You should not do unto others as you would have done unto you, they may not share your tastes. Rather, do unto others as they have done unto you. It should be noted that the reason Begum is particularly in the news begging for return is that she has already been found guilty in absentia and stripped of her British citizenship. She is calling for British law specifically because she has no standing to call on British law. She’s making a special pleading for something she has no right to.
Britain has no right to just strip citizenship. That’s dangerous that’s not how citizenship works. Just let them back and put them in jail.

Britain has no right to leave a citizen stateless, but Begum is in the odd legal position that her father has also left Britain for Pakistan, so Britain has the right to strip her of citizenship because she can go to Pakistan and get citizenship there.
