Carbon Tax. You are being penalized for living in Kanaduh. Ponder that for a moment. By an corrupt, inept .Gov. You’re also penalized for .gov ineptitude on COVID-19: https://edmontonjournal.com/news/national/the-road-to-canadas-covid-19-outbreak-timeline-of-federal-government-failure-at-border-to-slow-the-virus/
Remember, April 1, 2020 your Carbon Tax is going up 50% and your MP (all Parties) just got a raise. They get a better Pension than you, paid by you, office allowance, travel et al…paid by you. You’re probably out of work due to .gov ineptitude on COVD-19, while .gov workers are paid to stay at home.
Paying your tithe on June 30th or what ever “grace period” bestowed by .gov to pay up?

      1. PO’ed in AB – While you have raised many valid points I believe that people are so focused on the COVID-19 virus that they are not looking down the road to the financial tsunami that will follow.

In Ontario on April 1st the Sunshine List comes out. It is bound to set a new record in terms of number of people on the Government of Ontario’s payroll making $100K plus and the total cost of those people. That should be a wake up call. But, it won’t be. COVID-19 still rules.

When the pandemic is over Canada and every province and territory within it will have added an enormous sum to their already unmanageable debt. At some point, the suggestion will arise about a one-time 10% wealth tax to help Canada, the provinces and the territories recover. It will apply to everyone and be based on the market value of their assets. The possibility of it succeeding is higher this time than ever before.

Buffalo is looking a whole lot better every day.

    2. I have but one wish when it comes to Canada and Canadians and this is, I wish someone had courage.

      1. “I wish someone had courage”

There was a guy, last election. But only me, my wife, and a few others voted for him.

        1. I was in and donated before it could even be called a party. I knew it was futile but tried anyway.

  1. If California has its own standards, just sell the small end of the line in California. Fuel efficiency comes from making lighter and lighter pieces of gutless automotive shit. Give me an F150 with a V8. That way I will hardly notice a bump when I’m bowling for Smart Cars.

    1. Scar…think I’ll stick with 14 yr old Duramax. LBZ. EFI live
7800 lbs with solid After Market 3/16″ steel bumpers front n back.
      21mpg at 124 km/hr empty
And a body still made of steel as opposed to non weldable/repairable Aluminum.
577,850 kms and runs better now than it did when I bought it.
A white tank that any Somali land pirate could love..

So someone wanna tell me why Flippin Diesel is still 90.9/Litre.??

        1. You’ve never done it, obviously. Tigging is routinely done, as is mig, but gas and stick? Extremely crude and unsatisfactory. Extremely. And aluminum welding isn’t likely a skill commonly found in body shops. People also think aluminum doesn’t rust away. It does, but it’s not called rust. When it gets salt on it, it can disappear in a hurry. I was an aircraft mechanic and worked with aluminum. Corrosion is a constant pain.

  2. A tax based on one of the biggest lies in human history, and it’s going up 50%.
To all the slavering idiots who voted for this punk. Thanks for nothing you morons.

    1. Sure is a good thing Canadians are intelligent enough not to vote for really evil people.

  3. Alberta and Saskatchewan, if their provincial governments truly find the carbon tax unacceptable, can make that part of the reason for holding a referendum on separation. By being wimps on independence, they make separation the only way to avoid becoming a failed state.

The Trudeau Liberals plan to do to control agriculture, as a variant of what they’ve done to the natural resource (energy/mining) via over-regulation/prohibition. They will do the same with health care run roughshod over provincial jurisdiction, likely using pandemics as their justification. Their is no end to federal Liberal perfidy, none.

    1. It’s what they are doing to Telecomunications that in my opinion should TERRIFY everyone.
Huawei 5G…and from what I’m seeing appears to being implemented under our noses while we sit sequestered in our homes. Telus appears to be moving ahead with it..

      Anyone elaborate..?
Connected possibly to continuing flights incoming from China.??

  4. On any utility bills that show the carbon tax, simply deduct the amount of the carbon tax on your payment. It’s time to just say “NO”. Especially given that the current legal position is that the tax is not constitutional. The feds are not operating with clean hands.

    1. Great advice until your power gets cut off for not paying your bill.
Doris from payables might be impressed with your flaccid protest but it’s not going to change anything.

      1. Just omit the carbon tax doofus, pay the rest. They’ll get the message. And yeah, they push they might find that they bit off more than they bargained for. Pay yours if you want, others might feel differently. No skin off your nose.

        1. Doris in payables will just be like, “You didn’t pay the full amount.”
If the deficit gets too large they’ll cut off your power.

          Nobody will care.

        2. PO, the government will not let them. They will be cut off at the knees faster than you can say f them.

      2. Except, as the Alberta government has stated….”Residential customers can defer electricity and natural gas bill payments for the next 90 days to ensure no one will be cut off, regardless of the service provider.” If there is a large percentage of people who don’t pay their carbon tax, the message will get through. Maybe you should know what you are talking about.

        1. This reminds of people who say, “If none of us pay are taxes, what are they going to do?! Throw us all in jail?!”

          Grow up.

          1. Jeff, I have bitched and moaned about my stupid fellow Canadians for decades. I once made the statement that if I stand against the government I would be standing alone, that still applies, cowards.

          2. Yup. There are several things people can do, but they’re all against the law. I’d say graffiti would be the most effective and the least punishable by the cops who don’t take orders.
Overpasses of major arteries and highways – despite the economic shutdown – would be effective.
Of course I don’t promote, merely point.

          3. Buddy, the lack of intelligence of the average Canadian cannot be calculated. A drug dealer in the Hamilton Ontario area was given a ticket the other day. Guess what for? He was operating an non-essential business. Now tell me, everyone who reads this blog, how screwed is that. There really are no words to describe how dumb assed stupid that is.

  5. China sends a bio weapon out into the world to wipe us out and we respond by upping a tax that makes us even less competitive with the Chinese

    1. A carbon tax should be a sales tax based on estimated CO2 generated to produce products by category from specific countries. The current carbon tax on Canadian only goods will simply tax us out of business. We will simply buy substitute goods from countries that produce a lot more CO2 to manufacture goods than we do. Result – we destroy our industry and the world produces more CO2. Trudeau is so effing stupid.

      1. There should be no carbon tax at all. But…yes…you are right. Trudeau is incredibly stupid. Probably one of the dumbest people on the face of the earth. Second only to the imbeciles who voted for him.

      2. He’s just following Soros orders. Destroy the country on the US Northern border.. Getting closer.

    2. JDN. Well by 2025 they should be in control of Canada and most of the world. Now there is something to chew on.

  6. In Canada you pay extra just to exist thanks to PM Shit-for-Brains voters.
In the US of A it pays off with jobs to vote for Trump.
In Canada elected and unelected officials are guaranteed raises.
In the US of A elected and unelected officials are guaranteed to be worried by Trump.

  7. Nobody on SDA is surprised by this! A citizenry foolish enough to vote for this drama queen twice, will get the government they deserve! From that perspective, I’m amazed we don’t have it a lot worse! I’m not religious, but I pray that one day, sigh, one day, there will be enough who wake up and turf him and his cronies out the door. Until then, we must remain vigilant to the evils and shenanigans they attempt to impose on us. Been busy of late, is he still hiding from the Wuflu? also from the wrath of those still upset by his management of the blockades, and now mishandling $80 plus billion, and devaluing the dollar by 20% or more! I just wish we could draw a line at the Manitoba border and declare a new country in the Western half. Those further east can have the option to join us, and the few over here that still want the minstrel can opt to go to the East! Then of course we would need armed guards on that new border!

    1. By the time that the CBC, Star, Global and all the rest of the Government Media get finished pumping the tires of the Second Coming, Trudeaupia may reign for 30 years.

      People aren’t getting any smarter.
And the Media isn’t getting any more honest.
And the Laurention thugs aren’t getting any more generous.

I think you should at least be able to ace a grade five test from 1899 in order to be a cabinet minister.
And obviously, recent history shows why an IQ test should be a minimum requirement for PM.

Nothing will change until we quarantine the Media.
      The Media is the virus.

      1. And obviously, recent history shows why an IQ test should be a minimum requirement for PM.

And, in Canada, there would be a threshold, above which one would be considered too smart for the job.

  8. “Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.” H.L. Menken

  9. The Spawn, thanks largely to his mentor, Butts, is not just a “believer” in green theology but as PM he sees himself as the highest priest of the land in what has become a theocracy and therefore his tax on breath and life is a sacred duty above all else. Humanity is secondary at best and at worst considered a cancer on the planet to the green clergy and their zombie followers. Given that his father raised him to be a socialist and carry on where he left off; utilizing the always corrupt and power hungry LPC as his vessel, the green robed left is now an essential brand for success (in the “democratic” demise of capitalism). It would therefore be unthinkable that the Spawn’s premier responsibility and accomplishment be seen as something expendable to ameliorate the economy, which is obviously quite expendable in his mind and by his actions.

  10. Justin is trying to save the world and everyone on here complains. 97% of university professors agree the only way to prevent the climate from changing is to tax CO2.
    The science is settled!!

    1. pp la phew – 97% of SELECTED climate scientists agree – there fixed that for you!

    2. You live fully off grid PP?.. If not why not?..The university professors would recommend you do.. They wouldn’t but you could.. Go turn off the furnace right now, and get back to us in 2 days.. Give us a believers report.. Who knows ,maybe you will convince us

  11. Politics as usual by the libranos.

No crisis is too threatening to derail idealism. Nothing will stop the agenda.

  12. The stars are aligning beautifully..for Western Independence.
Everyday the Media party trots outs the babbling Airhead for far too long.
Now when the infection spreads,we see the lies and incompetence of our government exposed in real time.
See they were so totally prepared for any pandemic that we are already short of PPE for the medical staff.
Then these same.”Totally prepared morons”are openly threatening citizens with fines and imprisonment if they violate undefined curfew..yet we just saw how well they handle blatant lawbreaking with the phoney rail blockades.
    Respect my authority!

Canadian, especially those who blindly trusted institutional government, are getting a real education.
And with no diversion due to the shutdown of sports, those wilfully “nonpolitical” citizens are getting nervous, soon enough full blown panic.
Shame the politicians chose to lie, bureaucrats to deflect from the realities, now that people are paying attention no one believes authority.
Especially when the prattling prince is exposed every day as too stupid to breath unassisted.

    1. John, numbers are important. Saying that people are dying is BS. people die everyday, in fact 153,000 plus everyday. If you think that shutting down the world for a virus is what will save mankind you are sorely mistaken. The final numbers are all that matters and they will be fudged beyond belief.

        1. John apparently this is all about people dying not about anything else. So I gave you a number.

  13. Liberals want an economic wasteland so they can swoop in and save the day with even more big government.
The stupid carbon tax is just another nail in the economy’s coffin.

And this present virus economy is just a tiny taste of what the Green New Deal in the US would produce or what would result if Butts and Trudeau could impose all of their Marxist stupidity here.

Ask people how they like the present economy.
Ask them if we should make it permanent by embracing Trudeau’s Marxist insanity.
    Ask them to think.

    1. Ask the average Canadian voter to think, are you joking? You are proposing having a battle of witts with an unarmed person. Most of these people who put Juthtin back in power last year would have a hard time naming their MP unless he/she was a cabinet Minister, even though they likely voted for them. They have been indoctrinated by the print and electronic media to the point that there is zero objectivity remaining in their thinking processes. The media cartel knows who signs the checks and who controls spending in Ottawa and have sold out their self respect for the modern day equivalent of 30 pieces of silver.

  14. Social Scientists agree that Covid-19 has changed the climate.
And it’s tax free, so far.

    1. Unfortunately the climate it changed was not weather related. We are now in the grip of a rabid police state yet no seem to know or care.

  15. As the flitting fairy hides in the closet or under the bed or wherever, slapping taxes on producers and creators, Donald Trump walks along decisively getting rid of all the vestiges of the globalists. Canadas moron continues doubling down on stupidity, the clown might just as well have a Santa tax, and a tooth fairy tax, that tax, this dolt, will really warm up too. Tax the hell out of people that cannot presently work, what a novel concept.

    1. What !!! in other words the Easter Bunny is getting off scott free? I didn t even know he was from Quebec Tabernac!

  16. I’ve been blessed to be able to work from home and keep my salary going. I’ve been doing this for 3 weeks. I haven’t had to visit a gas station in over 3 weeks. This idiot thinks raising the taxes on those essential workers who need to keep driving is appropriate in this economy, this crisis. I had no respect for him anyway but this pisses me off. Normally I would not wish ill on anyone, but in this case we’re short one avalanche.

  17. The bong and his cabinet are players in a theatre company. Always in character, every pronouncement is scripted.

The ‘characters’ are dressed in theatre wear. Turbans, too short skirts, fake beards. It might be a cross between Gilligan’s Island, Gulliver’s Travels and Yes Prime Minister. A simultaneous comedy/tragedy. They are missing the quintessential sexy ditz but they’ve made up for it with a plethora of queer types.

Maybe an Andrew Lloyd Webber score would complete the drama.

  18. Is there any one who can tell me what advantage there is, for being a “Canadian”?

  19. The Canadian Advantage is that you can feel virtuous as you are getting totally screwed.
To date not one person pooh poohing Western Independence has made any case for the continuation of Confederated Canada,or even been able to state what benefits Alberta derives currently.
If Central Canada wanted to promote Western Separation, what would they have done differently?
