  7. The Canadian Press reported today that the Arctic could be ice-free “for months at a time” as early as 2030, due to increased warming, even if humanity reduces its greenhouse gas emissions. This estimate is much sooner than the previous estimate of 2013 which was in need of revision.

Nothing on the TV last night … so the wife and I watched the first two installments of “Shiny Happy People” … the Amazon TAKE DOWN of the whole Duggar (19 kids and counting) Family … due to the “cover up” of their 14 yo son who inappropriately touched two of his sisters who were like 12 and 10 at the time. Something I’d call normal adolescent curiosity about sex. A little creepy when it’s incestual … but they’re all just kids … frankly doing what most normal kids do. Be honest. And I’m not defending Josh Duggar … it appears he’s a bit of a sex addict. But in our culture of mass sexuality … I find it humorous that the left are going AFTER Josh Duggar because he likes sex. Yes, with women … not kids … primarily. Hey! He was caught on Ashley Madison, fer Christ’s sake. Yeah, creepy and scummy … not my cup of tea … but behaves JUST LIKE the leftists who feign outrage.

    But the actual content of the first two episodes was a full throated attack on the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) and its “now disgraced” leader, Bill Gothard. They also attacked home schooling … claiming all home schooling is being done by crazed FUNDIE Christians who use severe corporal punishment to abuse their kids. And that home schools make their kids ignorant, by teaching them creation and other religious myths. Funny thing … they fail to mention that home schooled kids are far superior academically than most public school kids. The show illustrated ollllld printed IBLP teaching materials as though all home schoolers are teaching ONLY from these pamphlets. Note to show producers: There’s a thing called the internet … and ALL home schoolers are on it. Gawwd.

    I am a Christian who was “born again” (as they say) in the early 1970’s … at the same time Bill Gothard and his institute was a thing. I came to Christ when The Jesus Freak movement was in full swing. When Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar we’re playing on Broadway to rave reviews. I am a PROUD “Jesus Freak”. I am not now, nor ever have been a fundamentalist Christian. My wife actually went to Gothard’s seminar. I didn’t. And I didn’t particularly appreciate the Bill Gothard fundamentalist wing of Christianity. I wasn’t fond of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes either. But that differing belief never made me want to act like a Muslim and DESTROY these FUNDIE “apostates”. Differing beliefs … even within Christianity can live and let live. Bill Gothard never FORCED anyone to use “preferred pronouns” … or anything else.

    This program just oozes with Christian HATE. The creepy looking, mentally damaged people they’ve found to recount the horror … the horror … of the IBLP and Bill Gothard sound like disgruntled former employees who have been “conversion therapied” out of Christianity. Mmmm … Okay. Go worship Satan or Gaia … knock yourselves out. I don’t care. But that’s not enough for these HATERS … they just seethe and spittle out their contempt for Christians, discipline, order and organization, and … happiness. They claim the Happy family wasn’t really happy. All I discovered from the show is that the HATERS they found to interview are the MOST unhappy people I’ve ever seen. I feel sad for them … but don’t blame Bill Gothard or The Duggars for their misery. They’re simply miserable people … saying miserable things that are utter nonsense.

    I won’t be watching any more of this leftist … and literally Satanic attack on the Duggars and the people they associate with. This show is the leftists counterpoint to Christian claims of LGBTQq2sAI+/- … “grooming”. This show attempts to claim that Christians are “grooming” children. The difference is … that the Queers are INSTITUTIONALIZING their grooming through the POWER of government schools … but no one was FORCED to attend a Bill Gothard seminar … or watch a POPULAR reality TV show.
