  1. My brother came for a visit. He hates Trump, because he blames Trump that all jokes are Trump jokes now. He wants that to end, because the jokes aren’t funny, and he wants humor back.

It occurs to me that they are winning. People are going to begin to start saying “well, if they impeach him at least it ends”…

So, the only message, is? IT NEVER ENDS. They won’t stop making Trump jokes just because Trump isn’t president anymore. Double think doesn’t replace sane think all by itself.

One does not simply start one meme and assume that it is over and the cultyre war is won.

  2. I love Schlichter’s columns but he’s not the greatest novelist. At least, not judging by the first in that series which I bought.

    1. They get better.

I liked Indian Country (prequel to first book) best of the three I’ve read. They all tend to move quickly. None of them can be taken too seriously but good for a few laughs.

Don’t know that I would pay full price for them but the SK library system has a few copies and they eventually arrive if you put them on hold. If you buy them you support the author more, but if you borrow them from the library you increase the chances the system will order more.

      1. People’s Republic is the one I have. If your taste runs to thin characters and plots, it’s alright. It’s like Mitch Rapp lite.

        1. T, Mitch Rapp is ok but I consider all of them lite, much like a tv show that can be read with a beer or two.

      1. Yes, it’s lite entertainment but Flynn at least develops his characters beyond comic book heroes. The hero in this thing is like superman and he lets you know that his opponents stand no chance. More like Jack Reacher lite, I guess and that’s really lite. As for the truth? Well, I was talking about the quality of the novel. Still, I like his columns. Expanding from 1,000 words to 50,000 often reveals where the author lacks ability.

  3. Why the hell can I not buy it at my local Indigo? I know, because someone who names their book store Indigo is freaking brain dead.
