While Alberta maintains a three-month supply of protective equipment, Reuters reported in March that Ontario let a stockpile of 55 million N95 respirator masks expire. Alberta has since sent some protective equipment to Quebec, Ontario and B.C.
On Feb. 26, Canada’s deputy chief public health officer, Dr. Howard Njoo told the House of Commons health committee that “should a province require additional support … we’re certainly able to meet that request.”

A little off topic, but has anyone stopped to consider how long the social lockdown will continue?
What happens if lockdowns last into June, or heaven forbid, even July? What happens when the residents of Toronto’s downtown, not to mention every other large city in the world, are told they must stay isolated in their tiny, sweltering, apartments and lofts?
I really don’t think the dimwits who govern us have thought this through.
There aren’t enough police in the world to keep up these lockdowns indefinitely, certainly not in my area, where I can guarantee that every single one of my neighbors has a high powered firearm, and the police have a severe fire power disadvantage.
So what happens when the downtown third world decides keeping grandma, grandpa, and the four or ten screaming tykes, inside doesn’t work anymore? Is that when we get back to normal, and come to the realization that, yes, people die, it’s a fact of life, and death, and we had better learn how to deal with it, without curtailing individual freedom, right of association, and freedom of movement.

Australian media was on top of this story over a month ago. I am pretty sure Kate had posted a link back then, but can’t find it at the moment. This is a link to a March story from the Sydney Morning Herald which describes how a large Chinese company in Sydney started buying up PPE as early as January. The story also mentions that Chinese companies had been doing the same thing in Canada.
