The Trudeau government isn’t satisfied to simply spend $600 million dollars to pay off the entire media establishment in Canada, they want to monitor your news and use the CBC to “ensure quality in news coverage.”
Yesterday an advisory panel released a report entitled, “Canada’s Communications Future: Time To Act”, citing” a “crisis in news.” It recommends all media content services fall under the Act and regulation by the Canadian Radio Television and Telecommunications Commission.”
It is a well known saying that to determine if you’re in a dictatorship, check on who you’re allowed to criticize.
I have just sent my MP a request to oppose the contents – particularly “3.5” – of the report.

I agree completely. The problem is is that conservatives are largely disorganized, whereas the left is highly organized. So there is no way conservatives could mobilize many people to complain to the CRTC. A case in point: the left has the Friends of Public Broadcasting to mobilize for their CBC cronies. There is no conservative group tasked with opposing the CBC.
David, the problem is, as I have said many times, there are no conservatives in Canada, at least none who think about individual freedom, which of course means they are not conservatives.
So the Toronto Star will be getting a bailout from the radio and telecommunications commission then?

The CBC receives $1.2 billion a year in taxpayer funding. That works out to $31.92 yearly for every man woman and child in Canada, or $43.63 yearly for every Canadian taxpayer.
Yet the CBC ideologically only caters to less than half the population of this country.
Forgive me for being so presumptuous, but I don’t think we’re getting our money’s worth.
I think it’s time to sell.
Especially when one considers the ever increasing Orwellian spin the CBC has been taking of late. All in catering to the “boy”.
If the CBC doesn’t have an audience, why is it being given any money at all?
After the western provinces separate, the CBC properties in the west (the Regina, SK CBC office is in a sweet location beside the “lake”) will be up for sale to the highest bidder.
So at the same time CBC viewership is cratering because no one trusts or likes it, the government thinks the CBC should have more control over what people watch.
Makes sense … to absolutely no one who doesn’t have fascist tendencies.
Boy Blunder and his authoritarian minions are too stupid to recognize they have lost already.
Even if they succeed in “controlling” all Canadian media,they will still lose.
Criminalizing speech critical of stupid politicians will not work,even if the surrender monkeys dominate Canadian media, this will just open up opportunity in the USA.
