  1. Makes sense. Top scumbag Trudeau + VP scumbag Freeland have no understanding of finances, how economy/market works. So their empty heads assume that the tandem of hiring slaves for their pet dreams + printing money galore works just fine. Nothing bad will happen. Budget schmuget, who gives a crap. After all budgets balance themselves, right?

      1. Just like Papa Pierre did in 1968 the Civil Service boomed and so did the cost of Government. Incidentally let us not forget that Pierre started his political career as an NDP candidate but was bought out by Pearson to join the Libranos. Now the the Fool on the Hill makes a deal with the NDP. Same ideology, only a difference in methodology. They are enemies of Canada.

      During the winter the government employees will brush the snow off the solar panels.

      2. That was the standard playbook of the Labour Governments in the UK. Always reduce the unemployment figures by subsidizing the inefficient deadwood industries and thus helping the Union Voter base. Until the Iron Lady came along.

  10. Remember,and to the uninformed, a government employee DOES NOT PAY TAX, they are paid tax. Government’s only income is from taxes,fees and royalties. That fact is why socialism does not work over time . The only way to tax government workers is to pay them less which happens in all socialist countries.

    2. When they protest and angrily state they do pay tax, I correct them. They get some money clawed back from their pay.

    And for fun, what’s the average annual salary? The highest salary? How many of these positions also have provision for bonuses?

    1. David, your calculator has to compute to 15 digits to get there. And then, and then, how long they will be at the trough? Canada is not a country.

    2. Well, 20,000 new bureaucrats at $100,000 minimum fully loaded works out at least $2,000,000,000.00 more per year. That’s a lot more weight to the dead hand of government.

    3. Just a back of the envelope calculation, if you have better numbers please post:
      Salary, benefits at about 40%, workspace, amenities, desk, office building, etc comes to an average of $150,000 per position per year per civil service career. So the additional 20,000 comes to a cost of about $3,000,000,000. For the entire civil service of 320,000 $48 Billion
      This does not take into account the make work projects that are required when the original project slows down. Add to the difficulty of actually getting rid of anyone, you have to hire someone to do the work of the drones leading to further expansion.
      We need a revolution.

  16. And in BC the provincial govt added more than 25% FTEs to the total directly employed by the govt (ie., not including Crown Corps or govt contractors). Yeehaw. Good times ahead!
