with her. I told her that I agreed with the government of Uzbekistan. She did not like that and refused to talk to me anymore. NO loss!

    In Canada, I have seen immigrant parents let into Canada with multiple deformed children as the result of first cousin marriages, and we get to pay their medical costs even though the Immigration Act says those who would be an undue burden to the healthcare system are ineligible for entry to Canada. This has been going on for decades, including under Harper’s Minister of Immigration, Jason Kenney.
