  1. When Biden claims a democratically elected (!) leader of another nation is a threat to democracy, he owes the world a detailed explanation of why he thinks that.

Otherwise he’s just interfering with the politics of another nation.

It makes me wonder what he will say should Poilievre becomes Prime Minister.

    1. Authentic question, as I read that article and went hmm. Would the ‘experts ‘ be able to tell from the damage the direction of energy applied? Pipeline bent out, internal explosions. Pipeline bent inward, external source. Your opinion valued.

    2. I can tell you that is a ridiculous theory ..
Been in offshore subsea contraction 30 years .. makes me laugh..
But can tell you with almost certainly it will never be repaired.. the exposure of the interior to seawater will cause extensive corrosion .. it is not designed to be exposed to sea water..
Comments on the who and why is for another day

This was not an accident .. not a chance..

      1. Baltic…

Yep, yep n most definitely Not an accident. Said sections of this pipeline that are submerged..?? Beyond repairing, even if they could. Not sure of the diam. But thinking 36″ or larger…with the OD covered in a skin of likely at least an inch of concrete.. At a depth of some 250-300’…repair..??

Never gonna happen… I could see the underwater section replaced..but repaired…?? not a hope simply due to logistics, time & working at 300′ below the surface, let alone salt water corrosion.

        100% write off.

    3. Pull the other one Robert. This occured in two diferent pipelines almost simulatneously. Anyon not understand it was the Yanks needs their reality tested.

      1. “Pull the other one Robert. This occured in two diferent pipelines almost simulatneously. Anyon not understand it was the Yanks needs their reality tested.”

Or the Chinese? They also stand to benefit greatly from this.

      2. Foolish argument.

Incredibly busy and highly monitored piece of ocean.
If you are intentionally sabotaging multiple pipelines AND HOPING TO GET AWAY WITH IT , you do not set one charge off and then wait until the whole world is focused on those pipes with every piece of monitoring equipment (including RF scanners) with the potential that someone finds your device and has proof , not just suspicion.

The conspiracy-theorists forget a couple of things.
The first is the risk of getting caught. Consequences include a potential impeachment of Biden for giving an illegal order to attack the infrastructure and supply of a friendly allied country.
The second is that their argument revolves around Germany being on the edge of collapse and ready to surrender. The German government’s own reports are that their storages are nearly full, and they anticipate being able to get through the winter with some restrictions. They haven’t even brought in any mandatory restrictions yet, and if they were , they would be. SCHNELL!
With the Germans not even being close to surrender, the narrative regarding advantage to America, collapses.

The narrative that the Russians are desperate for the money in the short term, also collapses when you look at their actions re the Ukraine pipeline. Gazprom owes contracted fees to Ukraine for gas passing through their territory. Ukraine has asked for payment and Gazprom is refusing and threatening to stop pumping rather that submit the case to independent arbitration as Ukraine requested. Meeting your contracts and paying your debts is one of those pesky “Western” values that Putin rails against…. but you can’t look at that and argue that Putin feels the need for Euros. Winning is more important to him that the wealth of his people.

    4. The 17 hours apart argument (for and accident) is ridiculous. The bombing of the pipeline was via remote controlled charges. Why 17 hours apart for the triggers to be pulled? Ask Joe Bidinh

      1. Could there be hydrate plugs in both lines? Yes. I’ve operated gas fields and several times had more than one line plugged with hydrates at the same time.

Could the Russians be depressurizing both lines at the same time? Yes

Could it have been sabotage? Yes

How to determine the cause? To start, we need to see the sea bottom videos of the pipeline leak site.

Number of leaks? I believe the Swedes reported a fourth leak visible on the surface.

          1. You don’t think that over 1000kg of ice travelling at (potentially) 2-300 km/hr might shake things up just a little?

      2. Joe Biden does not “pull triggers”.

IF he was to give the order, it would be passed down the line to somebody who actually has competence and experience in sneakily blowing things up. At which point, there would be a LOT of exasperated explanations as to why delaying detonations of this nature are Not. A. Good. Idea. if-you-don’t-want-to-get-found-out..

Too many people have been watching Bond films.

    5. Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence.

My theory is that they upped the pressure on both pipelines to increase flow, resulting in blowouts due to flawed manufacture or maintenance, but this explanation works too.

    6. People keep talking about “not in the Russian Interests” to have this pipeline broken. They should be reminded that the “interests” of particular Russian oligarchs, do not coincide with theRussian nation in general or the Russian people in particular.

It appears that somebody in Russia sold a LOT of Gazprom stock shortly before the kaboom.
I’m still not convinced that sabotage is the most likely cause, but it is kinda possible that one of the engineers who had been ORDERED to clear the pipe NOW, and knew what would happen, phoned a friend .

9/30 – Someone in #Russia dumped just USD $13 million in Gazprom stock and the price instantly crashed by 17%. Cleaned out all the limit buy orders down to 189.42 rubles from 231. At $80 billion market cap, that’s a $13 billion crash. #Liquidity Russian style. House of Cards.

  2. Regarding farmers, I wonder if closing down the ‘coffee shop locales’ has contributed to the malaise. As well, the high cost of entry into farming has meant much consolidation into big time operators. It can be a difficult career with just the prospect of an auction sale at the ends dismal prospect.

    1. Yeah … we should just leave all the important stuff … like farming … to Bill Gates. He’s smarter than all of us … Right? And he’s more … moral … than the rest of us … Right? And he would never eat at a greasy diner in the middle of nowhere. He’s better than that …

Goodbye humanity, if it ever comes to that

  3. There is a threat to Democrats, but not democracy. Only Democrats can reliably count the votes.

  4. Should have left the protester attached to the goal post, and allowed both teams to have every player take a practice kick shot against him

    1. … and a John Lennon lookalike? Through whose eyeglasses? Puhleeze. Comparing this common criminal to an icon of naked protesters is just absurd … as if to legitimize his protest.

    2. My thought exactly. Just make sure to tie his hands and feet so he can’t interfere and carry on with the game. And after the game, everyone go home and lock up the stadium.

  5. Farming is a very stressful occupation. You are responsible for a great deal while all circumstances are out of your control. Especially close to harvest time when the Great White Combine comes along. Or, when the crop is good and the LUB longshoreman decide they want more than their share of it.

Years ago an Australian lady came over to marry a local farmer while also writing a column in the local rag. A few years later a letter showed up informing them the farm was being foreclosed. He grabbed a knife from the kitchen and ran out the door. While running he was sawing on his throat. She managed to temporarily stop him just to have him get away and finish the job.
Does TurdHole care? Not one bit. BTW, Pierre was the PM at the time.

  6. All farmers have to do is stop delivering to major cities.

    The problem will correct itself.
